Bruce is the one to give Cassandra a real family when he decided to take her in as a daughter, and a member of the Batfamily. So she can use the skilled from her assassin training for good. Cass not wanting to be evil or a killer like her parents (Lady Shiva and David Cain) has made it easy for Bruce, while his bio son hanged onto his al Ghual teachings. Even though there have been moments where Cass had taken a life during a fight, her actions weren't in cold blood, as she was driven to atom for the life she took as a child. Bruce is aware of her first kill and despite what the recording of that event showed him, Bruce knowing David Cain has him stating that he was the true killer not Cass. Despite the times Bruce had been hard on her, he has been more of a parent that hers ever were; and is the reason she is able to have friends and siblings. Something that neither of her bio parents would let her have. Unlike Bruce's other wards who have seen what his obsession has done to him, Cassandra wants to be like the Batman she admires and looks up to. One time when Bruce asked Cass where her true loyalties lie, him or Barbara, she points to the bat symbol on his chest. From viewing herself as the daughter of the Batman.

Cassandra meets Batman when the Dark Knight was trying to save her and her father, David Cain. Seeing him struggling to hold the both of them, she let go of her father's hands so the masked man won't die with them. Once Batman made sure that the assassin was secured, he dived off the building to save the dark haired girl. He brought her to a cemetery so they could talk in peace, only to learn that she is unable to speak after she woke up. The moment Batman recognised the girl's hand moments he realised that her father was one of his teachers. His time with David Cain allowed him to come up with a way for he and Cass to communicate with one another. As he informs her why Cain was in Gotham and who paid him to kill Jim Gordon. This information gets Cass to go after Two-Face, before she reappears before Batman and Cain to keep the two men from killing each other. Batman liked the way she took Two-Face's coin with the rest of the money she stole from him.
After years of being on the run from her father, Cassandra found herself gaining a new father and life. That won't force her to take a life. While Bruce helped Cass gain a new purpose for her skills, as the new Batgirl. Before becoming the Black Bat.

The web comic focusing on the Batfamily out of costume has allowed it to showcase family moments between Bruce and Cass. Even though Cass has her own place she commonly drops by the manor, as her visits to the manor make it look like she still lives there with Bruce and the rest of his wards and young partners. Being one of his wards had Bruce bring Cassandra to one of the events he attends, but after he saw her hiding from everyone else on the glass roof top, while Bruce is left wondering how she got up there in heels, he never brought her to another gala again. Knowing that she'll find away to hide from all those people again.
On the night Cass was to do a solo ballet dance for the intermission of the show, Bruce's Batman duties made him run late to it. Even though he got Alfred to ensure that he has a ticket and a front roll seat to see Cass dance, three cases of danger and trouble kept appearing on top of each other, after dealing with one of them. Each time Alfred contacts Bruce to let him know that he is running out of time, he reassures him that he'll make it in time to see Cass's performance. Only to arrive seconds after it ended. Bruce felt terrible for missing the part that mattered to him and Cass most. After disappointing his other wards for not being able to make it to their important events, he assumes that Cass was angry at him and avoided talking to her, believing that she wouldn't want to see or talk to him. Which only made it worse, until Alfred stepped in to make Bruce understand that avoiding a problem won't fix things between them. Realising that Alfred was right, Bruce approaches Cass with the roses he originally wanted to give her after her show. He apologies for missing her dance and how him trying to be a good Batman gets in the way of him wanting to be a good father. Luckily Cass forgives him and had held no ill will towards him. Still wanting to see her dance, Bruce booked the theatre for just the two of them.

Just as Damian being Bruce's bio son is what inspired fans to support BruDami, Cass being the Dark Knight's first adopted daughter is what draws people towards them. Even though some may argue that Stephanie Brown was his first daughter, with her being one of the BatKids beside Cass, Damian and Bruce's other wards. Similar to how Bruce tries to teach Cassandra right from wrong, some people feel that Bruce had also been learning a few things from Cass.
Because Cass is limited to the comics and a rare number of other sources of media, it has BruCass be overshadowed by other Batfamily ships that focuses on Bruce being a father to his other bat children. Even though many Cassandra Cain fans would like to see more of her in other DC media sources than just the Young Justice animated series. Along with hoping for those DC medias to have moments that are between Bruce and Cass.
