Bubeafy is the femslash ship between Bubble and Leafy from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
Battle for Dream Island[]
Leafy approaches Bubble as she reads a book. Wanting to get a closer look of the book, Leafy walks up and accidentally pops her. She decides to pick up the book and start reading anyways.
After dangling off a cliff trying to save Pencil, Bubble calls for Leafy to help her only for Leafy to get stuck too.
Leafy greets Bubble and gives her a gift for being wonderful. Bubble calls it the nicest thing anyone's done for her and opens it despite Pencil's worries of it being a trap. She gets excited to see the Springy Shoes she's always wanted and thanks Leafy as she goes to play with them. After Pencil steps in and pressures Leafy into giving her a gift as well, Leafy hastily takes Bubble's shoes and causes her to pop from the fall. After Bubble is recovered, she takes the shoes she got from Leafy back from Pencil and Ice Cube.
During the contestants' voting, Bubble does not vote for Leafy to get out because of the gift she gave her. Afterwards in the staring contest challenge, Bubble is about to say something about the Springy Shoes until she is interrupted by Leafy. Leafy assumes she is going to compliment them and goes on about how she would hate to be backstabbed by friends taking advantage of her generosity by throwing away her gifts. After Bubble says the shoes are making it hard for her to stare, she throws them back behind her to Leafy's shock. This causes Leafy to blink and lose the staring contest. Later on when Pencil asks Bubble what's gotten into her, Leafy agrees and calls her out for throwing away her gift, saying she's the meanest person on Earth.
As Leafy gets a hang of riding a unicycle, she pushes Ice Cube away and tells her she shouldn't befriend the "backstabbing Bubble". When Bubble asks her if she really does think that bubbles can stab, Leafy screams for Ice Cube to get away only for the two to fall off a cliff. After the challenge, Bubble is allowed to give a second immunity to someone else and chooses Leafy to prove to her that she is a nice person. Leafy calls it good effort but says that she still has to do a lot of work to become nicer.
When the contestants are sent to space, Leafy is shocked at the sight of Bubble and Ice Cube playing catch with a star. At Cake at Stake, Leafy gives Bubble her slice of cake knowing that she likes ice cream cake. Later at the end of the challenge, Bubble is able to give a second immunity to another contestant and she chooses Leafy again. Leafy appreciates it and calls it quite nice, making Bubble happy about being nicer this time. However, Leafy says that it's not that much better and tells her about needing to reach 73 more levels before she can reach her level of niceness.
Leafy and Bubble both want to go back to Earth rather than seeing the Orion Nebula when the Announcer asks them so. During Cake at Stake when Bubble yells out Yoylecake for being immune, Leafy brings out a slice of Yoylecake that she happened to have from Yoyleland. Bubble eats the cake and thinks it's delicious. Later in the challenge when Bubble suddenly turns metal, Leafy explains that it's a side-effect from the Yoyleberries in the cake and apologizes.
After Cake at Stake, Bubble and Leafy express joy to each other on making it to the final five. In the volcano, the two try to swim in the lava after Firey is able to but they both get burnt. The two are recovered and Bubble enjoys being a bubble again after having been metal for a while, leading Leafy to high-five her. Leafy and Bubble get the idea to use Spongy as a platform as he's falling in the lava to get to the other side. The two then race against Firey and Flower to get to the end of the volcano. After Flower gets eaten and Firey starts climbing up the pole out of the volcano, Leafy and Bubble feel the volcano shake and realize that it is erupting. The two watch as a magma wave rises above them and engulfs everyone inside.
Bubble and Leafy both survive the Cake at Stake into the final four. For the final challenge when they run out of boats to cross the canal, Leafy assures Bubble that they can swim to the other side. They run into a life ring along the way and Leafy gives it to Bubble for her to use. When Leafy catches up to Bubble during the test portion, Bubble expresses worry for failing the test three times in a row. Leafy offers to help her and gives her the test answers, leading the two to both pass. The two both decide to use a clump of dirt for the cake challenge to pass the time and they compete the next sections of the challenge together: crossing a bridge, going through islands, solving jigsaw puzzles, running to a tree, running a 3-legged race, crying, skiing, handstanding, balloon floating, and climbing a ladder. Leafy is stopped when she fails to find the right color of ball as Bubble continues through the rest of the challenges. At the volcano, the last portion of the final challenge, Firey and Flower are killed and Leafy and Bubble are left to finish the challenge. Leafy offers Bubble the immunity and, to her shock, Bubble expresses annoyance of Leafy always being nice. As Bubble explains that there's no challenge when she always lets her win, Leafy accuses her of being ungrateful and yells about how mean she actually is. Bubble tries to clarify that she didn't mean to say it like that to no avail. When Flower shows up and tells Leafy about Bubble helping her over the rock wall, Bubble tries to explain that she was threatened to do so but Leafy ignores this and calls for her friendship with Bubble to end.
After Leafy apologizes on Bubble's behalf to Flower for her not giving her immunity, Bubble is conflicted because she thought Leafy hated her. Leafy explains that she's over the argument they had and asks to be friends with her again. Bubble explains how they continuously become and disband as friends and thinks that their friendship isn't stable, although Leafy takes this as Bubble not wanting to be friends again. Bubble is saddened by this as Leafy offers to spend time with Firey instead.
When Leafy believes that the Announcer is allergic to the cashew he's trying to give to Bubble, she happily hands it over to her.
Battle for Dream Island Again[]
As Pin tries to think of ways she and Bubble are alike, she brings up her hatred of Leafy and Bubble agrees with her. The two get a laugh out of each other about making fun of Leafy's voice only for Leafy, unaware of what they said, to show up. Pin and Bubble freak out upon seeing her and begin throwing syringes of freeze juice at her. Bubble is confused as to why she isn't freezing up as Leafy, made out of Yoyle Metal at the moment, explains how the substance prevents her from being frozen. Leafy mentions how she's tired of always eating Yoyleberries and came back to get some other food. After Bubble is asked for recommendations, she turns down Gelatin's Steakhouse since Gelatin is dead at the moment and returns the question back to Leafy. After trying to piece together her thoughts, Leafy asks for an onion and is given one by Bubble. After eating the onion, Leafy asks Bubble if she wants to do anything and wants to know where Firey is. Finding out that he died in an explosion, Bubble and Leafy recover everyone affected by it with the Hand-powered Recovery Center.
Battle for BFB[]
After the teams are arranged, Bubble reveals to her teammate Ruby that she's nervous about Leafy being on the team as well. Ruby figures that they never got over their frenemy phase and offers to help resolve it now, calling over Leafy with a megaphone. Bubble stops her from doing so and continues to worry over this.
At the start of the next challenge when Leafy tells her team they need to put their heads together, Bubble takes it literally and says she died last time she tried. Later on, Leafy compliments Lollipop and Bubble for coming back from the other team's tower.
When Bubble is worried about the sun's surface popping her, Leafy encourages her and says that the sun is just a star. Later on after Leafy's plan of getting Teardrop to sit on the sun fails, Bubble calls it a ridiculous plan. Leafy asks her if she feels the breeze, mentioning how she has the feeling of flying away. Bubble tells her to do so and walks away, leading Leafy to nonchalantly bring up that it's just a feeling.
As Bubble chooses who out of her team should be a shopper, she turns Leafy and Lollipop down because they act weird around her. She, Teardrop, and Gelatin end up getting a random number generator, dubbed a niceness level detector by Gelatin, as Leafy's gift for the challenge. Leafy mistakes it for a bowling ball upon receiving it; Bubble corrects her and asks for her to shake the ball.
When Leafy leaves the team's tower, Lollipop calls for Bubble to tell her that Leafy's gone. Bubble celebrates and the rest of the team cheers.
After Bubble was popped in the court case challenge, Leafy asked for Four to recover her. Bubble confronts Lollipop about this, mentioning that Leafy out of anybody was the one who asked for Four to bring her back, making Bubble disappointed that Lollipop failed to notice her disappearance.
At Four's party in the finale, Bubble and Leafy are seen chatting on good terms again.
Fanon[]
Bubeafy has been fairly prevalent in the fandom's shipping community for years. Although having an on and off friendship in the show, the times where they have been shown as supportive have lifted views of them up. Fan works involving them, often ship content, also take in their uneasy dynamic to portray certain moods between them. Having largely interacted through the latter half of the season and both being finalists, the ship is notable for both characters and recognized this way. The ship has garnered numerous video edits on TikTok, along with fan art and a following on various platforms. It is mainly rivaled by Fireafy, alongside other ships such as Leafpin and Fubble.
On AO3, there are six works under their romantic tag and two under their platonic tag. It is the fourth most written ship for Bubble and the eighth most for Leafy.
