Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American television series, which ran from 1997–2003. The series continued in comic books with seasons 8–12 released from 2007–2018.
Plot[]
Buffy the Vampire Slayer follows the slayer, Buffy Summers, and her friends, the Scooby Gang in the battle against evil in Sunnydale, California. Together, they overcome the difficulties of youth, fight demons and vampires, and learn to embrace their destiny.

Fanon[]
The Buffy fandom is one of the first online fandoms, beginning in the late 90s and still thriving today. Countless fansites, message boards, zines, communities, fan listings and archives have emerged over the years dedicated to BtVS and companion series, Angel.
Shipping is widely embraced amongst the fandom, with even the most rarepairs receiving numerous fanworks. On FanFiction.net, there are over 50K works in the Buffy tag and almost 40K on AO3. However, as Buffy began in the earlier days of the internet, a large majority of fan fiction was posted across communities dedicated to the series as well as specific pairings. Quite a few fan-run archives are still active, with thousands of works of their own. For example, a Spuffy community, Elysian Fields, has almost 27, 000 members.
Crossover shipping is also particularly popular amongst Buffy fans, spawning the community Twisting the Hellmouth, comprising over 20,000 works. Supernatural, Stargate and Harry Potter are the most commonly crossed over fandoms.
