Candessa is the femslash ship between Candace Flynn and Vanessa Doofenshmirtz from the Phineas and Ferb fandom.

Canon

Season 1

Candace and Vanessa's first interaction happened in "Swinter", when Vanessa got on the ski left next to Candace, while the latter was venting to herself about how her brothers were driving her crazy. Vanessa told Candace that if she thinks her brothers are bad, she should try having to spend the day with her dad, Heinz Doofenshmirtz. They didn't really seem to know each other so this was largely overlooked.

In the episode "I Scream, You Scream", Candace and Vanessa sing a duet called "Busted". Despite performing the song together, the two characters do not actually interact in this episode. Instead, they are singing about their respective desires to bust their family members; Candace to bust her brothers, and Vanessa to bust her dad.

Their next direct interaction didn't happen until, "Hail Doofania!", when the laundromat accidentally switched their outfits and they ended up wearing each others clothes. At the end of the episode, they happened to cross paths with each other. Upon realizing what happened, they were miffed and pointed to each other, declaring "Heyyyyy!". This happened at the very end of the episode, however and we explored nothing more of their interaction.

Season 2

They wouldn't have a prolonged interaction until "Finding Mary MacGuffin", when they both tried to obtain the Mary MacGuffin doll from the store at the same time and got into a tug-of-war over it. During their fight, the doll slipped out of their hands and landed in the arms of an adorable little girl, who loved her. The two of them saw just how happy this little girl was and decided not to take the doll from her ... Well, at least Candace did.

Candace and Vanessa finally had a major interaction in "Summer Belongs to You", where Vanessa ran into her and the others on their bouncing trip around the world. Vanessa asked Candace what "Ferb" was short for, remembering her conversation with him in "Vanessesary Roughness" and Candace, for the life of her, just didn't know.

Season 3

Their friendship was further solidified in "The Doonkelberry Imperative", Candace ran into Vanessa at the library, when she was trying to check out a book on disappearing objects that Heinz already had. Candace thought Vanessa's last name was kind of interesting and wondered if it was Chinese. Vanessa invited Candace over to her house to look for the book. As Vanessa helped Candace rummage through her dad's inventions, they discussed how Candace is constantly suffering from object just disappearing from her life, not noticing the lasers shooting out of all of Doof's inventions, causing the very disappearances Candace was talking about. Candace accidentally set off one of these lasers, herself, which made Phineas and Ferb's wackadoodle machine disappear and gave up on trying to bust them. She trudged out of them room in grief and Vanessa told her that she found her book but Candace rejected it, denouncing the scientific method as "flawed".

Season 4

In "Drusselsteinoween", Candace and Vanessa went to the latter's Halloween party together, both coincidentally dressed as vampire queens. Candace asked Vanessa how she managed to pull off a party as elaborate as this and felt betrayed when she found out that Vanessa got help from her pesky little brothers, Phineas and Ferb.

In "It's No Picnic", Vanessa was teleported into a movie theater, where she saw Candace watching Ducky Momo. After they left the theater, Vanessa thanked Candace for introducing her to the ironic enjoyment of Ducky Momo, even though Candace enjoyed the franchise sincerely. In the ending credits, Candace and Vanessa sang a punk rock rendition of the theme song.

In "Night of the Living Pharmacists", Candace looked for somebody cool and chill to hang out with and was overjoyed to see Vanessa, wanting to have some of her coolness rub off on her. However, Candace needed to practice keeping her composure and not get too emotional, when trying to emulate Vanessa's phlegmatic and anhedonic demeanor. She sat with the cool goth kids at Vanessa's house and discussed horror movies, even though Candace had never seen any of those badass and edgy films, making it difficult for her to chime in. The house was later invaded by Doofenshmirtz zombies, which Candace and Vanessa fought off together, horror-movie-style. Unfortunately, due to Candace's lack of horror movie know-how, she was quickly engulfed in the zombie plague and taken down. After the apocalypse was over, Candace couldn't keep up the charade of being a "horror film girl" anymore but Vanessa didn't care, still seeing Candace as cool, nonetheless, even inviting her to hang out with her and her goth friends again sometime in the future.

In "The Last Day of Summer", Candace stopped by Vanessa's house on the last day of summer to return her French-noir films. Vanessa was about to complain about her bad day, only for Candace to cut her off and ramble on and on about her own bad day. Vanessa politely invited Candace in for some tea, still hoping to download some of her frustrations onto her. However, Candace left before Vanessa could even come back with the tea she'd make for them. This was the final interaction between Candace and Vanessa in the original series, posthumous movies not withstanding.

Candace Against the Universe

Vanessa bikes by Candace's house and sees her feeling sad and defeated, after having failed yet again to bust her brothers. Candace sings a hard-core rock song about how the universe is against her, which Vanessa weirdly provided guitar music for. She'd give Candace some therapy, trying to help her come to the realization that she doesn't really want to bust her brothers deep down. Candace started to make a breakthrough but this was quickly forgotten, when the two girls were abducted by aliens. While trying to escape the alien spacecraft, Candace was fixated on the notion that Phineas and Ferb built this contraption solely to mess with her and Vanessa was frustrated with Candace's unhealthy obsession trumping her will to get out of the machine. Vanessa was finally able to find some escape pods and got into one but Candace accidentally launched all of the escape pods before she could get in one, herself, saving Vanessa but leaving herself stranded in the skies.

Fanon

The ship likely sailed due to the popularity of the song "Busted", the dark-horse popularity of Vanessa, and the fandom's infatuation with femslash ships. "Busted" is seen as the ship's official couple song, and it was rated as the third best Phineas and Ferb song in 2009. It is most often rivaled by Canderemy, Ferbnessa, Montessa and Johnessa.

There are currently over 30 works on AO3 for this pairing. It is Vanessa's fourth most popular ship, and Candace's sixth most popular. It is the most popular femslash ship in the fandom overall.
