Cangel is the het ship between Cordelia Chase and Angel from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fandoms.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer[]
Cordelia watches as Angel steps into the Bronze, "Hello, salty goodness!" she exclaims and she sets her sights on him immediately. To her disappointment, Angel's got eyes for Buffy.[1]
Walking alone after cheerleading practice, Cordy gets spooked and hides in a dumpster. When Angel appears out of nowhere, he smiles and tells her this is the last place he'd expect to find her. She asks him why he's following her and he claims he was looking for Buffy. Cordy gets properly spooked again when she discovers severed body parts in the dumpster and Angel takes her to the Sunnydale High library. When the Scoobies show up, Angel and Cordy are sitting at the table while Cordy is latched onto Angel's arm. They get up and Cordelia keeps her arms around Angel's and rests her chin on his shoulder. She dramatically claims to be too fragile to go home alone and asks Angel to escort her and he does.[2]
On Halloween, Angel waits for Buffy at the Bronze while Cordy waits for Devon. Cordy joins Angel at his table where he is anxiously waiting. Angel smiles at her and Cordy, being stood up, declares "his loss is your incredible gain." Angel laughs at Cordy's jokes. They are comfortable and carefree of their current worries. Buffy arrives and notices them laughing together and gets jealous.[3]
Angel[]
Cordelia and Angel move to Los Angeles and run into one another at a party. Cordy is pursuing acting while Angel is working on an investigation. Angel smiles at the sight of her and tells her it's nice to see a familiar face. Cordy comfortably talks with him but tells mostly lies as she's embarrassed to admit the truth about her struggles. Later, Angel ends up saving her from another vampire, and Angel takes some bullets for her, carrying her as they escape. She helps dress Angel's shirtless wounds, and he returns the favor by killing her captor.[4] Cordelia soon joins Angel Investigations along with their new friend, Doyle, and together they save the lives of countless people.
When Doyle dies, he passes on to Cordelia his powers of precognition via a kiss. Unfortunately, these powers, which were bestowed by the Powers That Be, are excruciatingly painful and Cordy attempts to transfer them to anyone else, including Angel. She impulsively kisses Angel to his surprise and proclaims she didn't feel anything. She asks him if he felt anything, and he says that he didn't. Cordelia clarifies she was referring to a potential power exchange, which didn't occur.[5]

Fanon[]
Cangel was a fairly common ship early in the series, however, was considered "unconventional." It earned overall popularity when Angel the series was released in 1999 and Cordelia and Angel became the show's leads. When the ship took off, as there are "Anti-Bangel" and "Anti-Spuffy" shippers, there are also "Anti-Cangel" shippers. It is very common to see these terms being used within the Buffyverse fandom.
On AO3, Cangel is the most written ship for Cordelia and the third most written ship for Angel. It is also the fourth most written ship in the Angel: The Series tag. There are currently 660+ written works.
