Carmine Family is the familyship between Carmilla Carmine, Clara Carmine and Odette Carmine from the Hazbin Hotel fandom.
Canon[]
Carmilla Carmine is known as the top arms dealer of Hell, while her daughters Clara and Odette help their mother with her business. By handling weapon deliveries to their paying clients and collecting the angelic weapons they sell, with the yearly Extermination providing them with weapons from Heaven. The two also assist their mother with her Overlord duties, like organizing meetings between them and attending the meetings with her. Although Carmilla is a powerful Overlord who deals in weapons, she puts her daughters and their safety first, fearing she'll end up losing them if Hell were to go to war with Heaven.
Season One[]
Carmilla protecting her daughters, as she has Clara and Odette flee from the Exorcists
During the Extermination at the start of the main series, the Carmines were out collecting weapons that the Exorcists disguard after using them to kill a sinner demon. Clara and Odette were running ahead of their mother as they get surrounded by a group of angels, Carmilla puts herself between her daughters and the armed Exorcists. Because of the situation they were in, Carmilla takes it upon herself to hold them off, while Clara and Odette get to safety. Since the Carmines deal in angelic weapons, Carmilla makes sure that she arms herself with that very type of weapon, using her angelic ballet shoes to behead the angel that attacked her. Feeling that it was the only way to protect her daughters, even though her actions led to Adam moving up the next Extermination to six months than a year. Seeing the angel's death as an act of rebellion; when in fact it was of a mother protecting her beloved daughters.
Because of this Carmilla has Odette and Clara attend the meeting she arranges, on how they and Carmilla's fellow overlords can better protect the souls they govern, from the next Extermination. During the start of the meeting, the two stand beside their mother as she greets the attending Overlords, before going to their seats. Odette assists Carmilla by handing her the clipboard she was holding, and then brings out the diagram. After Carmilla signals her with a quite eye contact glance at her, while Odette simply nods before bringing it out. Before the meeting with the Overlords, Carmilla was detriment to keep what happened to them during the last Extermination a secret, but Velvette ended up bringing the head of the angel that attacked them to the meeting. Forcing Carmilla to cut the meeting short. Odette wanted to talk with her mother about what happened, after Velvette left, but Carmilla didn't want to discuss it.
After the Carmines head to Carmilla's office, the two could see that their mother was still troubled from what happened at the meeting. Along with knowing the weight of the secret she is determined to keep between the three of them, but Clara felt that they should share this secret with Zestial. Who has figured out Carmilla was the one who killed the angel, and is a friend to the Carmines. At first Carmilla made herself clean "that no one should know" and didn't wish to discuss this matter, but in the end she ends up telling Zestial.
Carmilla and her daughters embracing during "Whatever It Takes"
Throughout her lyrics of "Whatever It Takes," Carmilla sings about how she never wanted to have blood on her face, but when the Exorcist attacked she had no choice but to act; crossing that line in order to keep her daughters safe. Along with Carmilla sharing her fear of losing the ones she killed for, should Hell rise to war once they learn how she was able to kill the angel. Odette and Clara then go up to their mother, who sings about being their keeper as she embraces them. Vowing to do whatever it takes to keep them safe, even if it means making mistakes along the way. Then looks between the two as Carmilla says "keep this secret." Feeling that it was for the best, as she expresses the need to do so with them. Although Carmilla doesn't know what the three of them may face in the future she does know this, Clara and Odette cannot be replaced and will do anything to save them.
Season Two[]
Vox uses Carmilla's desire to protect her girls in order to convince her to not only join him in his war with heaven, but to also build him a weapon, despite Carmilla wanting to avoid war. At first Carmilla refused to join Vox's cause, but after he points out her role in aiding the hotel's battle with Heaven and provided them with the very weapon that killed Adam, he tells Carmilla that war is coming and she had a hand in starting it. Making her think that she has placed Clara and Odette in the very danger she wants to prevent, and that joining Vox was the only way to save them. When Zestial questions Carmilla on her decision on siding with Vox, it is revealed that Carmilla had lost imported to her in the past and that loss has her not wanting to lose her daughters as well. Carmilla tells Zestial that her loyalty is to her girls and those she wants to keep safe, and when Charlie and Vaggie confront Carmilla on siding with Vox, she tells them that she is simply joining the winning team. Believing that Vox was her best bet to keep her daughters safe from the coming war.
In "Curtain Call," Vaggie mentions Clara and Odette as she tries to get Carmilla to see sense, as Vox would still have the powerful weapon she made for him under his control, if he succeeds in his plans to take over heaven. Meaning the Carmine sisters won't be safe as long as Vox has it, at first Carmilla did nothing as Vaggie tries to destroy it, but after seeing an angel helping sinners who got caught in the chaos of Vox using the weapon to take out Alastor, she decides to help Vaggie. Realising that Vaggie was right and her daughters won't be safe as long as the weapon exists.
Fanon[]
The Carmine Family is one of the notable families of the Hazbin Hotel fandom, next to the Morningstar Family, the von Eldritch Family and Angel Dust's family. Even though they had only appeared twice in the first season, fans were still able to see how much Carmilla loves her two daughters, from the lengths she took to protect them. Drawing people towards the Carmines. The popularity of Zestmilla has also got fans to think that Zestial should be the father of this Hellaverse family. Just as the support surrounding Vagmilla has some people view Vaggie as Carmilla's third daughter, while becoming a sister to Clara and Odette.
Although "Out For Love" is the song that has Carmilla help Vaggie mend her relationship with Charlie, some people like to think that when Carmilla was singing the song, she was thinking about her daughters.[1] Since the song starts the second after the flashback scene of the Carmines ends. Along with the fact that Clara and Odette are the ones she cares about and will do anything to protect them, while the song subjects that the two are Carmilla's reason to live. Like Charlie is to Vaggie.
Because so little is known about them, it has led to a few fan theories surrounding them. Since sinners are unable to reproduce after death, it got people to wonder if Odette and Clara are the daughters Carmilla had in life and all three of them ended in Hell together. Their eyes being the same shade of red and are also of the same eye shape helps to support this theory. As any theories of the three being Hellborn, who can reproduce and continue aging, were dismissed from the fact Exorcists weren't allowed to kill Hellborns. With the three of them shown to have been attacked by angels in the flashback scene of "Hello Rosie." Though some people have considered the possibility that the Carmine sisters could have been adopted by Carmilla, from how the rest of their appearances are different to one another.
Those who support the theory of Carmilla possibly being a fallen angel, like Vaggie, has also got people to wonder if Clara and Odette were angels too. Or that they were sinners Carmilla couldn't bring herself to harm and decided to take them in, after she was deemed a fallen. Just as Vaggie was kicked out as a fallen for simply showing mercy towards a cannibal child. Making people wonder if fallen angels are viewed as sinners, or that the angels who attacked them were only after the two sisters. The theory of Carmilla being an ex-exorcist is mostly used to explain how and why the Carmines deal in angelic weapons, as Carmilla knows that they are capable of killing an angel, and probably didn't want other demons to discover what she knows.
