CassSandra is the family ship between Cassandra Cain and Sandra Wu-San from the DC Comics fandom.

Sandra Wu-San, better known as Lady Shiva, is Cassandra's biological mother. Shiva conserved her daughter with David Cain when she was tasked to create the ultimate assassin, and then left her daughter's training and upbringing to her child's father. While having no contact with Cassandra during that time. Once she found out that Cass had revoked David's teachings and joined up with one of her enemies, Shiva was furious. Knowing that her own flesh and blood prefers the Dark Knight and his allies over her own mother. For a long time no one was truly able to defeat Shiva, until she found herself facing off Cass. Who became the first known person to defeat the Lady Shiva in a fight.

Instead of Cass being raised and trained by her father, like she was in the comics, the animated series has Shiva as the one to over see her daughter's training. Which resulted in Cassandra's body and face to be covered in scars and having her vocal cords damaged at an early age, so the only language that Cass would be to learn is body language, the language of death. All for the sake of turning her daughter into the perfect assassin. Shiva was also the one to assign Cass's first mission to kill the Joker, for turning against the Light. After Cass had a change of heart from striking the wrong person and found herself in the care of the Batfamily, however, she turned against her mother and the Shadows. Cass took on the name of Orphan and started to learn the other ways of speaking, that Shiva had deprived her of.
Two years later, Shiva spices Orphan as she and her team attack the Shelter to reclaim Cassandra Savage, who was secretly acting as a mole for the Shadows. For the sake of the mission, as well as to reclaim another Shadow runaway at the same time, Shiva knocks Orphan out and takes her hostage. Shiva having her face close to her daughter's as she removes her mask has the resemblance that Cass had inherited from her mother stand out. She threatens to kill Orphan if the Outsiders don't hand over Cassandra Savage, before she and her team make their way to to their lair. Where Cass wakes up chained up in the cell she was placed in. Now that Lady Shiva has her daughter back, she wasn't going to let Cass go. Despite the resentment that Cass has developed towards her own mother.

The familyship is supported by those who feel drawn to hero-like characters who are related to one of their enemies. As these kind of relationships sometimes have the villain relative trying to turn their hero relation over to their side. Like Shiva has tried to do with Cass. Some fanfics do have Shiva being part of Cass's early years, while acting as a true mother. Rather than the person that was featured with Cass in the Outsiders season of the Young Justice series. Which was the first known animation that Cass and Shiva have appeared in together.
Shiva conceiving Cass in order to create a living weapon, had got people to compare her with Talia. Who drugged Bruce in order to provide the league with an heir, and had also raised Damian as a living weapon.
