Cavenkota is the slash ship between Balthazar Cavendish and Vinnie Dakota in the Milo Murphy's Law fandom.

Canon

Overview

Balthazar Cavendish and Vinnie Dakota are two time-traveling partners, who work for The Bureau of Time Travel (B.O.T.T.). Although they are seemingly total opposites, with Cavendish being stuffy, upper-class gentleman and Dakota being a sleazy, laid-back schmuck, they still make excellent partners in time travel as well as the best of friends. Their overall goal is to serve their boss, Mr. Block, who is infuriated with the complete absence of pistachios in the future year of 2175, where he comes from. Cavendish and Dakota are tasked with going to 2016 and helping to protect the pistachio plants from going extinct. However, doing so is not going to be easy, due to their constant bickering and sparring over how to go about things. However, the downfall of most of their pistachio-preservation efforts is thanks to the aura of destruction left behind by era local, Milo Murphy, whose Extreme Hereditary Murphy's Law (EHML) leads to the destruction of every pistachio garden, dispensary, and stand they can get their grubby little hands on.

Backstory

Cavendish and Dakota first met at B.O.T.T. in the year 2175, as seen in "First Impressions". Cavendish was on his final day of training to become an official member of the Bureau of Time Travel and all he needed to do was take a driver's test in his time machine. However, Dakota barged in and took control of the time machine for himself, taking him back to 2016 get a burrito. Cavendish was frustrated with Dakota for hijacking his time machine and jeopardizing his chances of being accepted into the Bureau of Time Travel all for a lousy burrito. However, Dakota rebutted that these burritos were far from lousy and far more important than any job as a time traveler. While they were quarreling, they noticed that two little kids, who happened to be none other than, Milo and Melissa were in danger, they put their dispute to the side and rushed to their aide. Using Time Delineation Gear, Cavendish and Dakota moved three times the normal speed of time to stop Milo and Melissa from falling to their dooms and saved the lives of two children. The next day in 2175, Cavendish was called into Mr. Block's office and granted the job of an official time traveler. However, as it would turn out, he would just so happen to be paired up with Dakota. Dakota was worried that Cavendish would rat him out to Mr. Block for his little mishap yesterday, only for Cavendish to give him a sparkling review. Dakota was surprised but also grateful that Cavendish came to his defense, thanking him for putting a good word in for him. As it would turn out, Cavendish was delighted to have Dakota as a partner and looked forward to many years with him at his side.

Fanon

Cavenkota is one of the most common ships in the Milo Murphy's Law shipping community, with 535 known fanfics of them existing on AO3. In fact, Cavendish and Dakota are seen by many more critical fans of MML as some of their favorite characters, just due to how unique they are in the overall lore of the show. Fans are enamored by their on-screen chemistry as friends and think that they would work together even better as lovers. Cavendish and Dakota's sharp dialogue mixed with their witty banter comes off to many as the two arguing like an old married couple. Plus, almost every single scene with these two lovebirds in it is crawling with Ho Yay moments. One of the best things about this pair is that neither Cavendish or Dakota has even been given a romantic partner or love interest during the course of the entire series, making them both blank slates for shipping. This also limits their rival ships to little beyond a few rarepairs and the obligatory Doof ships, such as Doofendish and Doofenkota.
