Celimae is the femslash ship between Celica and Mae from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
Celica is the main character (alongside Alm) of Fire Emblem Gaiden and it's a remake of Fire Emblem Shadow of Valentia. Mae is a playable character in the same games.
Celica was the princess of the kingdom of Zofia. When she was a child she was saved by the knight Mycen from an assassination attempt. For her safety she had to hide her true identity and live as a commoner. She first lived with Mycen and Alm but one year later had to moved again for her safety. She was sent to the Priory on Novis ( an island) where she was raised by Nomah. Mae was born on Novis and became a student in the Priory. She became close friend with Celica alongside Boey, and Genny. Celica become so close to Mae and Boey that she revealed to them her true identity.
Many years later, Celica went on a quest to Mila's temple to find what happened to the goddess Mila. When Mae heard about Celica's journey she decided to go with her friend and join Celica's party alongside Boey. When the Mila Temple is seized Celica will finally accepts her role as the last princess of Zofia and don the Zofian Circlet. Mae remarks on how beautiful Celica looks and remind to Boey that now they had to call Celica by her true name Anthiese but the princess say that she prefers to be addressed by Celica. Their quest led them to Duma's tower in Riguel where they found the goddess Mila turned to stone. Jedah convince Celica that the only way to save the goddess is to give her soul. Mae try to convince Celica not to surrender herself to Jedah but he teleports Mae and the rest of Celica's group into the catacombs of the Duma Temple, where they are attacked by Terrors. Finally Celica reunite with Alm and Celica's group, meets up with Celica again. Both army join force and fight Duma's army.
During their quest they can share support conversations. In their first one Celica comments that Mae is always full of energy. On their second support Celica ask to Mae if she has a problem. Mae answers by asking if she thinks that all girls should be delicate and proper. Celica say that there's room for every girl to be herself and then ask what is Mae real problem. Mae reveals that she like someone (implied to be Boey) who didn't see her as a woman. Celica say that Mae is a wonderful woman who need to had more confidence in herself. On their third support Celica notice that Mae is back in her usual high spirits. Mae answers that it's thank to Celica who give her confidence in herself. Celica says that she is glad to be friend with her and that she hope to be for long. Mae promise that there are best friends forever.
After the war, Celica marry Alm and they became the rulers of the united Valentia. Mae continues to work at the church of Zofia and marry Boey.
Fanon[]
Celimae is the most popular femslash ship for both Mae and Celica, although it's overshadowed by Celicalm, and to a lesser extent, Boeymae (who are both canon). However, a small part of the fandom considers that Celica doesn't have much chemistry with Alm and makes a better couple with Mae. The popularity of Celimae can be explained by the fact that Mae and Celica share many conversations during the main story.
The fanfictions of this pairing usually take place in an alternate universe where, instead of marrying Alm, Celica marries Mae. It's often shipped alongside Clairalm or Kliff x Alm. Many fanarts show them in modern outfit.
