Celimarth is the het ship between Marth and Celica from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, Gaiden and Mystery of the Emblem[]
Marth and Celica are two characters born in the same world but in different continent, Marth is born as the prince of Altea in the continent of Archanea while Celica is born as the princess of Zofia in the continent of Valentia. During the events of Shadow Dragon Marth fight in a war called the War of Shadow and get engaged to his friend princess Caeda. During the events of Shadow of Valentia, taking place a few years after Shadow Dragon, Celica fight in an other war taking place in the contient of Valentia, during her journey she can recruit three of Marth's former allies in the War of Shadow the Whitewing sisters Est, Catria and Palla. Celica can inderectly heard about Marth from Catria who states that high borns have "their own unique set of troubles", she then deny that she has someone specific in mind but it's implied that she was thinking about Marth. After the end of the conflict Celica marries her childhood friend Alm. Some years latter, during the War of Heroes, Archanea is yet again pledged by war, some of Marth allies , the Whitewing sisters and Sirius, fought alongside Celica but it's not know if Marth heard about her from them.
Fire Emblem Warriors[]
In Fire Emblem Warriors multiple characters from different world are summoned Aytolis, Marth and Celica are amoung those characters. Marth ,alongside Caeda and Tiki, joins the Ayatolisian army, he bears a Gleamstone necessary to give the Shield of Flames its full power. After finishing the game a sidquest leading to Celica's recruitment is unlocked. In the "Together to the End" bonus chapter Celica after being summoned to Atolys is attacked by the army of Gristonne but she is saved by the army of Aytolys and joins it.
After that Celica joined the army her support with Marth can be unloked. The support with Celica saying to Marth that in her world a continent called Archanea also exist and that a war happened on this continent some years ago. Marth explain that he has to fight in the war to protect his country. Celica shares her point of view that wars can't solves issues and only bring more pain. Marth tell her that he fight for his loved ones, that he has to fight back but that he understand Celica's point of view. Celica promises to pray for Marth's safety and sucess.
Fire Emblem Engage[]
Fire Emblem Engage takes place in the continent of Elyos. In this land some heroes from the previous titles are present as Emblems. An Emblem is a spirit based an a hero that is bound to a ring or a bracelet. The Emblem have the memories of the person they are based on. Marth and Celica are both present as Emblems. We don't have many information about the relationship between those Marth and Celica however.
Similarities and Comparisons[]
- Both are protagonists of a Nes title of the Fire Emblem franchise, their games eventually got remakes.
- Both are born into royality but during their childhood an event forced them to live their castle and familly to hide in a place where they are safe.
- Their are from a specific bloodline liked to dragons (Marth's indirect ancestror Anri used the Falcion a sword made with a dragon fang, Celica's ancestrors made a pact with the godess Mila).
- In the place where they were hidden they meet their future spouse.
- Both have an older sibling from whom they were separated after the above-mentioned event. They spent many years not knowing if their sibling is alive but later reunite with them during their adventure. Their sibling then joins their army.
- They despise violence but still fight for a cause they believe in. They end up leading an army.
- Both fight against injustices.
- They both fight against an empire led by an ancient dragon (Medeus and Duma).
- They both use swords to fight; they even possess their own personal swords (the rapiers and Falcion for Marth; the Beloved Zofia for Celica).
- In Warriors they have a similar moveset, the main difference being that Celica use magic.
- Both are crowned as monarch at the end of their game and eventually end up ruling their contients with their spouse.
Fanon[]
Celica and Marth are two popular characters of the Fire Emblem franchise however Celimarth is a rarepair. It can mainly be explained by the fact that we don't know if they ever meet outside the crossover titles despite being from the same world. Their sole significant know interaction is their support conversation in Fire Emblem Warriors. This interaction is often the basis of Celimarth fanworks even if most of them are NTSFW. Celimarth can be see as the het equivalent to Almarth an other ship involving Marth and one of the protagonist of Fire Emblem Gaiden/Echoes Shadow of Valentia. The fanworks either take place in a crossover game either depict the Valentian royality meeting the Archanean one.
Celimarth is also liked as a friendship ship. This varient mainly touch their Emblem selves present in Fire Emblem Engage. In fanworks they are often alongside the other Fire Emblem protagonists, mainly the ones present in Warriors or Engage.
