Chactus is the femslash ship between Ms. Chalice and the Cactus Girl from the Cuphead fandom.
Canon[]
The Cactus Girl is an NPC living on Inkwell Isle IV. She loves to tell ghost stories by the campfire and hopes to tell a new one herself. She had heard stories of a "ghostly gal" running around defeating foes. She then gives tasks to defeat certain bosses in the game, starting from the Root Pack all up to the final boss of the DLC, encouraging players to play the entire game again as the unlockable Ms. Chalice. She will always describe the bosses Ms. Chalice hasn't fought yet without explicitly stating their names.
Should the player succeed in beating every boss as Ms. Chalice, the Cactus Girl will be quite impressed. So much so that she states that telling stories of Chalice's awesome feats gave her a "new perspective on life". She will then tell the brothers that she "made" a spiffy new look for Ms. Chalice. Checking the Options menu reveals the new "Chalice" filter, which gives Ms. Chalice the appearance she had prior to her proper reveal.
Due to the limitations of playing as Ms. Chalice, she can never directly interact with the Cactus Girl since only the brothers can navigate the game's overworld.
Fanon[]
Chactus became a fairly well-liked ship in the fandom after the release of the Delicious Last Course. Many fans flocked to it due to being one of the only "safe" options for Ms. Chalice to be shipped with someone of her own age. Plus, the girl's admiration of Chalice can easily be interpreted as a crush. Fans are actively looking for casual representation, since the game being set in the 1930's prevents explicit reps.
Oftentimes, Chalice meets the girl in person after getting a permanent body to call her own to tell her about her adventures. Many like to have them get together afterwards, to give Chalice a happy ending.
The ship is sometimes shipped alongside other Player x NPC ships, since the NPCs being the same age as the cups is a commonly accepted headcanon. Though shipping Chalice with Cuphead or Mugman is fairly common and relatively accepted, those who prefer to see her as an honorary sister ship her with the girl instead.
Due to Cuphead's status as an art game, the ship is far more popular on art sites like Tumblr, Twitter and Tiktok. On AO3, the ship currently has 2 fanfics, making it a rarepair.
