CharaGaro is the slash ship between Garou and Charanko from the One Punch Man fandom.

Canon[]

Although not much of interactions between Charanko and Garou have been shown so far except briefly during the Hero Hunt Arc and Neo Heroes Introduction Arc, Charanko has spoken about Garou a couple of times since they share the same martial arts teacher and dojo. Charanko was also out of the dojo at the time Garou went on a rampage, forcing the other students to quit the dojo by beating them up. Then Bang kicked Garou out. After the incident, each student decided to quit the dojo due to fear or injury, but Charanko, after being away for couple weeks, returned to find the dojo quiet and only Bang cleaning the floors. Charanko then decided to try harder to train himself for Bang while Garou stayed in the shadows and planned his next moves for few months.[1]

Hero Hunt Arc[]

Garou had brutally beaten the Tank Topper Army and Mumen Rider until Charanko surprises him by jumping him and yelling how the hero hunter is a disgrace to their dojo. When Bang and Bomb find the beaten heroes, Bang also finds Charanko brutally beaten, but alive. In the end, the young martial artist recovers in the hospital.

Neo Heroes Introduction Arc[]

During the end of the Monster Association Arc, Bang retired from hero work and decided to focus entirely on his dojo. He and Garou reconcile their relationship and Bang also became Garou's guardian since the young man's parents do not want anything to do with their child. Now the Neo Heroes Introduction Arc shows that Garou is doing chores at the dojo which is part of his rehabilitation program after he caused so much trouble to others. Charanko had stayed in the dojo and it has also gained a few new students, and even Sour Face has returned. At one point, Garou had approached Charanko with a menacing aura that frightened him. The young teenager demands that the "top disciple" buys him some pocari and yakisoba bread, but Bang hits him on the head, so he gives up such an attitude. Soon Garou has to leave to do his next acceptance task; a part-time job. After he left, Charanko finally relaxes, saying how he can feel less nervous now that Garou is gone.

Maji Drama CD Vol. 4[]

In the Drama CD, we briefly learn in a flashback what Charanko and Garou's relationship was like before the young martial artist became a hero hunter. Charanko considered Garou a "scary senpai". Garou wants Charanko to come at him, but Charanko backs off and says he's just a white belt. The more experienced martial artist is confused by this and wonders what the color of the belt has to do with fights, then again tells Charanko to come at him. Charanko refuses again, telling Garou that the fight is just practice and that he wants to take it easy. Garou then asks him wasn’t he older than he is, and if he's also tired of being looked down upon. He suddenly pulls a punch but Charanko screams and then yells at Garou about how he shouldn't pull punches before it even lands because it's really scary. Garou comments on how Charanko is really weak and doesn't even qualify as a punching bag. He then wonders if Charanko even wants to be strong and what he would do if Garou was a monster, to which Charanko immediately replies that he would start crying and begging and do anything until he lets him go. He also says that he started practicing martial arts so that he could be popular. This disgusts Garou and he tells him to get out of his sight.

Back in the present time, Charanko has been going around following the S-Class heroes to learn from them, and he had visited Tanktop Master and received a tank top from him. It's already really dark because it's night, so when Charanko was comparing the S-Class heroes to himself, suddenly someone tells him that he's in the way and interrupts Charanko from his thoughts. This is Garou, but in the dark Charanko doesn't recognize him. Garou notices the tank top with the Hero Association logo on it and Charanko says he got it from Tanktop Master. He even asks if he is a fan and wants the tank top, and also wonders if they've met before because he sounds familiar, but Garou dismisses him, saying that since he's not a hero, he'll be spared, and leaves. Charanko is confused as to what the other young man means by that.

Fanon[]

CharaGaro is a very rare ship in the fandom as their interactions have mainly been in the Drama CD and a one second during the Hero Hunt Arc and later in the Neo Heroes Introduction Arc. Charanko being a minor character also affects popularity. Still, the two characters' potential relationship has intrigued shippers for years.

AO3 only has 3 romantic fanfics and 3 platonic fanfics written for the ship, but Tumblr has quite a lot of fan content for the two.

Since Garou is one of the most popular male characters in the fandom, that means he is shipped with a few characters, though mainly with Metal Bat. Batarou is then considered CharaGaro's rival ship, although Mumarou can be considered as another rival ship.
