Chargustus is the slash ship between Charlie Bucket and Augustus Gloop from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fandom.
Canon[]
Canonically, Charlie and Augustus first meet at the gates of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, along with the other ticket winners. They don’t exchange many words directly, but are shown together throughout the group scenes during the factory tour. Augustus is eliminated early in the story when he falls into the chocolate river and is sucked up through a pipe, due to his overeating and lack of self-control. Charlie watches all of this with a mix of concern and awe, but remains quiet and nonjudgmental. He does not mock Augustus, which sets him apart from some of the other children
In the 2005 film, Augustus was very rude to Charlie. When Willy Wonka leads the tour to the chocolate room, Augustus asks Charlie if he wanted some of his chocolate, to which Charlie answers yes. However, Augustus rudely tells Charlie that he should've bought some before taking another bite.
Fanon[]
Chargustus is a rarepair in the fandom. Because their interactions in canon are minimal, most of the development in Chargustus takes place in fanon. Many fan interpretations imagine a version of the story where the boys become friends post-factory, particularly in "everyone survives and changes" AUs.
On AO3, the romantic tag has only 5 fanfics, but the platonic tag has 6. The ship doesn't have any major rival ships, though possible rivals could include Chike, Blue Bucket, and Augustuca.
