- ♫ You have a dream, you wish to tell, and it's just laughable. But, hey kid, what the hell? 'Cause you're one of a kind, a charming demon belle! Now, let's give these burning fools a place to dwell ♫
- —Alastor to Charlie, during his reprise of Charlie’s song
Charlastor is the het ship between Charlie Morningstar and Alastor from the Hazbin Hotel fandom.
Canon[]
Pilot: "That's Entertainment"[]
Alastor first notices Charlie during her 666 News interview advertising her new redemption hotel. When she later returns to said hotel, despondent over her audience's mockery, Alastor appears at the door - much to her horror, as he has a fearsome reputation. Despite Vaggie's warning, Charlie lets him in - more specifically, she opens the door again and he lets himself in. Alastor, jovial and lively, extends an arm and excitedly proclaims it a pleasure to meet her. Alastor’s radio filter breaks for a second as he grabs Charlie’s arm and brings his face close to hers, which stuns her for a short while before she frowns.

Charlie meets Alastor
Right after, a bemused Alastor explains that he saw Charlie's disastrous interview on what he calls "the picture show" and calls it the most entertainment he's had since the onset of the Great Depression. Charlie watches his entrance with confusion, frowning. After Vaggie threatens him fervently, Alastor, very menacingly, assures that he means no harm. Charlie watches in fear, confused by the prospect of Alastor saying he wants to help run the hotel. Alastor admits that he wants to help Charlie run the hotel, though calling it ridiculous. He explains it's mostly - if not entirely - out of "sheer, absolute boredom". Charlie nervously asks if getting into a fist-fight with a reporter counts as entertainment, to which Alastor laughs answering, “It”s the purest kind, my dear.” Alastor explains how the world is a stage and a world of entertainment. When Charlie asks, Alastor assures Charlie that he thinks the hotel's premise and ideals are "wacky nonsense" and that demons are inherently beyond redemption ("The chance given was the life they lived before, the punishment is this! There is no undoing what is done."). Charlie is distressed by Alastor’s reasoning to assist her endeavors, in which he hugs her close and calls it an ongoing investment for himself. Alastor twirls Charle around and, quite in a deranged way, explains he expects to deeply enjoy the sight of demons repeatedly struggling and failing to redeem themselves and falling deeper into despair and failure for it. Charlie is still hesitant as she wrenches Alastor’s arm off of her, until he brings her forward and declares he sees big things coming Charlie’s way, and that he’s suited to help her with it.

Alastor distracts Charlie by demonstrating his pyrokinesis
While discussing the prospect with Vaggie, Alastor amusedly studies the Morningstar family portrait. Even as Vaggie vehemently advises Charlie to reject Alastor’s offer for her own good, Charlie, still wary, decides what to do. After conferring with Vaggie, Charlie admits to Alastor that she finds him "sketchy as fuck" and that she's not happy about his dismissal of her hotel and ideas, but that she feels compelled by her beliefs to give him a chance to become better - even if she doubts he'll take it. Charlie demands for no “trickster voo-doo strings attached”, in which Alastor offers his hand in an attempt to create a pact. Startled, Charlie heeds Vaggie's advice against making a deal with Alastor, refusing to shake on it. Awkwardly, Charlie attempts to use her authority as she instead orders Alastor "as Princess of Hell and Heir to the Throne" to stay and help run the hotel as long as he wants. Satisfied, Alastor shrugs and agrees. He immediately strides through the hotel and notices the lack of employees, in which he will soon bring in new employees—Niffty and Husk—to keep the hotel clean and run the front desk, true to his word.

Alastor grabs Charlie before throwing her into the air
Charlie is openly thrilled with Alastor's changes, calling it madly and beaming gladly. Vaggie's reaction is more lukewarm as she dislikes Alastor’s arrival, to which he declares that "This is going to be very entertaining!" Alastor violently shoves Vaggie out of the way and conjures a ball of fire to distract Charlie, in which after, he changes his and Charlie’s outfit to look like a 1920s flapper. Alastor begins a reprise of Charlie's earlier song "Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow." Charlie is startled by the sudden change, and Alastor goes to grab Charlie and fling her into the air, making her smile, as the scene shifts to Alastor tap-dancing with Charlie as she grins widely.

Alastor and Charlie twirl and dance together
They slide down the stairs as Alastor continues to sing—despite his much more cynical and pessimistic lyrics, Charlie seems to enjoy both the song itself and her new attire, as she gladly dances with him. Alastor - apparently sincerely - calls Charlie "one of a kind, a charming demon belle" and expresses his support towards her dreams. He announces they’ll give “these burning fools a place to dwell” as he changes the hotel’s staff’s attire as well. Later through the musical number, Alastor grabs Charlie and swings her around while squeezing her cheeks, to which she seems pleasantly surprised. Alastor pulls her forward as they begin to dance in a magical twirl, only to be interrupted by Sir Pentious attacking the hotel. Alastor seems upset to see his performance interrupted. Despite Sir Pentious’ insistence, Alastor doesn't remember ever having fought him before. After very quickly and easily beating Pentious and his minions with his tentacles, Charlie, including the rest of the crew, stares in silent horror. Nevertheless, Alastor heads back into the hotel to make jambalaya for everyone. Charlie stares at Alastor before she happily jumps up and down, expressing her excitement to Vaggie before they follow after the Radio Demon, who changes the Happy Hotel to the Hazbin Hotel.

"Overture"[]
- “Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel, a misguided path to redemption! Founded five days ago by Lucifer's delusional daughter, Charlotte Morningstar! Come place your fate in her inexperienced hands as she tries to work through her daddy issues by fixing you!”
- — Alastor in his commercial
In the first episode, it starts with a video-recorded commercial by Alastor himself - something that is worth noting as one of Alastor's greatest peeves: Intermingling with post-30s' technology - wherein, as the business partner of Charlie's project, he takes it upon himself to make a commercial for the hotel as his second order of business.
Albeit the end result being unsatisfactory in Vaggie's eyes, Charlie was thankful enough for the effort Alastor went through for it, although also having a slight issue with the way he worded the script.
Later on, after Lucifer himself informs his daughter via call about a meeting Adam the archangel agreed to go to in favor of hearing Charlie's proposal, Vaggie confronts Alastor about the commercial. After attempting, but failing, to record him for a "better" commercial, Alastor uses the demon princess' feelings as leverage against Vaggie after he correctly presumes that the latter's meeting with Adam won't go anywhere productive.
In exchange for making Charlie happy by making a better commercial, Alastor proposes to Vaggie that no one should ever make him use any post-30s' technology again. After Vaggie begrudgingly agrees to his offer, Alastor effortlessly gets the staff and residents of the hotel to film the final version of the commercial all before Charlie's return.
"Radio Killed the Video Star"[]
In this episode, Vox, the long-time rival of Alastor, is informed by Valentino of Alastor's whereabouts after the Radio Demon's conspicious return after seven long years of being M.I.A.
In the midst of this, Sir Pentious comes back to threaten Alastor again for the week as he spots the latter drinking tea on the hotel balcony. He teleports himself next to Charlie after spotting the steampunk villain with his army of sentient eggs, all the while embarrassing Pentious, telling him how forgettable he is.
Back at the Vees' headquarters, Valentino then adds how, not only has Alastor returned, but that the latter is also currently "living with Lucifer Morningstar's daughter".
Threatened by this, Vox voices out how lethal the dynamic between the Radio Demon and the Princess of Hell would be against his own affairs, and has made it his new mission to make sure that they will not strike a deal with each other, even sending Sir Pentious over as an inside job spy, albeit failing shortly after.
"Dad Beat Dad"[]
- “Dad! Stop! He's defending this hotel! It may be a bit more sadistic than I'd hoped, but he's doing it for me! How come he can have faith in me but my own father can't?”
- — Charlie defending Alastor from her dad.

Alastor expresses his pride for Charlie
In this episode, once Charlie requests help from her father Lucifer, he arrives to the hotel, in which Alastor immediately comes to negative terms with him. In an attempt to infuriate Lucifer — which succeeds — Alastor plays the role of Charlie’s father figure and raves about his determination to assist her dreams. They take turns attempting to steer Charlie away from each other while Charlie attempts to defuse their tension. Charlie expresses her gratitude towards Alastor, much to Lucifer’s chagrin.

One of Alastor’s attempts to get on Lucifer’s nerves
Alastor sings the musical number “Hell’s Greatest Dad” with Lucifer. Alastor, with a newfound rivalry with Lucifer, tries to remind Charlie of all his help to her, and throughout he expresses how he wishes he had a child like her and emphasizes their father-daughter bond. However, he exaggerates his lines in order to anger Lucifer, which subsequently works as the situation escalates before Mimzy interrupts.
Afterwards, as Alastor slaughters Mimzy’s loan sharks, Charlie jumps to defend Alastor, describing his methods as being more sadistic than she hoped, but that he’s defending the hotel. Charlie, disappointed and frustrated, adds that Alastor has more faith in her than Lucifer himself.
"Hello, Rosie!"[]
- “Oh. Who’s this you brought with you? Come now, Alastor, she’s much too young for you— Oh, I’m just kidding!”
- — Rosie to Alastor about him and Charlie
While the group discusses Vaggie’s origin and what their next course of action could be, Alastor hears the mention of Charlie and decides to teleport himself to her shared room with Vaggie.

Charlie widens her eyes upon seeing Alastor next to her
Charlie sobs vehemently, curled up and devastated as Alastor comments she looks like an absolute mess. Charlie huffs and asks him to leave, and to this Alastor makes, in Charlie’s words, a sadistic idea of a joke about her failure at the court meeting in heaven. Irritated she turns away from Alastor, only to scream and fall backwards after he teleports himself next to her. Alastor poses and kicks his legs while watching Charlie express her guilt, and he attempts to rejuvenate her spirit to create a new plan for the hotel—Alastor comments he never expected a display of self-loathing from Charlie, and she crosses her arms while giving him an irritated “fuck you.”

Alastor pulls Charlie to him
Charlie sighs and explains she’s unsure how Alastor is able to enjoy all their suffering so much; to this, Alastor peeks behind her and grips her shoulders, chuckling and warning her about the surface of a smile. Continuing his words, he grips Charlie’s cheeks with a hand and explains how valuable a tool smiling is while she blinks awkwardly.
As Alastor gives more advice, Charlie falls into a spiral of doubt and frustration knowing she’s powerless, only for Alastor to break into a sing-song voice and reveal a secret — one where the angels aren’t as indestructible as believed, which turns Charlie desperate as she declares she’ll do anything to know the rest, as he asks, “Anything?” before posing a deal; Charlie, supposedly, assumes that Alastor wants her soul to which he denies and explains he wants a simple favor and hugs her by the side, before Charlie hesitantly agrees to the deal. They link hands as the pact commences, and Charlie is determined to succeed in their endeavors. Through the exchange, Alastor later pinches Charlie’s cheek and pats her head calling her a good girl, before after a short while of discussion with Vaggie, Charlie storms off to receive Alastor’s help.

Rosie jokes about Charlie and Alastor being together
Later, Alastor and Charlie are seen striding through Cannibal Town—Charlie begins to vent about her relationship with Vaggie and how she’s hurt that Vaggie was keeping secrets, all while Alastor wears a bemused and rather irked smile, supposedly not listening before he introduces her to the town. He loops his arm around Charlie’s and pulls her around the town before introducing her to Rosie. While promptly reuniting with Alastor, Rosie gains an interest in Charlie; she jokes that Alastor is with Charlie, jesting, “She’s much too young for you.” resulting in Charlie’s irritated frown and Alastor’s silence. After the exchange, Alastor introduces Charlie to Rosie and as they propose their business deal asking for Rosie’s help.

Charlie glances nervously at Alastor
After Rosie swiftly agrees, Charlie is overjoyed — they assemble in the square where Rosie attempts to have Charlie win over the army, in which Alastor comments that Charlie has never failed to inspire before. As Charlie starts her struggle and fails in a rage from Susan’s unending provoking, she is shortly encouraged by Rosie’s advice and returns to the stage, in which Alastor hands his microphone to Charlie, which she uses in the next musical number “Ready For This.” During this, Charlie glances at Alastor nervously as he sings about eating the angel’s flesh. Alastor has a line where he sings about his faith in Charlie described by, “Surprised? Why, I knew she could do it all along” as he sings duet lines with Rosie about Charlie, Alastor sings menacingly that Charlie has potential that he can guide.
"The Show Must Go On"[]

Adam shows up to the battle, though Alastor was the one keeping him from coming to the others, Charlie gets worried about him. After Alastor appears unharmed, Charlie is overjoyed as she wraps him in a hug.

Fanon[]
Charlastor is one of the most popular ships in the fandom, alongside Chaggie and Huskerdust. It is the rival ship of mainly Chaggie, as well as RadioDust, RadioApple, RadioRose, and RadioStatic. Charlastor first accumulated in the Pilot when Alastor involved himself in Charlie’s endeavors, and the ship grew in popularity during Alastor's reprise of Charlie's song for the hotel, "Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow." Wherein he uses this song as a means to persuade her into giving into his offer, all the while pissing Vaggie off while taking Charlie by the hand to dance with her, with one of the most notable parts being when Alastor tells her "Cus’ you're one of a kind, a charming demon belle!"
Early in the fandom, fans saw Charlastor as a very appealing ship for their odd partnership and Alastor being very affectionate and intimate towards Charlie. However, after the release of the series, it has been more common for fans to see Charlastor in a familial light, where Alastor acts as a father figure or mentor to Charlie, specifically after the episode “Dad Beat Dad”. Although, Alastor was faking his father-daughter bond with Charlie to infuriate Lucifer, non-shippers have interpreted Alastor to be somewhat genuine in his words, and Charlie to see Alastor as a father figure after these events. This factor has also caused criticism and controversy to be thrown at the romantic pairing of Charlastor. Additionally, after the release of “Hello Rosie!” many fans stuck to seeing Charlie as RadioRose's daughter, or similarly RadioApple's.
Fans of the pairing prefer the ship over its canon counterpart, Chaggie, as Alastor is shown to be more supportive and even encourages Charlie's endeavors, usually through song and dance, while Vaggie, conversely, disproves of Charlie singing all the time, telling her how "life isn't a musical", all the while the two seemingly keep doubting each other's ways and disprove of each other's practices. Shippers also believe Charlastor would have a more interesting dynamic.
Fans were quick to point out how, in "Dad Beat Dad", if Charlie had not introduced Vaggie as her girlfriend first, Alastor would have immediately pretended to take the role of Charlie's boyfriend to enrage Lucifer even more.
Fans mainly picture Charlastor in an alternate universe where Charlie isn’t with Vaggie, or simply enjoy the ship in a “what if” sense, as many shippers do not think Charlastor to have a canon chance in the storyline, although it is often discussed how the ship is frequently teased. There has been backlash regarding Alastor’s true motives and how he does not appear to have Charlie’s best interests in mind, although fans find this a pulling factor of the ship and look forward to see how the relationship will progress.
Supporters of the ship also pointed out how Niffty would be the perfect Charlastor child seeing as how she has Charlie's enthusiasm and rosy cheeks as well as Alastor’s psychopathic tendencies.
In one HuniCast stream, a fan donated for Ed Bosco (Alastor's pilot speaking voice) to say "Haha! My darling Charlie, you're so delightfully charming! I could just eat you up..." giving the fans a brief Charlastor moment.[1]
On October 03, 2020, YouTuber LeeandLie (AmaLee) did a collab cover with Divide Music of their fan song One Hell of a Team featuring Alastor and Charlie's dynamic. The official upload has amassed over 14 million views on the former's YouTube channel.
On October 02, 2021, the pilot singing voice for Alastor (Gabriel Brown, known online as Black Gryph0n) alongside the pilot singing voice of Charlie (Elsie Lovelock) sang a duet together as their characters, of the fan song "Heaven 2 Hell" written, produced, and mastered by Gabriel's brother (Nate, known online as @baasikmusic), with the lyrics and melody by Gabriel himself.
In a fan poll[2] created by Twitter user @knskam, Charlastor won and had advanced to the finals of the shipping war thread, beating even the likes of HuskerDust, StaticMoth, and even Chaggie. With Charlastor only losing to RadioApple during the final round.
Charlastor has its most popular fanfic being "The Taxidermist" (originally, "El Taxidermista" in Spanish) written by Ao3 author Angelus19. A human AU fic where Charlie, having been sold for her body by her aunt but mostly from her evil Uncle. She then runs into deer hunter Alastor, whom takes her in as his servant for saving her life. The fic quickly gained popularity, even prompting the author to get assistance with translating the fic in English and has been getting numerous fan arts even up to this day.
On AO3, Charlastor is the second most written ship for both Charlie and Alastor. It is also the eighth most written ship in the Hazbin Hotel (Web Series) tag. There are currently 1300+ written works.
Controversy[]
On October 28, 2020, the Hazbin Hotel fandom was celebrating the one year anniversary of the pilot, and incidentally, the one year anniversary of the Charlastor ship by its supporters.
Unfortunately, since the pilot was scheduled to premiere on that day, as commemoration of Vivziepop's birthday, this resulted in a divide amongst the fandom, with non-shippers and Vivienne herself heavily implying how the ship "overshadowed Medrano's birthday". As a response, Vivziepop mass-liked and retweeted several fan art and posts featuring Chaggie, with Vivziepop and her friends and fans also doing a massive block chain of the ship, its hashtag, and its shippers, amongst people who were also neutral on the matter.
On the other hand, the shippers were merely celebrating "Charlastor Day" without any intention of involving or dragging Vivziepop's birthday.
On February, 7, 2024, Amir Talai, Alastor's main series voice actor, commented "I Love it! #FriendshipIsTheBestShip" under a fan art post tagged with Charlastor, enraging shippers and even non-shippers, at how he disrespected the ship and the artist's preference.
On April, 20, 2024, Charlastor fan artist @topo_SS Tweeted how there were rumors of Vivziepop "taking inspiration" from two of their comics which were included in two scenes of the episode "Hello, Rosie!"[3], of which one was from 2019 and another fan comic they drew in 2022. Despite the fan artist voicing out how happy they were at the thought of it, this has also received mixed reactions from the fanbase as Vivizepop has quite the history of allegations wherein she supposedly "takes inspiration" or "outright traces" fan content/animations which she uses in her own projects without credit.
