CharlieRose is the friendship between Charlie Morningstar and Rosie from the Hazbin Hotel fandom.

Canon

In the Episode “Hello Rosie!” Charlie finds herself at a loss of alternatives to combat the upcoming extermination. Seeing this, Alastor decides to bring Charlie to his old friend, Rosie, who resides in Cannibal Town. While traveling to the town, Charlie is surprised by how nice the environment is, to which Alastor claims it’s all thanks to a “very special someone”.

When entering Rosie’s Emporium, Charlie is initially startled. Rosie notices Charlie accompanying Alastor and jokes that the two are romantically involved, calling Charlie “much too young” for Alastor. This makes Charlie frown and roll her eyes, still seeming rather taken aback. Alastor introduces Charlie to Rosie, and the Princess blinks and awkwardly greets Rosie. Rosie calls it a “regal surprise” before amiably grabbing Charlie and pushing her forward, offering her something to eat and teasing her about being a “small thing.” Charlie awkwardly denies the offer to eat a box of pinky fingers, so Rosie pats her head and sweetly calls her polite.

Rosie eases Charlie to “tell Auntie Rosie” what she can do, as the two sit across from each other. Shortly after, Charlie is frantic and explains the extermination is coming early, and Alastor butts in to explain they need Rosie’s help. Rosie jokes that Charlie doesn’t start off with small favors, which makes her stare down with a frown. However, Rosie tells her not to fret and with Alastor’s persuasion, she agrees to let the Cannibals help. Charlie is shocked and smiles widely, as Rosie winks and says she likes Charlie’s moxie. Charlie excitedly thanks Rosie with sparkling eyes of appreciation.

Rosie calls all Cannibals and Cannibalettes to the square. Walking beside a nervous and uncomfortable Charlie, Rosie comforts her by assuring that she will do everything for her clients. She explains that Charlie will have to win over the crowd to convince them into battle by using “sparkle”, “razzmatazz”, and that “oh-so appealing moxie” of hers. Alastor adds in to comfort Charlie. Rosie warns an anxious Charlie to convince the entire crowd, Susan in particular. Rosie begins the expedition as she introduces “Princess Charlie”, who immediately encounters difficulties as Susan screams and curses at her. However, Charlie ends up cracking and screams a “fuck you” at Susan and gives her a middle finger, fuming in pure rage. Rosie, smiling awkwardly grabs Charlie and pulls her away and announces they’ll be back after a brief intermission.

Rosie brings Charlie away after the conflict, and she observes the princess has more on her mind than simply angels. Charlie sighs, asking what to do when someone you love lies to you about who you are—that being Vaggie—, as Rosie then recognizes it as romance and eagerly jumps to advise Charlie. Rosie asks for details, leading to Charlie explaining her girlfriend is an exorcist angel and that the truth was hidden from her. Rosie is surprised and asks who it makes Charlie feel, the latter who answers that she’s angry. Charlie explains she doesn’t know if Vaggie has been lying to her more than simply being an angel, gasping and realizing that’s been her worry. Now, Rosie watches a sighing Charlie and asks if she loves Vaggie. Charlie answers yes, to which Rosie asks if she ever doubted Vaggie’s love. Rosie sits down next to Charlie, who is truly melancholic and shakes her head as a no.

Rosie advises Charlie

Rosie asks Charlie if her hotel is all about redemption, explaining that perhaps Vaggie was trying to redeem herself in favor of Charlie. Rosie tells Charlie it’s difficult to admit to things you aren’t proud of, and especially when to someone you love. Rosie assures Charlie that Vaggie sure “fucked up” and that she’s flawed, but she asks who in Hell isn’t. Charlie smiles, and Rosie, assuring, touches her shoulder and says that actions speak the truth. Rosie asks what Vaggie’s actions say, to which Charlie answers that Vaggie believes in her and what she’s doing—this conversation proves to change Charlie’s sadness and agony as she is now encouraged. Rosie assures Rosie that singing may work this time, so the Princess goes back to the square and begins to sing “Ready For This.” Rosie watches excitedly, proud.

Rosie’s reaction to seeing Charlie succeed

Throughout the song Rosie encourages Charlie to keep singing despite the Cannibals being extra bloodthirsty, which Rosie claims as a sign of enthusiasm. Along with Alastor Rosie pushes Charlie forward to continue convincing the crowd, and Rosie is excited as she is truly proud to see Charlie convince the Cannibals. Towards the end, Rosie sings with Alastor about Charlie passing the test as the Princess of Hell. At the end, the duo joins Charlie in song, as they support the princess in preparing to fight.

Fanon

CharlieRose is a very popular friendship in the fandom. Almost instantly, fans saw Rosie as Charlie’s mother figure and mentor—and a replacement for Lilith—with various factors playing like how Rosie called herself “Auntie Rosie” and went on to support Charlie and help her deal with her emotions towards Vaggie. Rosie encouraging Charlie and expressing her happiness over the latter’s success made fans quick to realize Rosie was indeed a parent figure for Charlie. Vagmilla is seen as a partnering friendship since many fans see Vaggie—Charlie’s lover—as Carmilla’s daughter similarly to CharlieRose, since both pairings were a big simultaneous focus in Episode 7.

On AO3, there are currently 40+ gen works. As a partner to CharlieRose, RadioRose is sometimes shipped alongside in a more platonic way where Rosie and Alastor are Charle’s supportive parents.
