Charlola is the femslash ship between Charlie and Lola from the Brawl Stars fandom.
Canon[]
Charlie and Lola are female playable characters in Brawl Stars and, depending on the player's choices, can face off or cooperate in online modes. They don't interact directly in the game. However, in the Bizarre Circus intro animation, Charlie and Lola, who has her Cobra skin, are performing one of their shows. At the beginning, Lola appears on stage with one of her snakes to start her act. Nevertheless, she is interrupted by Charlie, who proceeds to enclose her in her cocoon's hair and carry her off stage to steal the audience's view, but sooner rather than later her other circus companions take her away. Later, when Charlie is about to start her presentation again, Lola appears in front of the audience performing a kind of dance with her arms. Those women along with Nita and Sam continue to interfere with their shows until they get tired of the situation and start hitting each other in front of everyone. In the end, the four stop fighting and look at the audience with concern. As a consequence, the spectators applaud and cheer, believing that everything seen was part of the show, the circus artists lean their bodies forward in gratitude.
They share several similarities. They are both part of the world of entertainment: Charlie is a circus trapeze artist and Lola works as a film actress. Likewise, they are considered famous by their audience because the green-haired woman is a talented Brawlywood movie star while the other woman is the main attraction of the Bizarre Circus. They constantly seek to have the leading role in the programs where they participate. As a result, they tend to have negative and selfish personalities. These attitudes are shown in Gray's introduction animation where Lola tries to steal his scene and the circus season introduction animation where Charlie ruins her co-workers' shows to gain prominence. However, they retain a degree of elegance typical of the world of show business. Both have lines of dialogue external to the English language: Lola speaks Spanish and Charlie in French. Nonetheless, the half-spider woman has more phrases in that language. Consequently, it can be deduced that she has greater command of that language. In the game, both have moderate health, a long attack range, and average movement speed.
They also have notable differences. Despite having a similar personality, Lola's ego level surpasses Charlie's. On the one hand, Lola is obsessed with herself, thinking that the entire world must revolve around her, reaching an unhealthy level of narcissism. On the other hand, she is capable of personifying her ego to serve as a weapon. In the game, Charlie belongs to the controller class and has a mythical quality, while Lola is a damage dealer of epic rarity. In terms of gameplay, the way of attacking and the number of projectiles in her basic attack is different: the movie star has 3 ammunition and attacks in bursts of 6 projectiles while the circus performer only has a single ammunition to do damage. Likewise, Charlie's super attack is more defensive because it allows her to immobilize enemies with her hair and Lola's creates an ego clone of herself that mimics her attacks allowing her to be more aggressive.
Fanon[]
Charlola is a relatively well-known ship in the Brawl Stars fandom and is one of the most popular characters, rivaling GrayLola and SpiderStation. A strong community was formed in the English language, although it also has a presence in the Spanish-speaking, Russian and Polish community of the game, being very active on Twitter and Tiktok. A small portion of people began pairing them romantically since Brawl Talk that announced the season of Bizarre Circus because they noticed and found it attractive to pair Lola, with her Cobra skin, with Charlie. The fan base increased with the subsequent release of promotional arts and animations showing the two women working together in the circus, although not in the best way. This resulted in fans conceiving the idea of a dynamic of hate and/or competitiveness where both seek to steal the public's attention. However, others prefer to propose that they would have a better understanding of each other's actions and, after a time of getting to know each other well, they could work as a team, be friends and fall in love. These headcanons are usually represented in the fanarts.
The couple's fanworks usually respect the real behavior of the characters: Lola is narcissistic and Charlie is elegant, but also somewhat egomaniacal. Likewise, they like to present a scenario where there is a firm rivalry between them and Lola's strong hatred towards her partner, who receives individual shows while she is forced to be secondary. Nevertheless, these stories are also characterized by the strong romantic and sexual tension between women and, mostly, Lola tries to repress it under an apathetic face.
