Roses and Muskets Event[]

Act I: Chevreuse is first introduced via Chiori, who recommends Chevreuse to be the action choreographer for “The Two Musketeers” and informs Furina that she personally knows the Special Patrol’s captain. When asked how she knows their captain, Chiori simply responds that as a business owner, she’s run into trouble a few times and Chevreuse has helped her out whenever they have happened. In exchange, Chiori has helped handle a few situations the Special Patrol couldn’t get directly involved in. They thus became friends over time this way. To sum it up, Chiori and Chevreuse are good friends, and have developed a close relationship due to their lines of work.

Chiori takes the film group to a book stall, where she knew Chevreuse would be at that day, and then approaches Chevreuse and strikes up a seemingly innocent conversation about the detective novel that Chevreuse is pretending to read. The shopkeeper takes this opportunity of Chevreuse being “distracted” to sell Sinthe hidden inside a book to a customer. Chevreuse arrests them both, and Chiori reveals that her conversation with Chevreuse had all been part of the plan to speed up the arrest. In fact, Chiori was the one who provided Chevreuse with the intel about the illegal contraband.

Chiori has the Traveler and Paimon ask Chevreuse to be the action choreographer for their film’s actors, which Chevreuse agrees to.

Act IV: After the murder case that Chevreuse had been investigating is resolved and explained to the film crew, Chiori states how they should now be even more motivated to spread the word about their film now that they’ve learned the truth. Chevreuse agrees with her, saying how she’d also like more people to see the story for themselves. Chevreuse then adds how she’d be giving the Duke of Meropide a “heads-up” about the suspects she’d just arrested, to which Chiori says “Oh, you mean, "that" kind of heads-up?”, implying that Chiori already knows what Chevreuse is referring to without the captain having to explain it.

Act V: At the end of the quest, after the group’s film wins the Furina Award, the group takes a picture together with Chevreuse and Chiori standing side-by-side together in the photo. Chiori can then later be found at her boutique, where she offers the Traveler and Paimon couture services as thanks for helping her friends, including Chevreuse.

Chiori’s Story Quest[]

Part 1, Where Honed Blades Clash: After deciding she needs to teach her rival a lesson, Chiori goes to find Chevreuse, refers to her as “Officer,” and requests for Chevreuse to come with her somewhere. Chevreuse quips how nothing good ever comes out of Chiori after she refers to Chevreuse as “Officer” and how only Chiori ever demands the captain to come with her anywhere, when usually it’s the captain demanding others to come with her instead. Chevreuse has Chiori explain what she plans on doing, noting out loud how Chiori always violates proper procedure with her actions, before agreeing to go along with her to supervise her.

On their way to Chiori’s rival’s house, Paimon notes how Chiori and Chevreuse seem to be pretty close to one another. Chevreuse explains how they mutually need each other’s help often, and got to know each other pretty well over time as a result. Chevreuse describes their relationship as a "you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours" sort of situation. Chevreuse ensures Chiori’s safety, and Chiori helps get Chevreuse information from vain upper class customers who brag a lot about many things while in Chiori’s clothing boutique. In very rare cases, however, Chevreuse has to protect other people from Chiori herself.

After finding out who got Chiori’s ire this time, Chevreuse is unsurprised, saying, “His funeral, I guess.” She then correctly predicts that she’ll have to protect Chiori’s rival from Chiori herself this time, with a man being thrown out of a building by Chiori shortly afterwards. When the man begs Chevreuse for help, Chevreuse pretends to not have seen what had happened and asks to investigate the man’s house for evidence. Hearing that, the man changes his mind and says what happened wasn’t a big deal after all, and Chiori politely gives “Ms. Chiori” a warning for disorderly conduct in the open. Chiori responds in kind, apologizing to the “Officer.” Chevreuse then asks if either of them have anything else to say about the matter, and the incident ends. It's implied that this is not the first time that Chevreuse has turned a blind eye to Chiori's actions.

Once the man is gone, Chevreuse scolds Chiori for being so violent and asks if she couldn’t have reported the man to the Gardes instead. Chiori explains herself, then asks Chevreuse for another favor, to which Chevreuse says that Chiori had used up her favor quota for today already. Chiori asks to take an advance for tomorrow’s quota then, to which Chevreuse quips back that Chiori’s maxed out on advances, too.

Part 3, The Woven and the Cut: After Chiori’s fashion show ends, Chevreuse appears and begins to list all the public rules that Chiori had broken. The captain then feigns ignorance, stating how if Chiori, the Traveler, or Paimon comes across anyone breaking those rules, then they should report the incident to the Special Patrol at their earliest convenience. Chiori gets mad at that, asking if Chevreuse enjoyed scaring her half to death like that. Chevreuse responds how Chiori should tell her in advance the next time she plans on pulling a stunt like that again then, to save Chevreuse the anxiety she had upon first seeing it.

Chiori says how she’s more than made it up to Chevreuse already for that, by discovering a whole underground workshop in Fleuve Cendre and delivering the man responsible to the captain already. Chevreuse agrees to that, and then Navia appears to treat everyone to a meal for all their efforts. Chevreuse declines, but before she leaves, the captain lets Chiori know that one of her business partners wants to apologize to her and that Chiori’s show was really amazing. Chiori seems taken aback by Chevreuse's compliment and appreciation and averts her gaze as Chevreuse walks away.

Other[]

In Chiori’s Character Teaser, after Chiori tosses an unruly customer out through her shop’s window, Chevreuse appears behind the broken glass to exasperatedly ask who Chiori had thrown out this time. Chiori denies doing such a thing, stating how the customer had jumped out on his own instead, to which Chevreuse replies that, “...This can’t happen again.” - implying that this is a reccurring event for the both of them.[1]

In Chevreuse’s voiceline about Chiori, she notes how Chiori is always right despite her more aggressive manner of dealing with conflicts. Because of this, along with Chiori’s valuable network of information that is extremely helpful to the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol, Chevreuse turns a blind eye to Chiori’s violence. Chevreuse knows Chiori well enough to know that Chiori won’t waste her time with any explanations or excuses about what she does.

In Chiori’s voiceline about Chevreuse, Chiori mentions how easy it is for her to work with and converse with Chevreuse - so easy that when Chiori needs to return to work, she needs to take a moment to get focused again.

Quotes[]

“Chiori's method of resolving disputes is bit radical. But, she has quite the network at her disposal and has provided the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol with intelligence on more than one occasion. In return, I turn a blind eye whenever she throws someone out the door or runs a malignant competitor out of business. If you look into it, you'll find that Chiori is always in the right. She's just not the type to waste her breath on explanations.”
— Chevreuse’s Voiceline about Chiori
“Working with Chevreuse and talking with her are a cinch. So easy, in fact, that whenever I say goodbye to her and return to tending to my customers again, it takes me a moment to shift gears mentally.”
— Chiori’s Voiceline about Chevreuse
“It’s just as Chiori said - we got to know each other pretty well in our lines of work… You could call it a “you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours” sort of situation.”

Fanon[]

Cheviori is a ship that emerged when the two characters were first revealed and interacted with each other in the “Roses and Muskets” event, which gained more traction following the release of Chiori and her Story Quest. They are initially revealed as already good friends with one another with a shared history of working together, and fans especially enjoyed how the two characters seemed to know each other very well right off the bat, with Chiori being able to tell what Chevreuse was doing and smoothly aiding Chevreuse’s plan without tipping the suspect off.

After the two characters' release, their voicelines about each other and Chiori’s story quest further reinforced what the players already knew by then. Chiori and Chevreuse have worked together for a long time, and because of this, they are good friends and both know each other very well. Fans greatly liked how Chevreuse basically let Chiori do whatever she wanted (including overlooking her violent methods of dealing with unsavory customers and rivals and her unauthorized fashion show that broke many public rules), even going so far as to back up and cover for Chiori's actions. Chiori also shows a great deal of trust in Chevreuse, asking the Special Patrol captain to watch over her as she enacted her aggressive tactics. Implied by their dialogue, this is sometimes even a daily occurrence.

In essence, Chiori offers intel in exchange for favors from Chevreuse. And also, due to the fact that Chiori is let off the hook by Chevreuse numerous times within the events of her story quest, they are considered to have a ‘partners in crime’ dynamic.

Furthermore, fans of the pairing enjoy it as both Chevreuse and Chiori are seen as ‘intimidating’, but act in a soft manner toward one another; noting that Chiori seems more relaxed when talking to Chevreuse and smiles more easily with her.

Cheviori currently has 25+ works on AO3.
