Chiccolo is the het ship between Chi-Chi and Piccolo from the Dragon Ball fandom.
Canon[]
Most of the ship's interactions happen in the anime series, specifically in Dragon Ball Super.
Dragon Ball[]
Piccolo Jr. Saga[]
Chi-Chi and Piccolo both participated in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, where they both knew Goku would also be participating. When Chi-Chi enters the tournament, she hides her name as “Anonymous” so she wouldn’t be recognized by Goku and his friends as she has wanted to meet him and surprise him for personal reasons, though it will turn into a serious fight when she realizes Goku doesn’t realize who she is. Piccolo also hides his real name and uses “Junior” (“Ma Junior” in Japanese manga and anime) as an alias when he enters the tournament, so people wouldn’t recognize him. His goal was to fight Goku in the tournament, and kill him to avenge his father’s death. However, unlike with Chi-Chi, Goku does recognize who Piccolo is. This makes both Chi-Chi and Piccolo’s circumstances to be in the tournament very similar, yet different.
Piccolo also did watch Chi-Chi and Goku’s fight in the tournament, and in turn she followed Piccolo and Goku’s fight.
Dragon Ball Z[]
Trunks Saga[]
In filler part of the episode 125 of anime Chi-Chi orders Goku and Piccolo to get a driving license or they won’t get anything to eat. In the end they failed the test and Chi-Chi fainted, because of the news.
Eventually when Goku, Piccolo and Gohan one day leave to find the androids, she wishes for them all to be careful, including Piccolo.
Dragon Ball Super[]
God of Destruction Beerus Saga[]
Both Piccolo and Chi-Chi join Bulma’s birthday party. When Beerus threatens to destroy the Earth and the saiyans try to create a Super Saiyan God to save it, Piccolo doubts that Vegeta has a righteous saiyan heart to make it work. Chi-Chi is one of the people who berates him for thinking like that.
Golden Frieza Saga[]
Piccolo and Chi-Chi have been grocery shopping together as it’s shown that they are carrying a lot of groceries for pregnant Videl, and Gohan. Piccolo asks why he has to help Chi-Chi with the groceries and she answers by saying that he is always eating free, so he could at least help her from time to time. Soon Piccolo notices Goku, who was starting a fight with someone and not working like he should be, and mentions his existence to Chi-Chi. She soon starts to look for Goku and moves her eyes to the direction Piccolo is looking. She then yells at Goku, who escapes from the fight with Mr. Satan’s “help”. Piccolo is left standing with Chi-Chi as he also notes that Goku ran away.
Universe 6 Saga[]
In the anime Piccolo is participating in the fight against Universe 6’s strongest fighters. Chi-Chi is one of the spectators who join on the journey to the Nameless Planet, where the fight tournament is held. While they travel through space in Whis’ cube, Chi-Chi brought a grill with them and is cooking some food for everyone. Piccolo comments on this while also seen holding a plate of food and chopsticks, to which Chi-Chi simply answers that the food is better hot and fresh.
Copy-Vegeta Saga[]
Chi-Chi, Goku and Goten went to Gohan’s house, because they lost their own house when Goku accidentally destroyed it. Piccolo is seen holding Pan on his lap and stroking her cheek with his finger, while Gohan and Videl are still gone from their house. But soon Piccolo is leaving, which prompts Chi-Chi to ask where he is going. He tells he has other things to do as well when he is not needed there anymore to watch over Pan. Despite this he feels the need to ask Chi-Chi if she can make any baby food for Pan, to which Chi-Chi admits that she can make it, after all she has two sons. As she tells Piccolo she will see what is in the fridge and make something out of it, Piccolo stops her and tells Chi-Chi what Pan likes to eat and how to prep the food correctly. Chi-Chi answers in affirmative. Piccolo then continues to introduce how to take care of Pan by showing where they can find her toys, books, and tells if she cries during the night, they should sing to her. This does surprise Goku and Chi-Chi as they then confirm that Piccolo indeed does sing to her. Chi-Chi is even seen holding her hand over her mouth in surprise.
Piccolo then leaves, but only takes a few steps out of the house and suddenly turns back into the house, re-enters and gives more instructions on how to take care of Pan. In the end, he stays with Chi-Chi, Goku, Goten and Pan.
When Pan disappears, Piccolo yells at Goku for losing her, despite having warned him about it earlier. Chi-Chi then says that they don't have time to argue, to which Piccolo continues that they need to split up and start looking for her. They eventually find her sleeping on the couch after a long day of searching.
"Future" Trunks Saga[]
Piccolo has been invited to visit Goku’s family’s massive vegetable fields which are ready to be harvested. He asks Goku what kind of training he had in mind and when Goku wants Piccolo to help him harvest the vegetables, Piccolo answers that this is work, not training. While they talk, Chi-Chi then pushes Piccolo and tells him that they should hurry up and start harvesting or it will never get done.
Goku tells them that this is a race to collect as many as possible, and whoever does is the winner. Piccolo says he hasn’t agreed to this yet, but Chi-Chi then starts counting and both Piccolo and Goku suddenly take their starting positions. They start the race and Piccolo curses while collecting the cabbages and realizes that he kind of got taken in on the race on instinct.
At one point in the race Goku suddenly leaves with Instant Transmission to train with Whis, so Chi-Chi puts Krillin on the field to work. She also tells him to look at Piccolo (when pointing at him), because he is “enjoying” the work. This just confuses Piccolo who really wasn’t there to work.
Later when Piccolo and Krillin are finished with the harvest, Chi-Chi comes back with Goten to tell the urgent news about the time machine that has arrived. Chi-Chi is sitting right opposite from Piccolo’s position when telling the news and they have a short conversation about it until Piccolo and Krillin leave.
In episode 72, after Goku’s second fight against Hit, worried Chi-Chi appears with Gohan, Piccolo and Goten to see Goku. She is happy that Goku is all right, though he says that there was nothing to be worried about. She then tells him that Piccolo told her that an assassin was after him and Piccolo then quietly apologizes to Goku about it.
Super Hero Saga[]
In the manga chapter 91, Pan is visiting Piccolo and she tells him about Goten and Trunks' superhero shenanigans, which eventually was stopped when their families found it out. She tells how her grandma (Chi-Chi) was mad when she found it out as both of their studying was suffering. Piccolo seems to be somewhat interested to know that Chi-Chi is still one of the "helicopter moms".
Fanon[]
Chiccolo is known as a rarepair ship in the fandom. Before Dragon Ball Super anime brought up more rare scenes with them, they didn’t interact much before despite sharing a connection through Goku and Gohan. Chi-Chi would not first trust Piccolo, because of the bad history Piccolo had with the family before, but eventually he would become part of the Son family. This helps shippers to include Piccolo with Chi-Chi and her family in stories.
In some of the fanfictions, the pairing would usually connect in the time after Cell saga. When in canon things would calm down for several years and Goku wanted to stay dead, leaving his son, Gohan, and his wife, Chi-Chi (who later is revealed to have been pregnant when Goku died), to fend for themselves. It’s then when in fanon Piccolo would support Gohan and slowly in extension Chi-Chi also, and eventually Goten. Some AU stories also have Chi-Chi and Gohan living by themselves already, and Piccolo meeting them and getting to know them, and eventually falling in love with Chi-Chi while becoming Gohan’s father figure.
In the Dragon Ball Super anime, some scenes with Piccolo and Chi-Chi lead fans of the ship to think that Piccolo is really Chi-Chi's second husband, especially since it seems that some of Goku's responsibilities are sometimes given to Piccolo. Some scenes also imply that Chi-Chi and Piccolo do interact off-screen more. Unfortunately, the manga isn't very keen on showing this relationship.
The ship’s most prominent part may be the height difference, which fans of large height differences between ship pairs will have fun with.
However, there are fans in the Dragon Ball fandom who dislike the ship because of a few things in the DB series; Chi-Chi is married to Goku, Piccolo has not shown any romantic or sexual interest in other beings, and some DB fans also like to point out that technically Piccolo is only few years older than Gohan, which makes shipping Chi-Chi and Piccolo weird to them. Although, within a couple of years, Piccolo's body biologically grew to about the same age as Goku before they fought in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. And him being a reincarnation of his father King Piccolo, and due to his namekian fusion with Nail and later Kami, his body, and especially his mind can be considered to be older than technically he is. Either way, for some fans the idea of shipping Chi-Chi and Piccolo is more comfortable in later parts of DBZ timeline and onwards.
Currently there is over 80 fanfics on AO3 for the pairing. Its rival ships are GoChi, Piccoku and Piccohan, and it's part of GoChiccolo polyship.
