Chickron is the cargo ship between Ron Weasley and chicken from the Harry Potter fandom.
Canon[]
The Weasley family kept chickens in a large chicken coop at the Burrow. Fleur Delacour once commented saying that there isn't much to do at the Burrow, "unless you like cooking and chickens". It is highly likely Ron would have had chicken meals regularly at the Burrow.
In Ron’s first year at Hogwarts, chicken legs were served during the Welcoming Feast. Ron attempts to eat the chicken, but is frightened by the ghost of Nearly Headless Nick who moves through the table. Later, he takes a bite out of one chicken leg, and holds another in his hand.
Hogwarts would often serve chicken for their students, and had a range of dishes, including chicken fricassee, chicken noodle soup, chicken salad and chicken pot pie. Ron Weasley was also served chicken at the End-of-Term Feast. He was chastised by Hermione for eating too much.
In Ron’s fourth year at Hogwarts, he alongside Hermione and Harry sent Sirius Black chicken while he was hiding out in the mountains near Hogsmeade.
Fanon[]
Chickron was inspired by the more famous Drapple ship. Drapple is the ship between Draco and an apple and became a popular joke in the fandom. It then inspired fans to ship the other characters with food. The ship is sometimes referred to as Chikron.
Ron is seen eating a chicken leg in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and hence Chickron was coined. The earliest usage of Chickron was around 2011 from a HP Shipping confession, and was added in the Urban Dictionary in September of that year.[1]
A range of memes have been created about Chickron, and even some fanart has been created. The ship is commonly shipped alongside Drapple, with most memes or fanworks relating to them both. Additionally, it is also shipped alongside Ludding (Luna and pudding), and Remolate (Lupin and chocolate).
Fanfiction for Chickron is rare, but does exist. ‘Ron Loves Chicken’ exists as a tag on Archive of Our Own and has 1 work tagged under it’s entry. On Wattpad, there are 30 stories under the Chickron tag. In most of the fan fictions Ron is mostly eating Chicken wings at KFC, or McDonalds or some other restaurants. Ron is seen as a character who likes eating.
