Children of Destiny is the family ship between Nils and Ninian from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
Nils and Ninian are two playable characters from Fire Emblem Binding Blade. Ninian and her baby brother Nils were born in Illia centuries before the main game events. They are born from an human father named Nergal and an Ice dragon mother named Aenir. During the The Scouring (a war between humans and dragons) Aenir was kidnapped by men. Nergal bring his children on the island of Valor where was located the Dragon Gate, the Dragon Gate is a gate that transport dragons to an other world. Nergal let them to search for Aenir, he tell them to pass through the Dragon's Gate if he didn't returned in 10 days. Nils and Ninian used the Dragon's Gate without their father and went to the other world.
Nergal wanted to reunite with his children but he was unable to open the Dragon Gate. To do so, he turned to dark magic to obtain more power. He found a way to stop aging. However the dark magic corrupted Nergal who forget about his children and why he wanted power. In the other world Ninian has become a well-respected and powerful priestess. Nergal called Nils and Ninian through the Dragon's Gate. Ninian was nostalgic of her homeland and she crossed the gate with Nils. After crossing the gate they lost their energy and were forced to revert their human form. Nergal who had forgotten about them and who believed that he wanted to open the Dragon's Gate to steal the quintessence of dragons to have more power held them captive. thumb|Ninian reuniting with Nils after being saved by Eliwood Nergal wanted to force Nils and Ninian to calls dragons in Elibe. The siblings escaped and disguised themselves as wandering artists. Nergal sent the Black Fang (a group of assassins and mercenaries that is manipulated by Nergal) after them. Nils and Ninian hide in Khathelet (a part of Lycia) and find refuge in an inn. However some time after they are found by the Black Fang, Ninian is captured but Nils escape. Nils meet Lyn and her companions who decide to help him. Lyn and her legion defeat the Black Fang members that were after Nils. On the same time Ninian was saved by Eliwood. Ninian and Nils choose to stay with Lyn and her companions. Ninian had twisted her ankle and she was unable to dance for the group but Nils assisted Lyndis’s Legion with his music. A few days after that Lyndis reunited with her grandfather at Caelin Nils and Ninian mysteriously leaved.
Some time after leaving Caelin the siblings are recaptured by Nergal. They are imprisoned on Valor alongside Elbert, a noble of Lycia and Eliwood's father. During their captivity Elbert comfort them by telling them about his wife and his son. Some time after Elbert helped the siblings to escape. They tried to flee the island on a small boat but are caught on a storm. Nils later finds himself back on Valor. On the same time Eliwood had go on a quest to find his missing father, alongside many companions (including Lyn and Hector) he embarked on Fargus's pirate ship to go on Valor where his schearch led him. Ninian's derivation led her to Fargus's pirate ship. When she reunite with the lords she is in a state of deliriousness. She has became amnesic. When the group arrive on Valor they fought some members of the Black Fang. When they arrive near the Dragon's Gate, Ninian is captured by Ephidel (one of Nergal's minion). Nergal mindcontroles Ninian and force her to open the Dragon's Gate and to summon a fire dragon, but before the end of the summoning ritual Nils appears and break Ninian out of her trance. She also regain her memory. Elbert sacrifice his life to weaken Nergal by attacking him. The group manage to escape with Nils and Ninian.
After leaving the island, the army pass the night an inn. But the city is attacked by the Black Fang, the army fight them. Nils and Ninian stayed in the inn, Ninian want to rush out to help the army but is stopped by Nils. He share his energy with her to give her the strength to help the others. Ninian help the army with her dancer skill and became a permanent member of it. The group's quest to stop Nergal led them to meet with two of the eight legends Athos and Bramimond. Athos explain to them that to fight Nergal they need to obtain the divine weapons used during the Scouring. The group go to the Shrine of Seals where Bramimond has to lift the seal on the divine weapons so that the group can get them. After a long battle against the last remain of the Black Fang, the group finally reach the Shrine but Nergal (whose energy have been fully restored) appears and capture Nils. Ninian surrender to Nergal in exchange for letting her brother free. Before that Negal and Ninian leave she give back to Nils his energy. The group is more determined than ever to stop Nergal. Hector obtain the legendary axe Armads while on the same time Eliwood obtain the legendary sword Durandal. After the obtention of Durandal an ice dragon appears. Eliwood influenced by the Durandal slain the dragon with the legendary sword. Nergal appears and reveal that the ice dragon was Ninian on her true form. Before her final breath Ninian revert to her human form and say to Eliwood that she is glad he is unharmed before she die. Athos attack Nergal who flee. Nils (who was on a trance) awake and discover the death of his sister and is devastated. After mourning Ninian for some time Nils decide to replace her in the army to honor her memory. thumb|Nils being devastated by his sister's death. The army finally fought Nergal on Valor near the Dragon's Gate and they finally kill the Dark Druid. However before his death Nergal summoned three fire dragons.Bramimond appears and resurrect Ninian. Ninian use her ice power on the dragons which kill two of them and weaken the last one. The remaining fire dragon is slain by the army.
If Ninian has an A support with Eliwood they fall in love during their adventure. Nils has noticed that Ninian and Eliwood feeling and tell Ninian to stay in the human world with Eliwood. Nils farawell his humans friends and his sister before returning to the Dragon's Gate and seal it forever. Later Ninian and Eliwood marry and became the parent of Roy.
If Ninian didn't have an A support with Eliwood she will return with Nils. The farewell their humans friends and share their hope that in their world humans could live in peace with dragons. They return to their world and seal the gate forever.

Children of Destiny is a popular sibling pair since the release of Fire Emblem the Blazing Blade. Many fanarts show them together. Some fans of the sibling pair hate the ending obtained if Ninian A supported Eliwood where she left her brother to stay with Eliwood and choose to never pair Ninian with Eliwood. Some fans also love both Elnini and Children of Destiny. Many fanfictions focused on their sibling bound take place in the ending where Ninian stay with Eliwood and show Nils and Ninian's sadness and farwell. Some other fanworks depict them in Fire Emblem Heroes sometime reuniting after the ending where Ninian left Nils. Some fanarts depict the pair in different contexts (like for exemple with different species). Other fanworks showing them when they were very young with their parents Aenir and Nergal exist but are rare since it's difficult to unlock the bonus chapter where their story is told.
