Chimondo is the slash ship between Chihiro Fujisaki and Mondo Owada from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
The first time they interacted, Mondo lunged at Byakuya Togami for making Chihiro cry. Mondo has a protective side, especially when it comes to girls, and stood up for Chihiro since he thought he was a girl. The next day, Mondo accidentally shouted and caused Chihiro to cry. Mondo immediately apologizes and promises not to shout again. In hopes of gaining strength, Chihiro would later ask Mondo to train with him, revealing that he was male and wanting to change from being weak to strong.
Mondo, feeling jealous of Chihiro's inner strength in comparison to his own, killed him in a blind rage, with the use of a dumbbell. Mondo soon regretted his actions and attempted to make it up to Chihiro by keeping his secret for as long as possible by switching the crime scene to the girl's changing room and by breaking Chihiro's e-Handbook in the sauna so his gender wouldn't be revealed. Mondo was later executed willingly by Monokuma after being discovered as the culprit.
Sometime after Mondo and Chihiro's deaths, the remaining survivors found a high school picture of the two laughing with Leon Kuwata, possibly meaning that the two were friends prior to the Tragedy. In Danganronpa 3, Mondo is shown working with Chihiro to help seal up the school.
Ultimate Talent Development Plan[]
The two have one event together in the non-canon bonus mode of New Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. The event shows Chihiro and Mondo after a training session during the times when the former is busy with his research. Mondo compliments his trainee for making progress and getting physically stronger. Noticing his progress, Chihiro ponders revealing that he's actually a boy to his classmates before graduation, meaning a positive outcome of their canonical confrontation about the issua had occured in this universe, as the two are training together and Mondo knows his secret. Fujisaki also adds that it's thanks to Owada that he feels he's able to share his secret with others. Meanwhile, Mondo wonders if he can make a similar progress and be as mentally strong as Chihiro.
Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp[]
The two have 4 events together in total, one of which is a group event.
In their event with Tenko Chabashira, the girl insults Mondo in her typical manner. Finding out how harsh she is towards him, Chihiro is upset and also feels like he's deceiving Tenko, pretending to be a girl. He wonders if she'd be upset upon learning his secret due to her hatred of men, but Owada tells him not to be considerate of someone full of such blind animosity. When Fujisaki witnesses Chabashira being harsh towards his friend, he stands up for him and decides that both of them will leave her alone.
In their Campfire event, Chihiro thanks Mondo for always being there for him and training with him, claiming it has helped to build up his courage. The latter thanks for their trainings as well.
In their event with Masaru Daimon, the two hang together and discuss Chihiro's swimsuit, which switches the topic to his plans come out with his secret. Mondo once again wonders about Tenko's reaction, believing she'd go on a rampage. The two talk about how she's biased against boys when suddenly Masaru Daimon appears. Believing Chihiro is a female, he runs to tell Monokubs that Mondo invited a girl to a bath. Wanting Chihiro to come out on his own terms, the two run after the boy to prevent the secret from being revealed prematurely.
In their group event, Mondo agrees with Chihiro that he shouldn't overspeed on Kazuichi Soda's jet-propelled raft when he has passangers onboard.
Quotes[]
- “...I want to change. I wrapped myself in lies. I'm weak. I want to destroy that version of me forever! I have to change. I don't want to be weak anymore. You're so strong, it can't hurt you, right? Whatever secret Monokuma might tell us...”
- — Chihiro explains his reason to share his secret with Mondo in Chapter 2 of Danganronpa 1.
- “N-No, I just...really admire you. I admire...your strength...”
- — Chihiro admiring Mondo's strength.
Fanon[]
The ship sailed as a result of their plot in Chapter 2 of Danganronpa 1. The fact that Chihiro is one of two characters Mondo had the most important interactions with also helped. It was even further fueled with the two being polar opposites with each other, with Chihiro being physically weak but mentally strong and Mondo being physically strong but mentally weak. This made a lot of fans enjoy their dynamics together.
On AO3 it is the most written Chihiro and the second most written for Mondo. As such, among Mondo's ships, it only loses in popularity to Ishimondo. Some of those fanfictions focus on an alternate timeline where the two actually get to exercise with each other.
