ChouKaru is the het ship between Chōji Akimichi and Karui from the Naruto fandom.
Canon[]
The two were a part of the Allied Shinobi Force before the Fourth Shinobi World War, although it is unknown if they met during the alliance before the war, during the war in the battle against the Ten-Tails, or after the war.
Sakura Hiden: Thoughts of Love, Riding Upon a Spring Breeze[]
Sakura was shocked when Ino told her that Chōji was interested in Karui and would often find an excuse to travel to Kumogakure to see her.
Prologue[]
Chōji and Karui would eventually marry and together they would have a daughter named Chōchō. As Chōji and Karui stayed close with their childhood friends, they got to know the kids of their friends over the years. In Chōchō early childhood, they had Chōchō have sleepovers with Shikadai and Inojin even giving them matching pajamas. At some point when Chōchō got a very high fever, both Chōji and Karui word to get her a special medicine for her. Because Chōji was too slimed down, Chōchō didn't recognise her father making Chōchō doubt her parentage. In the Naruto chapter 700, Chōji and Karui waited with Ino and Sai for their kids to show up for the 'Ino-Shika-Cho' formation practice, but none of them showed up.
Sarada Uchiha Arc[]
At the Lightning Burger cafe to celebrate the near graduation exams for their daughter's class. While there Chōchō began complaining about how different she was from her parents, Karui took it in stride.
The Last Day at the Ninja Academy![]
Chōji hosts a dinner to celebrate Chōchō and her classmates' graduation from the Academy. After the celebration Karui gossiped with Temari while they clean up.
Versus Momoshiki Arc[]
During the third round of the Chūnin Exams they watched their daughter as he fought against Shinki. During the fight they cheer her on from the stands, Chōji cheers her own while Karui sat beside him, she would ask him about Chōchō's abilities throughout the fight. When Chōchō is about to use a certain technique, Chōji reacts with surprise, prompting Karui to ask if she still has not perfected her bloodline technique. Chōji explains to her that Chōchō simply strongly dislikes using it. As the fight becomes more intense, Karui cheers with even more vigor than Chōji, surprising him. However, Shinki manages to defeat Chōchō using his Iron Sand. Chōji and Karui check on her as her teammates carry her out of the arena. Later they would learn about Boruto cheating during the exams, when the members of the Ōtsutsuki Clan started invading, Chōji and Karui would later evacuate the arena with the other spectors.
Chōchō Arc[]
During a training session, Chōji demonstrates some of their clan's secret techniques to Chōchō, but instead she was watching TV. Later, when Karui asked a question to Chōchō about this one's interest in soap operas. Chōchō shot back causing Chōchō and Karui what almost looked like to be cause for a fight. Chōji tried to break up the fight but the tense look they had made Chōji back off. Later after the mission Chōchō eats a meal with her father with Karui watching on.
Parent and Child Day[]
During the new holiday of Parent and Child Day, Karui was annoyed at Chōji lounging around on the couch, she comments in disgust as he gets potato chips everywhere and was even more furious when he ate the sweets that Karui bought for the family to share together for tomorrows breakfast. In anger Karui storms out of the house to buy the same snacks that he ate. While Karui was walking out, Chōji tries to ask if she could get more potato ships while she was out. This causes her to be even more furious and she kicked him out of the house to make him think about his actions. Outside the house Chōchō comments to her father that he might have made her so made that she would leave him, making Chōji fear what she said. Chōchō also insisted that her father might have some qualities that made her put out with him for so long. Chōji and Chōchō would enter a food competition to impress Karui as Chōji is a reigning champion in competitive eating. During the competition Karui watches them during the competition, Chōji calls Karui who was in the stands watching, Karui wonders on what he is doing. During the semi-final round, Chōji tried to keep a cool express after eating a spicy hamburger. After the round Karui confronted them to ask on what they were doing, Chōji tried to ask if she was impressed but to no avail and Karui left saying that they should try not to embarrass themselves. During the final round, Chōji would learn an important lesson from Chōchō about food being shared together as a family. Chōji would have a flashback to when Kauri was mad at him for eating the snacks and has and when she bought those snacks. Karui would shut some words of encouragement that made Chōji start eating making their team catch up with the other team. When the Ankorodō Shop Owner used the Ankorodō Hiden Ninjutsu: Mochi Release: Infinite Dumplings technique causing the dumplings to grow at an enormous size. Karui joined her family to fight against the giant dumplings. Chōji uses the Super Multi-Size Technique to save his family while eating the giant dumplings. While eating the dumplings Karui tried to plead Chōji on not to eat too much or his stomach would burst, Chōji while eating the giant dumplings, Karui was shocked when he at all of the giant dumplings. He apologizes for eating the snacks while shirking using Butterfly Mode, this made Karui chuckle and ask how much he could eat. After the competition, Chōji apologizes to Karui for making her mad. Later after the competition at the end of Parent and Child Day the family goes out and enjoys a meal together.
Ao Arc[]
Karui and Chōji attend the memorial service for the people of the Fourth Shinobi World War.
Children[]
Chōchō Akimichi
Chōchō is the daughter and only child of Chōji and Karui. Like her father, Chōchō never turns down a invitation when it comes to food. This will sometimes cause her to skip out on training with her fellow Ino–Shika–Chō members in favour of going to eat with her sensei, Anko Mitarashi. Also like her father she has a stark contras and is quick to rile when his weight was brought up, she was easily able to brush off being called fat. This will sometime bother her like her father did when he was young. Like her mother she is self-assured. She is able to use the Akimichi clan technique she learned from her father and is able to use the Lighting Release like her mother.
Fanon[]
ChouKaru was unexpected when Naruto chapter 700 came out. This shocked many fans when it was revealed. This ship is was very unpopular as the two didn't have a lot of interactions with each other before the ending of the series. This ship originally was a "crack pairing" but it seems to have quickly warmed up to the couple as the two characters did seem compatible with each other. ChouKaru now has more than 250 works on AO3. It rivals the ChoIno and KibaKarui pairings.
