Chrelen is the het ship between Chris and Helen from the Sonic the Hedgehog fandom.

Chris and Helen are very close friends in the first two seasons of the anime. Out all of Chris's human friends, Helen is the most trusted. In the second series, Chris and Helen appear to have become closer and they both excel at machinery, shown in episode 52 when six years after Sonic and his friends, along with Eggman and everything else from Sonic's world, returned to their world, Helen had taken up work to help Chris get the portal to Sonic's world working again to go visit him and his friends. Both also felt lonely due to the fact that their parents were working really hard and had little time for them. However, Helen's family was doing it to get by and she was able to restore her relationship with her parents much quicker than Chris was able to with his.

While Chris and Helen are depicted as close friends in Sonic X, their relationship is not explicitly romantic within the series. Despite this, a segment of the Sonic X fandom supports the relationship between Chris and Helen. This ship likely stems from their established friendship with Sonic and their contrasting personalities (Chris being more active and Helen being more observant and thoughtful).
While "Chrelen" exists as a ship within the Sonic X fandom, it's not as widely popular as some other pairings involving Sonic and his Mobian friends. Chris himself is a somewhat divisive character among fans, which may affect the overall popularity of ships involving him. However, Helen is generally well-liked, and some fans believe she would have been a more compelling human protagonist than Chris, potentially leading to more interest in her relationships.

- Both Chris and Helen develop a deep and meaningful friendship with Sonic. They admire his heroism and speed, and Sonic, in turn, values his loyalty and support.They are both also Sonic’s closest human friends in Sonic X. Furthermore, their first interaction with him took place at a water-related area (which is ironic, given the fact that Sonic himself dislikes water), includes the concept of saving and took place in the first episode of the first two sagas of Sonic X.
- Both Chris and Helen experience situations where their parents are busy and not always readily available. Chris's parents are often away due to their demanding careers (his mother is a famous actress, and his father is a CEO). Helen's father is shown working long hours at a grocery store to provide for her medical needs and their family. Both children, in their own ways, express a desire for more time and attention from their parents. Chris is explicitly shown to be lonely due to his parents' absence, even though they provide him with material possessions. While Helen is grateful for her parents' efforts, it's implied that she also misses spending more time with them, as seen in her wish for her father to take her to the island of flowers.
