Fire Emblem Awakening[]
Lucina's Timeline[]
Lucina was born to Chrom and his wife two years following the defeat Plegian king Gangrel. Chrom was noted to be a doting father to Lucina, teaching her swordplay and often times sharing small secrets with each other. Unfortunately, tragedy would strike when Chrom was killed by a possessed Robin - causing the resurrection of the Fell Dragon Grima. Lucina would take up her father's sword Falchion and spend the subsequent decade trying to fight back Grima and his army of Risen alongside the children of Chrom's allies in an ultimately losing war. In a desperate bid to stop Grima, Lucina and her closest allies contacted the Divine Dragon Naga to send them back in time in an attempt to stop the Fell Dragon's resurrection before it could begin. Obscuring her face with a mask, Lucina and her friends were sent back, though they were separated along the way.
Chrom's Timeline[]
Lucina emerges in a forest west of the kingdom of Ylisstol right when the Risen first emerged and attacked her father and her aunt Lissa, her first act being to save Lissa from an axe swing. While holding off that Risen, she asks Chrom for help, and the two manage to slay it together. Lucina quickly departs from them while Robin and Frederick arrive to help in defeating the rest of the Risen. After the battle, Lucina introduces herself as her ancestor "Marth" to Chrom before cryptically warning him and his group about the impending danger before departing. Frederick notes that they will be hearing "his" name again before the group moves on to Ylisstol.

Chrom would meet "Marth" again during the Khan Regent tournament being held in the neighboring kingdom of Regna Ferox, the latter having become the new champion for Western Khan Basilio. After Lissa notices "he" is one of the opponents, Chrom tries to ask "him" a question, only to realize a duel would be a better answer. Chrom is shocked to see "Marth" using a sword identical to his Falchion, but it doesn't deter him as he makes the first strike and starting the fight. As they continue, Chrom asks "Marth" who taught "him" to fight with a sword, only for "him" to answer that "his" father did so and refuses to elaborate who that father is. Chrom would ultimately win against "Marth" and win the tournament for Eastern Khan Flavia, with "Marth" leaving not long after.
"Marth" would once again reappear to Chrom in Ylisstol while he was talking with Robin. "He" tells him that the Exalt - Chrom's elder sister Emmeryn - was in danger of being assassinated that night. When Chrom expresses doubt, "Marth" claims to have foresaw the attempt and demonstrates by killing a hidden assassin nearby. However, a second assassin takes "Marth" by surprise and attacks, slicing off "his" mask and revealing them to be a woman before Chrom takes out the assassin. Chrom is surprised that "Marth" is a woman, which she's surprised he hadn't figured out until then, but they're interrupted by an explosion in the castle. After assessing the attacking force, Chrom orders "Marth" to guard Emmeryn while he and his forces take out the assassins. During the fight, "Marth" advises Chrom to not kill one of the intruders - a taguel named Panne - as she's an ally, with Chrom quipping that she's quite the prophet and defending her from Frederick's accusations by saying she's gained his trust.
"Marth" disappeared again shortly after Chrom and his forces defeated the head assassin Validar, causing the others to run. However, Chrom is able to find her on the castle grounds and stop her from leaving, noting that leaving unannounced was a bad habit of her's, which "Marth" admits to. Taking the chance, Chrom thanks "Marth" for saving the lives of both of his sisters and offers to reward her, but "Marth" says that hearing Chrom offering something is reward enough for her. She also reveals the future that would have happened had Emmeryn been killed, which Chrom believes and offers to repay her someday, something "Marth" considers.
Chrom and his forces are eventually drawn into war with the kingdom of Plegia and its king Gangrel, a war that they would ultimately win. In the two years of peace following the war, Chrom became Exalt of Ylisse, married, and had a daughter named Lucina. This peace is broken when the Regna Ferox would be attacked by the Kingdom of Valm. Chrom's wife decides to join him in subduing the invaders, but Chrom doesn't think that it's a good idea as he wants Lucina to grow up with both of her parents. Ultimately, however, Chrom relents and leaves Lucina in the company of her wet-nurses as he gathers his forces to assist Regna Ferox.

After beating back the Valmese forces, Chrom decides to enlist the help of Plegia to put an end to their conquest. After meeting the new king, however, Chrom's forces are ambushed by an army of Risen, which they are able to defeat. One Risen, however, sneaks up on Chrom and nearly kills him until "Marth" suddenly appears and slays it, accidentally screaming "Father" while doing so. When Chrom questions her about that, "Marth" asks to talk in private before having Chrom look at her face closely. Chrom does so and sees the Brand of the Exalt (the mark denoting those of the royal bloodline) in her left eye - just like Lucina. Chrom finally makes the connection that "Marth" is actually a future version of Lucina, which she tearfully confirms as she's pleased to finally reunite with her father after so long. After revealing this revelation to Chrom's wife, Lucina reveals why she came to the past as father and daughter vow to stop Grima's resurrection together.
Now together, Lucina assisted her father in stopping Valm's conquest of Ylisse, while also assisting in gathering the five gemstones required to power the Fire Emblem and give Chrom the power stop Grima. When attempting to get the final gemstone from Plegia, however, Robin is manipulated into handing the Fire Emblem - and the already collected gemstones - to Validar before he departs for the Dragon's Table to revive Grima. Robin being manipulated them confirms to Lucina that they're the one that killed Chrom in her time and confronts them about it with the intent to kill them. This is interrupted when Chrom arrives and reveals he overheard what Lucina revealed before asking that she trusts that he and Robin can stop that from happening. While unsure if she agrees with her father's assessment, Lucina agrees and prays that he's right.
After Chrom and Robin defeat Validar, Lucina is forced to witness Robin seemingly kill Chrom like in her time and finds herself despondent that seemingly nothing had changed. This changes when Chrom reveals that he's still alive - thanks to Robin weakening the magic they used - and takes the opportunity to finally defeat Validar alongside Robin and the the others. After Grima reawakens, Lucina joins her father at Mount Prism as he performs the Awakening to gain the power to beat him before helping in the final battle against the Fell Dragon. After the fight, Chrom would fully take up his position as Exalt while the older Lucina would disappear - but not before whispering to her infant self that she was going to have a better future than hers.
Fanon[]
Chromcina is one in the Fire Emblem fandom with a decent amount of support. While not the first time parent and child have both been lord characters in the series, Chrom and Lucina are the first pair to be able to fight alongside each other. That said, several fans see their relationship as being inspired by those earlier pairs, particularly Jugdral's Sigurd and Seliph. It's also more substantially popular than those other pairs, due to Awakening's international release and Chrom's and Lucina's later appearances in other media.
There's plenty of fanworks for this ship ever since Awakening first released. Much of this fanwork shows the two doing more bonding, particularly showing Lucina making up for being unable to bond with her version of Chrom. Some also take advantage of there technically being two Lucinas (the future one and the one from Chrom's time) and having Chrom interact with both at once.
