STRANGE NEW WORLDS
As Chapel runs through the halls trying to catch the escaped patient, he steps into an elevator where Uhura is. Uhura starts talking to him as Chapel runs back to the medbay to use the emergency transport. When Uhura and the patient step out onto the bridge, Chapel is transported there and knocks him out with a sedative. Uhura is a little confused but introduces herself to Chapel, who does the same.
CHILDREN OF THE COMET
Spock, Sam, La'an and Uhura are getting ready for the away mission, when Chapel tells them that the surface has radiation. She's going to inject them with a serum that will give them two hours of resistance before it wears off. She injects Uhura first, who flinches in pain. She says that Chapel could have told her that it was going to hurt, but Chapel says that then she would have known. People have run out on her before.

Chuhura is a common pairing in the Star Trek fandom, specifically in the Original Series fandom. It also has a small prevalent in the Alternate Original Series fandom, but not as much due to Chapel not appearing in the films. The ship started as a result of fans watching the original series, and noticing their smaller moments in the background of scenes. Including a moment where Uhura gives Chapel a kiss on the cheek, but comes off looking like a kiss on the lips. Most fans drawing from that moment for their relationship, and often using to point out that the two had potential to be a couple. That and Uhura's softness around Chapel and other women led to a good amount of shipping. Many then started to explore their relationship more in fics and fan art. Although the pair is typically in the background for other more popular Star Trek pairings in fics. That being said, it is still a Star Trek pairing with a long history, with the earliest known fan works of the two being published in the late 70's. The ship ends up being more of the token femslash ship of the TOS fandom, due to Chapel and Uhura being the only main female characters for the entire series (Janice Rand was out of the series about halfway through season 1).
Those that were aware of the pair but didn't ship it while watching the original series, saw potential in the pairing during the premiere of Strange New Worlds. Specifically how they're meeting felt like a fun meet cute. This along with the amount of female characters in the series, led many to joke that Pike was Captaining a ship full of lesbians. Many are hoping to see more of their friendship onscreen in the series, and that it will be more than just small background moments. Recent fan works have started to include the SNW characterizations of the two, including Uhura being a newer member of the crew and Chapel being less restrained in her actions than she was in the Original Series.
On AO3, Chuhura is the second most written ship for Christine and the third most written for Nyota. There are currently 320+ written works.
