Chulayra is the het ship between Chulainn and Ayra from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
Chulainn and Ayra are two playable characters in Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War. They are both descendants of the crusader Od and both inherit Minor Holy Blood from him. Ayra is the daughter of the King of Isaach, while Chulainn is a noble of the kingdom. They first met when they were very young, and Chulainn instantly fell in love with Ayra.
On the beginning of the game there is a war between the kingdoms of Grannvale and Isaach. Knowing that they will lose the war, Mariccle (Isaach's prince and Ayra's older brother) asks his sister to take his son Shannan and to go to Verdane where they will be safe (since Verdane isn't an ally of Grannvale). At Verdane, Ayra is forced to fight for Cimbaeth (Prince of Verdane) who holds Shannan hostage. Shannan is finally saved by Sigurd (a noble from Grannvale who didn't go to the war against Isaach) and Ayra joins his army. Meanwhile, Chulainn became a gladiator in Augustria, deciding to joins Sigurd's army after been defeated for the first time in the arena by a member of Sigurd's army (potentially Ayra). Ayra doesn't recognize Chulainn.
In Chapter 3 they have a conversation in which Chulainn gives a Brave Sword to Ayra. He says that one day he might not be here to watch her back and asks her to look after herself. If they reach enough love points together they will wed. If in Chapter 5, they are married together, they will have a special conversation. Ayra asks Chulainn if everything is alright. He reveals that he has known her since their childhoods, that he instantly fell for her, and that keeping her safe means everything to him. At the end of Chapter 5, Sigurd is betrayed and killed by Arvis. While most of his army died with him, Ayra and Chulainn's fates are unknown.
In the second generation, their two children are playable. Their daughter Larcei inherits her mother's inventory, while their son Scáthach inherits his father's.
Fanon[]
Some players choose to pair Ayra and Chulainn in-game for strategy purposes: Chulainn will be able to pass weapons to Scáthach, he will also give the skill Luna and good stats and to both Larcei and Scáthach. If he is their father, both Scáthach and Larcei will get major Od Holy Blood (otherwise they will only get minor Holy blood) which gives them the ability to use the powerful sword Balmung. Chularyra's shippers also like the idea of them being a battle couple and the fact that they have history with each other.
On Ayra's side, her main rival pairing is Lexay (Ayra x Lex). For strategic reasons some players prefer to pair Ayra with Lex, as he will pass down solid stats and the useful skills Vantage and Parangon. However, Scáthach can't use Lex's weapons.
On Chulainn's side, his main rival pairing is Chulainn x Brigid, who are mainly shipped for strategic purposes.
