Clorivia Overture Teaser

Clorinde shooting at Navia in the Overture Teaser.

In the “Overture Teaser: The Final Feast,” Clorinde can be seen shooting at Navia. After the release of Fontaine's Archon Quest, it is known that Navia and Clorinde are on difficult terms after Clorinde killed Navia's father, Callas, in a duel. Prior to their duel, Callas asked Clorinde to protect Navia, which she agreed to.

In the “Version 4.0 Special Program” livestream, Clorinde is introduced by the developers right after their introduction of Navia. Clorinde is described to have "a sort of complicated connection" with Navia.[1]

In the “Version 4.7 Special Program” livestream, during the segment of the trailer advertising Clorinde's story quest, Navia appears in a few cutscenes alongside Clorinde.[5] The two also appear together (like in one of the trailer's cutscenes) on the “Version 4.7 Preview” page.[6]

Clorinde Web Event - Clorinde macaron

Navia and Clorinde in Clorinde's Web Event.

In the “An Eventful Vacation” Web Event for Version 4.7, Clorinde has afternoon tea with Navia at Café Lutece. Navia has prepared Fonta, coffee, and macarons for Clorinde, who says, "Looks great. I won't say no to that, then." When eating a macaron, Clorinde's eyes sparkle. Afterwards, a reporter snaps a photo of the two of them and front pages it on the newspaper with a headline about Clorinde littering. Navia is outraged, calling it "simply lies and slanders!", and clears Clorinde's name, figuring out the truth to be another guest's pet dog leaving apple cores nearby instead. At the end of the Web Event, Navia has come together with Neuvillette and Charlotte to put an end to the journalists trying to defame Clorinde. She tells Clorinde that since she has the day off, she should do some vacation activities now.[7]

Sigewinne Demo - Clorinde stops Navia

Clorinde stops Navia from taking a teacup in Sigewinne’s Demo.

In Sigewinne's Character Demo, when Sigewinne offers them tea brewed from romaritime flowers, Clorinde stops Navia from taking a teacup until they see Lynette safely drink the tea. Reassured, they also drink the tea, only to be disgusted by its bitterness shortly afterwards.[8]

Emilie Demo - Navia and Clorinde

In Emilie's Character Demo, towards the end of the trailer, Navia and Clorinde can be seen walking side-by-side past Emilie, with Navia asking Clorinde if she wants to try the new perfume that's really popular.[9]

Fontaine Tour Group - Navia and Clorinde 2D intro

Navia and Clorinde at the start of the "Fontaine Tour Group" video.

In a Fontaine Recap video released about midway through Version 4.8, the two appear again together to help Charlotte give a tour of and history lessons about Fontaine.[10] The pair first show up at the 6:36 mark right when Charlotte is about to talk about the legend of Fontainian couples wishing at the Fountain of Lucine for children. Charlotte stops halfway through speaking and greets the pair upon seeing them. Clips of Coppelia and Coppelius are then shown back-and-forth with clips of Navia and Clorinde while they chat with Charlotte, who explains the situation to them. The two then take turns introducing different parts of Fontaine and the history associated with them while also conversing with one another. At one point, when Navia expresses uncertainty over how much historical knowledge she has about an area, Clorinde backs her up and encourages her to continue.

For Navia's birthday (August 16, 2024), Navia's chibi illustration shows her having a picnic and chatting with Clorinde about her recent adventures in Simulanka.[11] She tells Clorinde that she was the king there and says that if Clorinde came along, Clorinde would probably be a knight - to which Clorinde responds that she wouldn’t mind being her knight, protecting Navia as king.[12] The dialogue for their conversation is written out by Clorinde, including the chibi doodles of the two of them next to the words.[13] In Navia's birthday letter to the Traveler, she gives them Lumitoiles, which are Clorinde's ascension materials.[14]

Clorinde's birthday chibi art

For Clorinde's birthday (September 20, 2024), three of her birthday-related promotional materials mention Navia. In her birthday letter to the Traveler, Clorinde says how Navia had rushed over to tell her that she was going to host a tabletop game for Clorinde’s birthday. Navia had prepared many “challenges” for Clorinde and wanted Clorinde to enjoy the story as just a player this time. Clorinde notes how this was typical of Navia to do, and she was thus “persuaded” by Navia to let the latter host.[15]

In the description of Clorinde’s birthday art, Clorinde states how she can tell right away that the macarons brought to her were made by Navia. She also guesses out loud that Navia (along with the Traveler, who had given Clorinde a gift, too) is hiding in the corner, most likely to observe Clorinde’s reaction to the gifts.[16] In the additional chibi art for Clorinde’s birthday, Navia excitedly tells Clorinde to play Tabletop Troupe with her while the latter finishes her meal.[17]

Fontaine Archon Quests[]

Cutscene_Animation-_"At_the_Tempest's_Crux"_-_Genshin_Impact

Cutscene Animation- "At the Tempest's Crux" - Genshin Impact

During the Act II of the Fontaine story, it is shown that Clorinde watches over Navia, a promise to Navia’s father (Callas) that Clorinde made before his passing. She helps Navia fight off a horde of Clockwork Meka. Navia is grateful for the help, though there's tension in the air with Navia being annoyed at Clorinde's "stalking" and not appreciating when Clorinde brings up her father.

It is later revealed that the reason for this tension and their “complicated connection” (as described in an earlier livestream) is because three years earlier, Navia’s father had chosen to duel to the death after being framed for a murder instead of standing trial, with his dueling opponent being Clorinde. In the final trial of Act II, Navia calls on Clorinde to testify that Callas had not intended to leave the duel alive. Clorinde does so, and so by the end of Act II, Navia invites Clorinde out to a meal to thank her, reconciling with her and finally overcoming her resentment of Clorinde.

Later, in Act IV of Fontaine's Archon Quests, Clorinde comments on how her recent dinner with Navia was their "first time in a long time", implying that they used to have dinner together in the past. (This is later backed up in Version 4.3’s marketing for Navia, where they are revealed as childhood friends – see below.)

In Act V, Navia and Clorinde are shown to be very comfortable around one another. During the meeting at Poisson, Navia openly teases Clorinde for not having a very talkative job. Despite earlier stating that she would be leading the meeting, Navia has Clorinde lead the meeting instead for her to “[practice] public speaking.” Navia even has the group applaud for Clorinde.

Later, while Clorinde is discussing how to build traps, Navia also brings up how Clorinde used to like the small clockwork animals that Navia’s father once bought for Navia.

In the Finale of Act V, Clorinde goes to Poisson to help Navia rebuild the town. When asked about Clorinde’s presence by Paimon, Navia first jokes about how Clorinde is there to lie low from the sudden fame of challenging Furina to a duel, before admitting the real reason that Clorinde is there.

After Clorinde turns down being interviewed by Charlotte, Charlotte asks again, but this time “for Navia’s sake.” As Charlotte is a good friend of Navia’s, this suggests that Clorinde and Navia are also seen as close friends by those who know Navia. Navia steps in and asks for Charlotte to take a few more pictures of her and the Traveler rather than bother Clorinde.

When Navia invites Clorinde to tea, Clorinde immediately accepts and even requests for some shortbread. Navia jokes that it’s “like [they’ve] got a menu, or something,” and it is implied that Navia bakes them herself. Navia then comments on Clorinde’s new lipstick, and Clorinde offers the lipstick for Navia to try, commenting how “[she] think[s] the color would suit [Navia], too.”

Lantern Rite 2024[]

Lantern Rite 2024 (Clorivia) - Finding them on the mountain (p. 2)

Navia and Clorinde on a mountaintop during Lantern Rite 2024.

The two show up together again in Liyue for 2024’s Lantern Rite. In Version 4.4’s Lantern Rite World Quest “Hustle and Bustle,” Navia and Clorinde are encountered on a deserted mountain in Qiaoying Village after Navia is heard shouting random things from the mountaintop.

After Paimon quips how Navia has a loud voice, Clorinde says that she “suppose[s] it’s an asset” and how the words Navia had been shouting “are meaningless.” Navia grudgingly agrees, but then defends herself by saying “But the act of shouting was very meaningful indeed!”

Navia then explains why she had been shouting and how she thinks everyone does so at some point in their life, to which Clorinde disagrees and says how she goes hunting instead if she ever gets stressed. Navia gets thoughtful at this. Clorinde then adds that “what [she] chooses to hunt depends on [her] mood,” to which Navia clears her throat at before quickly changing the subject.

Clorinde then explains that the reason the two of them had gone up the mountain in the first place was because they had heard Furina shouting from there. Navia thought Furina was in trouble, but Clorinde clarifies that Furina was just stressed about her script. At this, Navia is flabbergasted as to why Clorinde didn’t mention that before they’d climbed up the mountain, too.

Navia then comments that Neuvillette was also in Liyue earlier to probably buy some tea, and that she thinks Clorinde is here in Liyue for the same reason, too. Clorinde gets indignant at this, and says that she’s instead “here because [she] was asked to accompany [Navia].”

When the Traveler and Paimon plan to return to the village, Clorinde says how since she and Navia had just gotten up the mountain, they’ll instead stay around for a little longer before heading back down.

When interacted with again after the scene ends, Navia asks Clorinde what she has to do to get the other woman to yell from the mountaintop, to which Clorinde is amused, asking back, “You really want to hear it that bad, huh?” Navia replies that she’s just curious, and that she has a feeling that Clorinde would shout something amazing. Nonetheless, Clorinde passes on shouting, saying that she instead “prefer[s] to let actions speak louder than words” while turning to face Navia.

Later, the two of them meet up with the Traveler and Paimon again in Qiaoying Village. When Hu Tao expresses interest in Clorinde’s profession, Navia (and Furina) have to quickly better explain the role of champion duelist to dispel some of Hu Tao’s more misguided ideas. Afterwards, Clorinde offers for her and Navia to escort Furina back to Fontaine before it gets too dark outside - which Furina agrees to after being scared by Hu Tao.

When talking about souvenirs, Navia notes how Clorinde didn’t buy anything for herself as she isn’t much of a shopaholic. At this, Clorinde quips how, “Well, one of us has to practice restraint.” Navia laughs with a response back that she’s “hardly reckless with [her] Mora” and how everything she bought today had been well within her budget. When asked where everything the two of them bought is, Clorinde explains how Neuvillette had offered to bring them back to Fontaine for them, to which Navia adds that "even Clorinde was happy to take him up on his offer."

Before heading back to Fontaine, Navia reminds her travel companions to ensure they have all their belongings with them and to buy any last minute souvenirs if they want any. Clorinde replies with, “Reliable as ever, Miss President.” Navia is displeased with this, and when Furina doesn’t understand why, Navia clarifies, “It's not what she's saying, it's the way she's saying it!” This results in Furina making note of how Clorinde seems a lot more easygoing than she usually is while at work.

Clorinde's Story Quest[]

Navia has the 2nd most amount of voiced dialogue (following Clorinde herself) and plays a prominent role alongside the eponymous character in Clorinde’s Story Quest.

Part 1, "Judgment Day"[]

Clorinde’s SQ - Facepalming in sync

Navia and Clorinde facepalming in sync at the start of the quest.

The quest begins with both Clorinde and Navia in the Court of Fontaine agonizing over a problem. In sync, the two of them facepalm over their dilemma. The Traveler and Paimon approach them, thinking they are in trouble - and Clorinde points at them with her eyes to Navia, signaling to Navia that the Traveler and Paimon can solve their problem. Navia picks up on Clorinde’s gesture, and the two of them convince the Traveler and Paimon to join in on their tabletop game, their problem being that they had been missing one more player!

Navia explains how both she and Clorinde are veteran members of a tabletop roleplaying game club, and that they are testing a new game script by the club. Clorinde will be the Game Master and she praises the script, to which Navia quickly butts in, not wanting any spoilers. After the Traveler and Paimon agree to join in on the game, Navia excitedly makes to leave to go get the script manager. Clorinde tells her to watch her step and not to rush, to which Navia laughs at, saying how Clorinde is saying that like she's still a child. Navia thinks out loud about what type of character she’d like to play as this time, and Clorinde exasperatedly responds with, hopefully one with useful skills selected this time. She also tells Navia to stop trying to "persuade" every animal she comes across in the game.

Part 2, Hunters' Gathering[]

Clorivia - Tabletop Troupe outfits

Clorinde and Navia’s “Tabletop Troupe” outfits.

Clorinde and Navia explain how the game works to the Traveler, Paimon, and Furina (who are all new players), while Lyney offers suggestions. After picking two initial skills per character, Navia suggests for everyone to pick an “out of the box” skill for their final skill. Clorinde internally thinks in trepidation that she gets the feeling that Navia is getting ready to cause trouble, and then Navia suggests for everyone to pick the “Summon” skill, saying that there’s no need for the players to worry about how it works - the GM (Clorinde) will take care of that! At this, Clorinde groans.

Clorinde then offers the Traveler the choice of playing on “easy mode” or “authentic mode.” Regardless of what is chosen, Navia pipes up about how she thinks Clorinde would not make the game too difficult, no matter how the RNG plays out, to which Clorinde says, “No promises.”

Clorinde's SQ - Clorinde breaks character p1

Navia makes Clorinde break character.

As the game begins, Clorinde pops up behind Navia, then the other characters, while narrating the story’s set up. Clorinde then roleplays as a “Melancholic Young Woman” NPC that the players approach for information. Navia asks this “NPC” about the lovely weather, then asks about what she had for breakfast, which confuses Clorinde, who lets out a, “...Huh?” Navia continues on, saying how she can bake the “NPC” some macarons to cheer her up, while Furina silently judges Navia for not staying in-character. Clorinde, still roleplaying as the “NPC,” tries to steer the game back on course by saying how Navia doesn’t look like a chef and how she herself isn’t a fan of sweets anyway. Navia cheekily responds with how this “NPC” reminds her of a friend of hers, who also doesn’t smile much and doesn’t like sweets. Clorinde breaks character at this, scoffing at the remark, to which Navia expresses surprise at. The group figures out what the situation with this “NPC” is, and then Navia gives her some farewell words about how while people don’t always get to choose what happens to them, they can choose how they respond to them - including eating a delicious dessert to cheer oneself up!

Clorinde then roleplays as a different “NPC,” known as a “Gruff Merchant.” If Navia is selected to “persuade” the “NPC,” then she manages to convince the “Gruff Merchant” to tell them where the monsters are. She’ll then tell the “Merchant” to smile a bit more to make the “NPC”’s life “a little bit sweeter!” as her closing words.

After talking to an “Anxious Man” (also roleplayed by Clorinde), the group decides to take a break. Clorinde offers to delve into the history of Fontaine’s real-life Marechaussee Hunters in the meantime, to which Navia recalls Clorinde having done so before in bits and pieces and all in passing. As Clorinde talks about the Hunters’ history, Navia is once again alert to the possibility of story spoilers from what Clorinde is saying, telling Clorinde to change the topic when she starts talking about the ancient sorcerers of Remuria.

When Clorinde explains how she learned all this history from her master, Navia immediately figures out that she means “Ms. Petronilla,” who was a good friend of Navia’s father, Callas. Navia starts reminiscing on the past, saying how Petronilla would often bring Clorinde over to play with Navia, but then Clorinde interrupts her, telling Navia to not get off topic.

The group returns to the game, and the Traveler gets asked whether they think the monsters or the sorcerer should be dealt with first. If the sorcerer is chosen, Navia “persuades” the Traveler to choose monsters instead, stating Clorinde being GM as a reason they shouldn’t confront the sorcerer yet (Clorinde might make the whole party die for jumping the gun so early).

Clorinde then roleplays as an injured “Guard Captain.” If Navia is selected to approach the “Guard Captain,” then she appeals to the “Guard Captain”’s concern for his comrades and convinces him to tell the group where the monsters are located. The group then goes and defeats the monsters, and Navia (stating that she’s still got her right glove on, so it should be fine for her to touch random things) finds a treasure chest.

Clorinde notes how late it’s gotten and decides to end the game there for the day. Navia wants to continue playing through the night, but Furina and Lyney don’t and Clorinde informs her that the group has to change venues for the story’s next part anyway. Paimon asks for Clorinde to talk about her master, but Navia hesitatingly objects to this, which the Traveler immediately picks up to mean that Clorinde’s past with her master doesn’t have a happy ending. Clorinde thanks them for the concern and talks about her past anyway.

When Clorinde gets to the part about meeting Mr. Callas and his family for the first time, Navia joins in, sharing how she still remembers the first time she’d met Clorinde - Clorinde had been too scared to join their picnic and hid behind her master the whole time. Clorinde explains how it’d been because she hadn’t met many children her age back then and thus didn’t know how to interact with her. Navia then goes on about how afterwards, though, Clorinde started coming over a lot and especially loved challenging Spina members to shooting competitions, beating many of them at it. The two continue going back-and-forth about their childhood, exploring the Spina together, and how they both had a lot of fun back then. They then bring up overhearing Navia’s father refer to Clorinde’s master as Fontaine’s “Protector of Justice” one time, and Furina figures out that Clorinde’s master used to be a nighttime vigilante hero who was active in Fontaine about twenty years ago.

Unfortunately, Clorinde’s backstory then dips into gloom. Navia goes quiet, knowing what Clorinde is going to say next. The night Clorinde turned ten years old, her master suddenly disappeared. To this day, Clorinde has no idea where her master went. That night, Clorinde had been celebrating her birthday at Navia’s house, but her master never came to pick her up. She would return to an empty house, and after a few days of her master still being gone, Clorinde went to Mr. Callas to ask. Navia explains how her father most likely didn’t know either, despite even sending a few people to investigate the matter in secret. Paimon attempts to cheer Clorinde up by comparing her to her master, but Clorinde suspects she’s much more “by-the-books” than Petronilla ever was. The mood drops as Clorinde and Navia stand awkwardly, looking at each other, thinking about if the duel against Navia’s father would’ve gone differently had Clorinde’s master been the Champion Duelist instead back then.

After a moment of awkward silence, Navia changes the topic, stating the time - it’s getting dark! She tries to bring the mood back up, telling Clorinde how her childhood stories were even better than the game’s script and how Clorinde should tell them all more about her fight against the Geovishap some time. Navia cheekily says, “Maybe your master was onto something, hehe!” which absolutely baffles Furina.

After everyone else leaves, Navia and Clorinde stay behind chatting with one another. Navia has dropped her cheerful tone from earlier and asks Clorinde to tell her more about what it was like to be the Geovishap’s pet, now that it’s just the two of them. Navia asks in concern if getting headbutted by the Geovishap had hurt for Clorinde, but Clorinde doesn’t get why she’s asking and responds amusedly, that of course it had hurt - did Navia want to experience it for herself? Navia refuses in alarm.

Part 3, Buried Honor[]

Clorinde's SQ - Clorinde's short sword

The short sword that Clorinde gave to Navia following Clorinde’s duel with Navia’s father.

The next day, the group meets up at a new venue to continue their game and start chatting about their surroundings - except for Navia, who remains quiet the whole time until prompted to speak. There’s a short sword on the table in front of Navia, and when asked about it, Navia explains how it’s the sword that Clorinde had mentioned the previous night - the one that she’d been given as her first toy. Clorinde expresses surprise that Navia had managed to find it, and Navia says that she’d made sure to take good care of it and keep it safe, given the circumstances that Clorinde had given it to her (Navia hesitates while vaguely saying “circumstances”). Navia then changes the topic, explaining how she’d actually been keeping quiet because she was contemplating in which ways they could break out of prison, which puzzles Furina since they aren’t in prison (yet).

The game continues, and the group gets approached by guards and taken to meet the king as distinguished guests. Navia is prepared for violence the entire time, stating how they’ll just “turn the whole place upside down” if anything happens, even though nothing bad has happened yet. Once in the palace, Navia observes the number of guards in the hall, however, and realizes she can’t do that. The group gets thrown in jail, just like Navia predicted earlier. Navia tries to draw her weapon, but Clorinde (as Game Master) informs her that all their weapons had been confiscated.

In response, Navia asks about the knife she had hid in her boot, to which a bewildered Clorinde asks her when she had done that. Navia replies that she’d done that back when she was thinking about how to escape prison, and Clorinde rejects this course of action, stating how Navia hadn’t told her about this, so it wasn’t valid.

This part in the game’s story ends there, and even Clorinde doesn’t know how to proceed to the next part of the story. With nothing else to do in the meantime, Furina decides to bring up how she’d examined Navia’s short sword earlier and noticed that the craftsmanship is of a style from several hundred years ago. The sword is deduced to have been an heirloom passed down over time to Clorinde’s master and eventually to Clorinde herself. Navia expresses shock at this, and especially at Clorinde giving it to her then. She asks Clorinde if she wasn’t worried that Navia would lose the sword.

Clorinde haltingly explains how she’d given the sword to Navia back then because she hadn’t wanted their friendship to end. Navia makes a pained sound at this, and after Clorinde explains that this had happened after she had dueled Navia’s father, everyone else at the table groans at this. Navia then speaks up, sharing how before the duel, Clorinde would often have meals with her and her father and even stay over at the Spina some days. Clorinde had even been on great terms with Navia’s father, too. After the duel, however, both Navia and Clorinde didn’t know how to face each other. Clorinde then entrusted the short sword to Navia and never came back. Clorinde looks down sadly at the table after Navia says this.

Navia continues on about how they’d both been sad and conflicted back then, and how whenever she looked at the sword sword, Navia couldn’t help but to wonder if part of this sadness she was feeling could’ve been avoided if Clorinde’s master had never introduced the two of them to each other in the first place. Back then, Navia felt like she hadn’t just lost a father, but a close friend as well.

Lyney tries to cheer them up, saying how no one can change the past, but that the two of them found their way back to each other - which is the most important thing. Navia agrees, and after Furina apologizes for bringing up sad memories for the two of them, Navia tells her that there’s no need - no one here was at fault for what happened back then. Clorinde gives Navia a soft look at this.

At that moment, the next script arrives and the game continues. A mysterious “Guard” appears and frees the group from prison. They head to the next location and come across a large rock, which Navia blows up with Clorinde’s permission. They enter a cave, and Clorinde grows thoughtful upon seeing a stone door with a pattern on it. Navia picks up on something going amiss and asks Clorinde if something is wrong, which Clorinde doesn’t reply to, instead continuing to narrate the game. The group solves the puzzle before the door and collects three keys. Clorinde realizes she has the fourth and final key, but her thoughts get interrupted by the sound of footsteps. Sensing Clorinde’s alarmed state, Navia again asks her what’s wrong, but Clorinde instead pretends like this is all part of the game and tells the group to close their eyes.

Navia plays along and roleplays fighting the intruder in the dark. In reality, Clorinde is the one fighting the “Guard” who is actually a Marachaussee Hunter named Florian trying to trick Clorinde into giving up her key. Navia shouts that she’d like to roleplay hitting the intruder with her sword, and Clorinde responds that her strike was successful, while actually defeating the “Guard.”

After Florian is subdued, Clorinde decides to continue the “game” (which has turned out to not actually be a real game to begin with) and opens the stone door. Behind the door reveals a giant stone slab and many old weapons. Navia immediately understands what the real Marechaussee Hunter "treasure" was all along, while Clorinde takes a mentally distraught Florian away to have a private talk with him elsewhere. Left on their own without their Game Master for a while, the group explore their surroundings, with Navia noting the names on the tablet.

When Clorinde returns with Florian, Navia says out loud what Florian was a bit slow to realize - the true “treasure” all along was the names of all the Marechaussee Hunters from ages past and their weapons. Navia deduces that the stone tablet must’ve been left behind by the Hunters for each other. After Florian explains that the “sorcerer” was afraid of this “treasure,” Navia figures out that maybe something about the weapons is important and asks Clorinde for permission to “investigate” them. Clorinde approves and explains how the weapons seem to be emanating faint energy from within them, suggesting that everyone in the group should take one of these weapons with them before they head out to defeat the “sorcerer.” Navia grows thoughtful at this and doesn’t select any weapon, however, while everyone else does so.

Part 4, Vanquishing Phantoms[]

Clorinde’s SQ - Navia’s summon (Final Cutscene) p2

Navia’s “summon” in the final cutscene.

The group arrives at the basement of Florian’s house and a cutscene plays. At first, none of their attacks do any damage on the Devorator (which looks like a Golem). But then, Clorinde reminds them of the Marachaussee Hunters’ weapons they’d brought along with them. Navia immediately exclaims in response that it’s the Hunters’ names that they need to use, and Lyney clarifies to Paimon that every player still has a “Summon” skill that they haven’t used yet.

Lyney, Furina, and the Traveler “summon” past Hunters using the weapons they’d brought with them from the cave, but then the camera pans to Navia and she instead takes out the short sword that Clorinde had given to her. Navia says Clorinde’s master’s name as the short sword starts glowing, and Clorinde looks at her in surprise. Continuing on, Navia calls on the “Protector of Justice and Order” as the Hunter she respects the most and thanks her for saving her best friend. Navia looks at Clorinde then, smiling and nodding at her as she asks the long-gone Hunter (and Clorinde, in her stead) to lend them her strength. Clorinde is still looking in shock, but then nods affirmatively in response, turning her attention to the Devorator and then defeating it.

The game ends there, and after Furina leaves, Navia asks Clorinde if she can finally ask what in the world had actually been going on this entire time. Clorinde is slightly chagrined at that, realizing that Navia had seen through everything, which Lyney admits he’d known all along, too. Navia admits she had been dying of curiosity since figuring out that something was off back in the cave, but she praises Clorinde for doing a good job at hiding it, since Furina remains oblivious to it all.

Clorinde explains the truth of the whole situation, then. She states that she had everything under control, and Navia quips how she doubts Clorinde would ever describe a situation as being “out of control” and how easy situations to Clorinde would most likely scare a reasonable person half to death.

Once outside the house, Clorinde explains that the Hunters’ weapons were actually enchanted, which is how they were able to suppress the Devorator. She gives a brief pause in hesitation, then softly addresses Navia, trailing off in her question asking about what Navia had said during her “summon.” Navia startles at this and gets bashful, stumbling through her words while trying to explain how she’d meant what she said and she’s happy Clorinde heard her words, but to not ask her to repeat herself.

Clorinde briefly and warmly smiles at this while sincerely telling Navia that she’d really appreciated her words. Navia grows increasingly embarrassed at this. Still flustered, she tells Clorinde to not “get all sentimental” on her and then shuts the conversation down, saying that she’s leaving now and to not fall too far behind her, before running off.

Other Appearances[]

Navia and Clorinde both appear in Neuvillette's Story Quest to help resolve and protect the threatened Melusine. They both agree that they got involved voluntarily when Neuvillette later apologizes to them for getting them involved. At the end of the quest, Navia and Clorinde are seen together, conversing with Charlotte about the quest’s recent events. They appear to be on good terms.

At the beginning of Version 5.0’s Archon Quest, Navia and Clorinde (along with Charlotte and Furina) briefly appear to say goodbye to the Traveler and Paimon before the duo head off to Natlan.

Summer Event 2024[]

Summer Event 4.8 (Clorivia) - Clorinde as Navia’s bodyguard

Clorinde appointing herself as "King" Navia's personal bodyguard.

After returning to Fontaine from Simulanka, Navia can be found at a table outside the Chioriya Boutique sharing about her recent adventures with Clorinde and Chiori. Clorinde notes how she hasn't seen Navia in a while, so despite Chiori's suspicions, what Navia is saying can't be because she's been playing too much Tabletop Troupe recently. Since Navia has invited the two back to her "kingdom" with her, Clorinde then suggests being "Her Majesty's personal bodyguard." After Navia mentions wanting to bring a music box back with her too to see if one of the music box's dancing figures will come to life, Clorinde grows wary and, although still playing along in a roleplay tone, tells Navia to immediately inform her if such a thing actually happens (since that'd be bad news in the real world).

Reel Ad-Venture 2025[]

The two appear along with Lynette, Lyney, and Furina to shoot an advertisement for the Tabletop Troupe. In the ad, Clorinde is a Game Master who proposes a scenario of treasure being guarded by first a merchant, then a Sternshield Crab, and finally a Cryo Regisvine. With each encounter, Navia cheerfully asks if she can use “Persuasion” on it. When questioned if she can even persuade plants during the final encounter with the Cryo Regisvine, Navia happily shows that she has a “Speak with Plants” ability and then rolls a perfect Nat 20. Clorinde reluctantly allows the action to pass and Navia claims the treasure.

Voicelines & Character Stories[]

According to Navia’s Character Story 3, she and Clorinde met when they were about 10 years old. They would train together, during which, Clorinde would praise Navia’s sharpshooting skills despite the two’s very different ways of shooting. Navia is noted to have become quite used to Clorinde’s mannerisms and recognizes when Clorinde is giving genuine praise.

In Navia’s Vision story, during her birthday party many years ago, Navia played the star character while Clorinde played a doctor during a campaign of a tabletop game. Just when it seemed like they were about to lose the game, Navia ordered Clorinde’s character to shoot at her character. Clorinde’s character misses her shot and hits the demon’s weak spot instead, thus winning them the game.

In Navia’s voiceline about Clorinde, Navia states how she can tell how deeply Clorinde feels despite visually not showing much emotion or saying very much. Additionally, despite the situation caused by her father’s death, Navia didn’t like how cautious Clorinde ended up being around her because of it. She is happy that they’ve now reconciled.

In Clorinde’s Character Story 4, Navia brings Clorinde to a “Tabletop Troupe” club, introducing Clorinde to the boss as an experienced player. The club’s members quickly discover that Clorinde is like a master at the tabletop game already, and Clorinde smiles to herself, thinking how it’s because she used to be the Game Master for Navia’s scripts when they were younger - which Clorinde thinks were full of “endless… weird and wonderful ideas.” After a while being a regular player, Clorinde decides to become a Game Master again to save the club’s previous Game Masters from Navia’s imagination. It works out very successfully, to the club’s members and Navia’s delight.

In Clorinde’s Character Story 5, while finishing up her coffee for the evening, Clorinde thinks about how on her day off the next day, she’ll buy some flowers and fruit early in the morning, and then meet up with Navia in the afternoon to play their favorite tabletop game at the Tabletop Troupe.

In Clorinde’s Marechaussee Hunter's Legacy story, Navia's father is briefly mentioned as someone who “always seemed to know everything” when a 10-year-old Clorinde goes looking for her missing mentor. Since, according to Navia’s character story, the two first met when Navia was about 10, then the two are confirmed to be about the same age.

In Clorinde’s voiceline about Navia, Clorinde comments about how Navia has been in a good mood lately and frequently invites Clorinde to play their favorite tabletop game together at the Tabletop Troupe. When not playing the Game Master in these games, Clorinde often joins Navia as a fellow adventurer. Out of consideration for Navia and to avoid turning the atmosphere too serious, however, Clorinde avoids playing any Court of Fontaine characters. In the English audio version of this voiceline, Clorinde sounds particularly happy while talking about Navia.

When interacting with Clorinde in the Serenitea Pot, if the Traveler asks Clorinde for a story from before she became a Champion Duelist, then Clorinde starts her answer with, “Well, before I met Navia…” After the Traveler expresses surprise at Clorinde going so far back in time, Clorinde responds that she’s starting there because before she met Navia was also before she became a Champion Duelist. This dialogue chain is only unlocked when Clorinde’s Friendship Level 4 is reached.

Fanon[]

Pre-4.0[]

Clorivia is a ship dating back to before Fontaine's Archon Quest was released. Prior to the release of 4.0, it was believed that Navia and Clorinde had some sort of rivalry because of a scene in the "Overture Teaser: The Final Feast" in which Clorinde shoots at Navia. Back when the two characters were only known through leaks, there had been some interest in the relationship between Navia and Clorinde (also known as “Captain R”). This was due to people finding their designs appealing together, and information that the two hate each other.[20]

The ship had a large increase in popularity after the release of the “Overture Teaser: The Final Feast.” The scene of Clorinde shooting at Navia had many see the potential in an enemies/rivals-to-lovers dynamic. Navia also appeared to have a mischievous personality. Which made the ship more appealing, as it was a good contrast to Clorinde’s stoic personality. Fans speculated that Navia as some sort of wealthy rebel or outlaw, while Clorinde as someone in law enforcement trying to catch her. Many fan arts have Navia teasing Clorinde.

Version 4.0[]

After the release of Version 4.0, the interpretation of an "opposites attract" dynamic changed with the new information about Navia and Clorinde's relationship. Portrayals of Navia originally had her be the more flirty one, though after 4.0 this changed to reflect Navia's more complicated feelings about Clorinde. Meanwhile initial portrayals with Clorinde had her be the one less willing to accept Navia's feelings, but more recent works portray her to have a silent yearning for Navia.

However, after the 4.0 Archon quests revealed that Clorinde had been Callas's opponent in the duel to his death, the ship also became controversial. While fans of the ship eagerly welcomed this unexpected reality (as explained in the paragraph above), others thought the situation actually made the ship impossible. The ship has thus grown in both popularity and disfavor within the Genshin Impact shipping fandom.

Version 4.2 and 4.3[]

After the reveal through Navia's drip marketing that the two were childhood friends, the ship gained a lot of popularity again due to the childhood friends-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers potential. Their increased (and friendly) interactions in 4.2 also contributed to their increased popularity. In 4.3, Navia's released character stories - especially her especially lengthy Vision story - about their childhood together further fueled shippers, with many fan works and fanfics being produced based on their childhood playing D&D together and their final Archon Quest interaction (involving sharing lipstick) in Act V.

Version 4.4[]

Clorivia’s “angst phase” has been concluded to be over by fans following their appearance in Version 4.4's Lantern Rite. They are portrayed as close friends again, as seen with their playful banter with one another throughout the world quest. Most notably, Clorinde is observed by other characters to be a lot more easygoing while outside of work, and teases Navia quite often – a huge contrast to how cautious Clorinde initially was around Navia in Version 4.0.

Much like the “lipstick dialogue” from Version 4.2, some of their Lantern Rite interactions have become popular among fans, particularly when Clorinde talks about hunting (which has become known as the “hunting metaphor”) and when she says, “one of us has to practice restraint.” Many fanart and fanfictions have been created based on these two specific pieces of dialogue. Fans have also taken a liking to “Miss President” as a teasing nickname that Clorinde has for Navia.

Version 4.7[]

Fans were very excited upon seeing Navia appear alongside Clorinde during the latter's story quest trailer segment in the “Version 4.7 Special Program” livestream, especially with the trailer suggesting that they were acting out a script, similar to the tabletop game the two used to play together in their childhood. Fans got further excited upon the reveal of the "Version 4.7 Preview" page, revealing the first official artwork of Clorinde and Navia together.

Fans were thrilled when Navia showed up yet again in Clorinde’s Web Event, to have afternoon tea together on Clorinde’s day off. Just like when she appeared in the Lantern Rite event, it is clear that whenever Clorinde gets vacation time, she enjoys spending it with Navia. Fans also caught onto how, unlike her usual unemotional demeanor, Clorinde’s eyes sparkled whenever she ate one of Navia’s macarons - which she eats even if the “macaron” option is not selected in the Web Event.

After Clorinde’s Character Demo was released and showed a shot of her jumping before the moon, many fans immediately referred to Clorinde as the moon and Navia as the sun.[21] With their complementary color schemes, their official in-game titles of “Candlebearer, Shadowhunter” and “Helm of the Radiant Rose”, and their “opposite” personalities, Clorivia was quickly perceived to have a sun/moon ship dynamic.

When Navia was revealed to have the 2nd most amount of voiced dialogue (surpassing even Paimon) in Clorinde’s Story Quest, fans rejoiced at the possibility of Navia having a significant role in the story. This was revealed to be true, as Navia helped provide a lot of information about Clorinde’s backstory and would have fun back-and-forth conversations with Clorinde herself throughout the quest. Their long-lasting friendship was brought up repeatedly, and they finally completely reconciled with one another regarding Clorinde’s duel with Navia’s father, with Navia affirming at the end that Clorinde is and will always be her best friend. Clorinde’s divulgence that she’d given Navia an heirloom sword years ago as a sign of her wish to not end their friendship, the final cutscene where Navia brought out Clorinde’s short sword and “summoned” Clorinde to the final battle, and Navia’s subsequent embarrassment when asked about it later by Clorinde were all lauded as a series of “confession” scenes.

Fans also think that Navia was trying to talk to Clorinde directly while saying out of pocket things and giving seemingly random advice during the tabletop game, which caused Clorinde to break character on at least one occasion. Fans were also delighted that throughout the quest, Navia was also shown to be very perceptive of Clorinde’s emotions (which is consistent with Navia’s voiceline about Clorinde). While Navia would tease Clorinde before and during the tabletop game, she would also pick up whenever Clorinde’s mannerisms slightly shifted. These instances include when the group was discussing Clorinde’s past with her master and when the group first entered the cave - Navia immediately sensed that there was something wrong with the situation they were in based on Clorinde’s emotives and played along with Clorinde until the end of the quest.

A popular fan interpretation of the final cutscene is that while “summoning” Clorinde’s master (and in actuality, Clorinde in her master’s place), Navia is giving the short sword new meaning. Before, looking at the sword had made Navia sad and wondering if she’d be happier never knowing Clorinde, but by now thanking Clorinde’s master for saving Clorinde while taking the sword out, Navia is asserting to having no regrets to having met Clorinde.

Afterwards, fans were resolved to not see Navia and/or Clorinde again until a future limited event, but were instead delightfully surprised when the two appeared and actively participated in Sigewinne's Character Demo. Fans immediately honed in on Clorinde's protectiveness - how Clorinde touched Navia's hand to stop her from taking a teacup and used just her eyes to communicate for them to first watch Lynette take a sip of Sigewinne's tea. Fans also observed how Clorinde watched for Navia's reaction afterwards and even gave a small smile before taking a sip of the tea herself. More broadly, fans also noted how the majority of Clorinde's smiles were when Navia was with her, usually directed at the latter.

Version 4.8[]

Fans were once again pleasantly surprised at the end of Version 4.8's Summer Event upon finding out that after the main quests concluded, Navia immediately went to share about her recent adventures in Simulanka with Clorinde. They sit closely next to each other at the table outside Chioriya Boutique (while Chiori sits at the far other side) and have only a single cup in front of them, which fans have joked that they are sharing. During this post-quest dialogue, Clorinde doesn't think Navia's story is because of too much Tabletop Troupe due to not seeing Navia in a while, implying that the two always play Tabletop Troupe together.

Then, when deciding on royal titles, Clorinde suggests being "King" Navia's personal bodyguard - which fans were extremely happy about, as this is a popular trope among fans for "Royalty AU"'s about the pairing. Eagle-eyed fans also noticed how in the Chinese version of this dialogue, Clorinde uses a phrase a bit more familiar than just "personal" (a phrase that implies that she'd follow Navia around very closely).[22] Fans were also happy to add "Your Majesty" as another one of Clorinde's nicknames for Navia, alongside "Miss President."

Not long after, fans were ecstatic to see Clorivia again in Emilie's Demo, quickly latching onto how the two were casually hanging out together yet again and discussing cosmetics with one another again (perfume instead of lipstick this time).

Then, with the release of “The Shimmering Voyage, Vol. 4” OST album, fans were elated after finding out that the music track that played during their first cutscene together (“At the Tempest’s Crux” cutscene) was titled in reference to the two of them - quickly catching onto how “Rosula" and "Candela” refers to Navia and Clorinde respectively. Fans were also quick to point out that a “pas de deux” as also referenced in the music track’s title refers to a ballet duet, typically a romantic one.

Shortly after that, fans were joyously surprised yet again when a promo picture for a Fontaine Recap video featuring the two (and Charlotte) was released, showing Navia and Clorinde in close proximity to one another and Clorinde about to eat a yellow-colored macaron. Fans joked that it was a Navia-colored macaron, since the other 2 macarons on the plate were purple (Clorinde) and red (Charlotte), the only other characters present in the image. Fans also pointed out how despite not liking sweets, Clorinde was clearly enjoying the macarons made by Navia.

In the actual video, Navia and Clorinde speak for about 10 minutes total. Fans immediately caught onto how Clorinde was once again hanging out with Navia on her day off just like in their previous appearances together. To fans, this indicates how now that the two have fully reconciled, Clorinde almost always spends her free time with Navia. Then, while giving their tour around Fontaine, Clorinde was noted to be very supportive of Navia, jumping in to fill in for her whenever Navia forgot a piece of history - which fans thought was very cute.

Post-Version 5.0[]

With Fontaine’s story arc officially over, fans no longer expect to see Navia or Clorinde appear again outside of limited time events, which may come once or twice a year. Fans still expect them to appear together or at least mention each other if they do, however. When they do, such as at the start of the Version 5.0 Archon Quest and in the Reel Ad-Venture limited time event, fans continue to eat up their interactions. Fans also still expect the two to appear together or at least mention each other in random ads (such as with the Luckin Coffee collaboration) and in HoYoFair.

All dates mentioned are based on the Los Angeles time zone (where the English VAs reside).

On November 6, 2023, the English VAs of Clorivia (Brenna Larsen and Crystal Lee) tagged the #Clorivia fandom in their Tweets about a Clorivia print that they had commissioned and were doing live signings of. Fans were very happy to see the ship publicly supported by the VAs.[23][24] When asked about the "lipstick dialogue," they burst into giggles. The livestream can be viewed here.

On June 11, 2024, Clorinde's VA guest featured on a livestream pulling session hosted by Miley Yamamoto and pulled C6R5 Clorinde with the help of Genesis Crystal donations by fans.[25][26] During at least one of her pulls, Clorinde's VA successfully pulled for Clorinde while voicing Navia's lines in Clorinde's voice.[27] The full livestream pulling session can be viewed here.

On June 18, 2024, Clorinde’s VA hosted another livestream signing to celebrate Clorinde’s release.[28] The livestream featured a guest appearance from Navia’s VA, and the two signed more Clorivia prints on camera together.[29][30] When asked about conventions, they mentioned how they would be going to several upcoming conventions together and have the same con agent. They briefly talked about maybe cosplaying as Clorinde and Navia and doing a DnD one-shot together at a later date. They also referred to Clorivia as "NaCl" and drew salt shakers on at least one print. At the request of fans, they looked up Clorivia's signature weapons' lore and reacted positively when finding out that they were originally wielded by a married couple. The livestream can be viewed here.

Trivia[]

  • Both have names relating to the sea or navy, with "Navia" being the name of an Iberian water goddess and "Clorinde" being a name for French naval ships.
  • The ship name "NaCl" is a pun combining the first two letters of Navia and Clorinde's names to spell out the chemical formula for sodium chloride (aka salt). This reflects how both characters have some connection with water, and their less-than-amicable relationship at the beginning of the Fontaine Archon Quests - which could be described as "salty."
  • Navia and Clorinde both have Visions from the Ousia Arkhe.
  • Navia and Clorinde both use elemental-infused guns in their elemental skills and in-game cutscenes. Navia uses an umbrella shotgun (with geo-infused bullets) and Clorinde uses a flintlock pistol (with electro-infused bullets).
    • Their main weapons (claymore and sword) also get infused with their respective elements when their skills are activated. This is shown in their initial cutscene together (the "At the Tempest's Crux" cutscene) and in their gameplay.
  • Both Navia and Clorinde have their elemental bursts animated more cinematically in their respective story quests' final cutscenes.
  • In the “Roses and Muskets” event, when tasked with finding an action choreographer who can use firearms, Furina first thinks of Clorinde and Navia.[31]
  • “A stroke of good luck” is a possible treasure chest opening voiceline for the both of them.[32][33]
  • In the Japanese version of Clorinde’s voiceline about Chiori, she mentions that Chiori’s shop was recommended to her by Navia.[34]
  • Navia and Clorinde were the first new characters in their respective elements after over a year. Navia was the first new Geo character in the game after 714 days (December 20, 2023 release date), and Clorinde was the first new Electro character after 616 days (June 05, 2024 release date).
    • The previous Geo character was Yun Jin, who was released on January 05, 2022, and the previous Electro character was Cyno, who was released on September 28, 2022.
  • Navia and Clorinde are often shown together in HoYoFair fan works.
  • They are also often shown together in HoYoverse-commissioned Bilibili ads.
  • The weapons that Navia and Clorinde officially wield have matching lore.
    • In the 4.0 “At the Tempest's Crux” cutscene, Navia uses a Whiteblind while Clorinde uses an Iron Sting. The two weapons are from the same weapon series, and the descriptions of both weapons describe the story of two lovers.[35][36]
    • Their signature weapons tell a tale about a young noblewoman (Rosa Reed, née Leticia Randolph) who gave up her nobility and “[took] on the name of the rose” to marry a man she met in Fleuve Cendre and her husband (Thompson Reed) who later betrayed Poisson to the Marechausse Hunters. Navia’s signature weapon Verdict is from the woman’s perspective, while Clorinde’s signature weapon Absolution is from the man’s perspective.[37][38]
      • In present-day Fontaine (over 500 years after the weapons’ story takes place), Navia is now the leader of the Spina di Rosula (which translates to “Thorn of a Rose”) with their main base in Poisson, while Clorinde is a successor to the Marechaussee Hunters of old.
      • It is hinted that Thompson had worked with Rosa’s father to betray their home (in essence, betraying Rosa) for the benefit of Rosa and their children. A parallel can be drawn to Callas’s duel with and his final request for Clorinde; both people essentially betray Navia’s trust to secure the latter’s safety.
  • Navia is older than Clorinde. In Navia's Character Story 3, she states that she met Clorinde when she was "something over ten years," while in Clorinde's Story Quest, Clorinde says she had spent her tenth birthday at Navia's house (meaning that Clorinde was younger than ten when she first met Navia).
  • The music track that plays during their first cutscene together (the "At the Tempest's Crux" cutscene) is called Pas de deux di Rosula e Candela, which means the "step of two of the rose (Navia) and candle (Clorinde)" in French. A "pas de deux" is a duet in ballet and often symbolic of a love story, consisting of 5 parts, each of which can be equated to a different segment of the cutscene.[39][40][41] The track can be listened to here.
    • Although obvious since the cutscene features the two heavily, further evidence that "rose" refers to Navia and "candle" refers to Clorinde is that Navia's title is "Helm of the Radiant Rose" and Clorinde's title is "Candlebearer, Shadowhunter" in the game.
    • Additionally, Navia’s Story Quest cutscene music is called “La condotta della Rosula” (The Conduct of the Rose) and Clorinde’s Story Quest cutscene music is called “Madrigale della Candela” (Madrigal of the Candle). Navia and Clorinde’s tracks from Shimmering Voyage Vol. 4 are also the only tracks to be titled similarly, with the same Italian naming structure (using “della”).[42]
  • Additionally, they are both the only Fontainian characters to have Italian titles for the music of both their teaser and demo trailers. All other characters’ music titles are instead in French, English, Latin, or Greek.[43]
    • For Navia, her teaser theme is titled “Via col vento rosato” (Gone with the rosy wind) and her demo theme is titled “Largo alla donzella” (Make way for the damsel).
    • For Clorinde, her teaser theme is titled “Possente legge e formidabil nume” (Mighty law and formidable deity) and her demo theme is titled “Non si levava ancor” (It has not yet risen).
  • Both Navia and Clorinde's special dishes boost Stamina. Navia’s specialty is a variant of Rainbow Macarons called “Pick What You Like!” that decreases all party members' climbing and sprinting Stamina consumption by 25% for 1500s. Clorinde’s specialty is a variant of Bulle Sauce Duck Breast called “Tagged and Bagged” that restores 80 Stamina.
    • Both dishes are also named after what Navia and Clorinde would say when serving and/or preparing their dish, respectively. The name of Navia’s dish is self-explanatory; she is telling the servee to pick whichever macaron they want to eat. The name of Clorinde’s dish is a reference to the phrase “bag and tag,” which is what is said when one is wrapping a dead body.
  • In the majority of their cameo appearances together, Clorinde always trails slightly behind Navia. This can be seen in their Lantern Rite guest appearance, Emilie's Demo trailer, and the Fontaine Recap video.
Clorivia - Luckin Coffee

Luckin Coffee’s official Taobao page collab ad. (Translation) Clorinde: “No~ I didn't put any stickers on your back~”

  • On the official Taobao store page of Luckin Coffee, for their December 2024 collaboration with Genshin Impact, there was an advertisement of Clorinde pretending to not have placed several stickers on Navia’s back (using edited versions of the chibi stickers from the collaboration’s sticker pack).[44][45][46]
Clorivia TCG talent cards

TCG talent cards

  • In Genius Invokation TCG, they both have similarly designed Talent Combat Action Equipment Cards. Most notably, their hats and the ends of their outfits are drawn with the same positioning in both their cards.
  • The Character Notes for both Clorinde and Navia have the two playing out a Tabletop Troupe scenario on each notes' last page.
    • For Clorinde's Character Notes which were posted for her Version 5.3 rerun banner, after Paimon fails to bribe Clorinde into giving any hints, Navia cheerfully tells Paimon to give up trying to sway Clorinde's "impartiality."[47]
    • For Navia's Character Notes which were posted for her Version 5.6 rerun banner, Navia asks if she can use persuasion for the cooking scenario, but Clorinde says that she lacks the correct items, looking relieved that the persuasion failed. Navia’s “persuasion” attempt is a reference to the Reel Ad-Venture 2025 event.[48][49]
