CocoaPowder is the non-binary ship between Chara and the Yellow Human Soul from the Undertale fandom.
Canon[]
Chara and the Yellow Human Soul are both humans that fell into the Underground. Chara is the first one to fall, while the yellow human fell at some point afterwards. During Chara's time in the Underground, they were adopted by the royal family. At their death, Asriel absorbed Chara's soul and brought their body to the Surface, only to be attacked by humans. This resulted in Asriel's death. In his grief, Asgore declared war and that any human who fell would be killed so that they may break the Barrier. Due to the aftermath of Chara's death, the yellow soul faced hostility from monsters throughout their journey, and their soul ended up in Asgore's possession.
Chara and the yellow soul's coffins are stored in Asgore's basements, along with coffins of the other human souls. However, Chara's coffin is empty, as Toriel took their body to the Ruins for a proper burial. It is implied that Chara's grave is the bed of golden flowers in the beginning of the game. With that being the only known entrance to the Underground, it is likely the yellow soul encountered Chara's grave upon their arrival.

CocoaPowder's ship name was created by @MissingCiro and @Extrilen on Twitter in response to a tweet by @clownboo_Art (aka Jewel) asking for Chara and Clover duo name ideas. Jewel popularized the name CocoaPowder, and while they originally intended to use it as a platonic name, they are fine with it being a ship name as well.[1]
CocoaPowder is a relatively recent ship and is fairly popular both romantically and platonically. It first emerged after the full release of the fan game Undertale Yellow, a prequel centered around the yellow human soul, named Clover. UTY's interpretation of the character grew popular in the fanbase, and out of a desire to have Clover interact with other humans, ships such as Red Justice gained popularity.
Shortly after that tumblr user karmaspidr, also known as the creator of the desert sanctuary AU posted. this post on April 10th. which was seemingly the first piece of cocoapowder content With clover specifically. And would go on to post text box story's, memes, headcannons and about the ship. And becoming became the "godfather of cocoapowder" as said by himself here[1]
CocoaPowder gained more popularity after the release of Undertale Red & Yellow, a fan mod in which both Chara and Clover comment on Frisk's journey throughout the game.
