Cocodile is the het ship between Coco and Dingodile from the Crash Bandicoot fandom.

Canon[]

Despite having appeared in numerous games together, Coco and Dingodile have rarely interacted with one another. The first and so far only instance of direct communication between the them is shown in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. Upon arriving at Bermugula's Orbit, Coco crash lands on top of Dingodile and is shocked at his appearance, before he assures her and everyone else that he is not here to fight.

After the N. Tropys' defeat, Coco and Dingodile have a conversation about the food they had while visiting the Sn@xx Dimension. When Cortex runs off with Kapuna-Wa in his airship, Dingodile is the one to give Coco a boost to chase after the mad scientist.

Beyond that, Coco and Dingodile have had minor meetings and run ins: Dingodile was forced to be a part of Aku Aku's team alongside Crash and Coco in Crash Bash due to a lack of balance between good and evil, and in Crash: On The Run! where Coco can face Dingodile as one of the bosses.

Fanon[]

Cocodile born from fanon. While the exact original source of this ship is unclear, the spearhead for it can be traced back to a user on DeviantArt known as sammychan816. The user was inspired to draw art of the pairing after reading a fan fiction about them, and it is courtesy of them that the ship gained traction.

During the franchises' hiatus period (pre-N. Sane Trilogy), the ship was seemingly quite popular among fans - arguably the most popular het ship for both characters at the time. With the advent of the N. Sane Trilogy and eventually It's About Time, the ship began losing popularity and eventually fell to the wayside in favor of more popular ships, such as Tawnagodile and Coco's many femslash ships. There are still a few who support the ship though, suggesting that the original legacy for the ship remains.

Original depictions of the ship were largely romantic in nature, playing along with the beast and beauty trope. Later when It's About Time released, newer fans took the ship more platonically and played with the idea of Coco and Dingodile butting heads nonsensically, similar to a scene from the game.

A clear distinction between the two variants is the version of Dingodile used. Those who ship him and Coco romantically tend to use his design from Crash Bandicoot: Warped, whereas the friends version uses his It's About Time design.

Tracking down work of this ship isn't necessarily difficult due to its early popularity, but it can be tedious to do so. This is largely in part to how few works are tagged, meaning almost none of it is categorized properly. A direct search on DeviantArt yields back plenty of results, though; however, only so few of them will match the search index.
