Coinbook is the het ship between Coiny and Book from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
Battle for Dream Island Again[]
As Coiny and Pin take Teardrop for their team, Book stops them and tells the two that Teardrop will only switch if she wants to. Coiny then says that he'll let Teardrop go back if she refuses, but as she cannot speak up, he drags Teardrop away anyways. Book complains to Fries afterwards about what he did.
Upon receiving the new Hand-powered Recovery Center, Coiny uses it to recover the remaining dead contestants. However, after trying to bring Book back, he is surprised when the machine tells him that she is still alive.
After Coiny and the other three remaining W.O.A.H. Bunchers find Book and Ruby, he asks Book where the Hand-powered Recovery Center is. Book informs him that it was crushed as the two figure out who out of the teams they've lost as a result. While Book feels bad about it, Coiny notes it in a positive light that they have become the final six contestants of the season. Later after the six finish cranking the machine that generates a new Hand-powered Recovery Center, the Hand-powered Hand-powered Recovery Center Creator (HPHPRCC), Coiny is startled when the machine says it will self-destruct. Book, being an HPHPRCC manual, informs him that the machine is single-use and self-destructs after creating the HPRC. Coiny is confused as to why Firey Speaker Box didn't tell them that before, although the machine simply disappears once it self-destructs.
After Book is turned metal from eating yoyleberries, Coiny tells her that they're matching now after he previously ate some. Book mistakes Coiny for Nickel and questions where his arms came from before Coiny corrects her. However, Nickel approaches the two and pretends to have arms by using Bomby's, shocking Coiny while Book isn't fooled. Later during the challenge, Coiny and Book fight each other alongside their respective teams on top of a dehumidifier.
As Coiny approaches Flower with the key to unlock her last petal, Book spots him and tells her team to grab it from him. After Ruby fails to snatch it from him, Coiny picks up Pencil and scribbles on Book's pages using her. Book calls Coiny out for doing so as the two get into a slap fight. Ice Cube breaks up the fight and Book realizes that the answer to their conflict is "unfurl". She then unfurl's Coiny's fingers and catches the key from him. Right as Book proudly unlocks the petal, Coiny pushes her aside and rips it off to make his team win. Coiny cheers and calls it unfurling Book's brain as Book stammers out of defeat.
During the island challenge, Ruby and Book are taken aback when Coiny and Pin steal their jetpack to advance to the next island. Later during the final island, the two duos are the last ones who haven't made it to the bunk bed at the top yet. Coiny ends up witnessing Pin becoming enraged after Ruby and Book use her song to progress to the bunk beds, though this ends up causing him and Pin to win afterwards.
In the birdhouse challenge, Book's team, The Stars, starts an ambush against Coiny's team, The Hearts. Coiny catches Fries' shrink ray and finds Book running towards him. He cocks the shrink ray and fires it at Book, who dodges the lasers. Book opens her pages to a shield which deflects the lasers elsewhere as she closes herself on Coiny to trap him. As their team members tackle each other, Coiny and Book continue to fight over the shrink ray until Book is able to take it from him. Fries then lunges at Book as the two teams fight over the device. Amidst the brawl, the laser fires and ends up shrinking the birdhouse to their surprise. Coiny then snatches the shrink ray while Book is distracted and he runs off with it. Later after Coiny and Fries shrink themselves down to reach the birdhouse in the water droplet, Fries gets poisoned and Coiny makes wordplay about it which Book compliments. After all of the competitors are inside of the water droplet, Book accidentally further shrinks Coiny while trying to get Fries.
At the start of the trinket challenge, Coiny and the rest of the contestants go after Pencil and Book's FreeSmart SuperVan. After Book and Needle hop in and Pencil drives it away, Coiny and Pin believe that Needle will help W.O.A.H. Bunch sabotage them, as Needle pledged to play for both FreeSmart and W.O.A.H. Bunch before the challenge. Coiny and Pin decide to go back after them as they chase the FreeSmart SuperVan throughout the challenge. After FreeSmart hides the van under an oasis (with Book still inside of it), Coiny chases after the van when Needle leads him to it. Eventually, Coiny makes it to the other side underneath a cave where he is set on tagging FreeSmart out of the challenge. Book tries to drive the van and ends up ramming Coiny into a wall. Coiny still continues to chase after the van until Fries flings it up out of the cave.
After Cake at Stake, Coiny, Book, and Pin get into an argument over who Needle should side with. Coiny and Book tug over Needle's arms as other contestants fight for her until she decides to split off and team up with Fries instead. Later during the challenge as Book runs off with Fries, Coiny and Pin appear from underground and chase after her since Fries has the yoylite they need.
Coiny shoves Book out of the way at the start of the beacon challenge, and this causes Book to knock over the other four remaining contestants. Later when Coiny arrives at the radio tower to activate his second light, he witnesses Fries knock down Book to the ground. The two climb up the radio tower's ladders and Coiny announces to a walkie-talkie of his lead in the challenge upon making it to the top. Book makes it up as well and asks Coiny to let them know she's in it to win it, despite knowing that Coiny isn't actually talking to anyone. Coiny does so anyways but Book ends up getting knocked off the tower right as she does so, making Coiny announce that Book is doing horribly. Later when Coiny and Fries see Book in the air confident of her chances to win, the two agree to sabotage Book's beacon as Coiny uses a fry from Fries to switch it off from a distance.
In the final challenge,as Nickel's flag accidently scatters pin's remains, Coiny sees Book's image on it. Assuming she's the one who threw it, he gets mad at her. Coiny is then swap tokened with Nickel, putting him next to the glass road. seeing Book, Coiny takes the nearby Pin Drill and goes to exact revenge. He manages to catch up as Book fights over dream island with the other finalists and goes for a diving drill. Book manages to dodge, but Coiny shatters the glass road using the drill, causing Book and the other finalists to fall down, while he manages leap to safe glass floor. He looks over Book and the others falling, with his anger presumably satiated.
Battle for BFDI[]
While Book is telling Ice Cube that it's not BFDIA anymore, Coiny overhears this and shouts that he already knows that. As Gaty tries to ask him about it, Coiny runs off and Book gets annoyed about being distracted.
Fanon[]
Coinbook is a rarepair overall in the Battle for Dream Island fandom. The ship had been around since BFDIA's original run as an early ship for the two. Coinbook continued to remain relatively rare until the season was revived and gave the two much more interactions in the show. With a new online presence, the ship gained a following on platforms such as Twitter, with ship art showing the two affectionately or putting in parallels within their teams.
On AO3, as of April 27, 2025, the ship has 5 works under its platonic tag.
