Crygi is the femslash ship between Crystal Methyd and Gigi Goode from the RuPaul's Drag Race fandom.

Canon

Crystal Methyd and Gigi Goode were two competitors on season 12 of RuPaul's Drag Race, which aired from February 28th to May 29th, 2020. They were both officially named runner-up for the crown, though Crystal has made references to herself being in second place (and Gigi in third). During their season, Crystal and Gigi were in a "showmance" (portmanteau of "show" + "romance"). This was a narrative pushed by Crystal and Gigi themselves alongside producers on the season, and as such, they were often seen together in the Werkroom or talking about each other in confessionals, air-kissed backstage after episode 9's Stars and Stripes Forever runway, and had a segment where the showmance was discussed in the Reunion, among other things.

Following the filming of the season, the pair interacted on social media in ways that encouraged fans to buy into the showmance. This includes in interviews, where Crystal and Gigi vaguely discussed what might happen next in their relationship and their feelings while on the show. They also fanned the flames by calling each other pet names and saying that they were lovers in interviews, Cameos, and social media posts. The speculation about if they were dating or not only helped popularity for Crygi as a ship grow, and so too did rumors about their time on their season. Some of the rumors that were confirmed have become almost synonymous with the ship, such as when Gigi asserts that her and Crystal were "...just sharing fruit snacks!" when fellow contestant Jackie Cox accused them of "canoodling" in the back of the van in the reunion episode. Crystal has also confirmed that their rooms were next to each other during filming.

Following their run on Season 12, they both went on to feature each other in content they made during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Crystal appeared in House of Avalon livestreams and Gigi was featured in Get Dusted the Movie 3 (Stylized as G3T DUST3D TH3 MOVI3 3) alongside Crystal's drag family in their show Get Dusted. These appearances were surrounded by teasing from Crystal's drag family and Gigi's friends in the House of Avalon about their relationship, which furthered speculation. Another notable post-season interaction occured when Crystal lipsynced to Cry by Carly Rae Jepsen during a digital drag show hosted by Biqtch Puddin with fan edits of her and Gigi projected onto and behind her.

They have not interacted as much recently as they had in the past, as they rarely get booked together or appear at the same events despite both living in Los Angeles. Crystal and Gigi still support each other, however, as seen by Gigi helping Crystal when she moved to LA.

Fanon

Season 12's timing as the "COVID season" and the friendly/flirtatious energy between cast members led to increased interest in shipping the drag characters from the cast, Crygi included. It has remained one of the most popular ships not only from the season, but overall in the community. Fans of the ship are drawn to the pair's connection, playful flirtation, and their opposing visual styles. Fanfiction of the pair favors alternate universes in which both are in school (high school or college), in a friends-to-lovers scenario, and or are opposites in some way or another. Additionally, works often feature the Fluff and Hurt/Comfort tropes. The pairing is the most popular Season 12 ship on AO3 and the third most popular pairing overall, with over 500 Crygi fanfiction works on AO3 and more exclusively on Tumblr.
