CyXiao is the slash ship between Cyno and Xiao from the Genshin Impact fandom.
Canon[]
Due to the duo being separated on both regional and mortal planes, they never had the chance to meet each other. It leaves many to insert interpretations of their relationship in the blanks. For starters, both are considerably very powerful beings, with Xiao being an adeptus and Cyno a General Mahamatra with a Vision. Xiao is very distant from humans, the Traveler being a slight exception. Cyno often gives off the impression of an unapproachable man given his intimidating status and even stature.
But within Cyno is not what he appears to be on the outside. He's friendly and even a bit of a comedian (though his jokes fail to entertain others). Xiao doesn't have an understanding of human social norms, which makes him all the more unable to form connections with them. Him and Cyno's ability to willingly communicate with others is what forms a stark contrast in their relationship. However, both are very loyal to the ones they truly care for.
They're easily described as faithful guardians willing to perform good deeds (Cyno being faithful to justice against crime and Xiao being the destroyer of demons).
Fanon[]
CyXiao has existed very early on since one month within the game's release in 2020. Their first fanfiction was based off of Cyno's design and personality in the Genshin Manga and Tevyat chapters trailer. CyXiao did not gain much popularity amongst the fandom due to being overshadowed by much popular ships. It only now became more known in 2025 because of the Artist 'Veytrix' who's now bringing them forward as a hidden rarepair along with their very own AU.
The ship is a surprisingly decent rarepair within the fandom. Their numbers on AO3 currently reach above twenty works. Fanarts depicting their romantic relationship can be found across social media, mainly Twitter, as well. They're easily overshadowed by much popular ships such as Xiaother, XiaoLumi, XiaoVen, HuXiao, Cylou, and Cynonari. Some fans of their ship may be multishippers and simultaneously ship CynXiao with other popular ships respectively.
