Cynessa is the friendship between Cyn and Tessa Elliott from the Murder Drones fandom.

Cyn convinces N to ask the Elliotts if she can attend the gala. They bump into Tessa and J, and Tessa is ecstatic at the sight of N. Too busy paying attention to him, she doesn’t realize Cyn behind him. When she does, she gives Cyn a confused and skeptical stare. Cyn answers Tessa’s mental question and claims that J has forgotten to release her from her basement timeout. Despite this, J points out that Cyn escaped regardless.

N is surprised to find out that J and Tessa are locking away his sister figure and proceeds to question Tessa. Tessa exchanges a sorrowful look at N but is interrupted by her mother; Louisa Elliot. Louisa intimidates the group into standing in a horizontal line before her. She degrades and scolds the group, Cyn steps in and rebutted, claiming that “we will no longer be thrown out” in reference to the Worker Drones. Louisa ends up punishing N, who took the blame for Cyn’s act; she punishes Tessa as well and chains the child in a room with Cyn and J.

As Cyn plays with dolls, Tessa turns her attention to the worker. She demands that Cyn not do anything harmful to N, but Cyn replies that she has “backups”. As Tessa looks for ways to break free from her chains, Cyn appears suddenly directly in front of her, but hanging upside down. Cyn reveals herself to be in her Eldritch form, and informs Tessa that she will not need to “discard her pets”, thus Cyn does not need to “discard” her. A lightning strikes, and Cyn’s worker form is completely replaced by something abnormal; she recommends that Tessa does not attend the gala since the latter looks squeamish and disappears from the room.

With the help of J, Tessa breaks free from her chains and sneaks out of the room. She asks J if she is looking forward to murdering a “kid drone” referring to Cyn. The two prepare themselves with weaponry (Tessa acquired a pistol). The two bump into N and a crow Uzi. Cyn takes hold of V and thus causes the female drone to be completely under her influence and become physically mutilated. V is controlled into preventing Tessa and the others from entering Cyn’s basement; a battle between J and V ensue because of this. As Uzi and N enter the basement, Tessa and J confront Cyn in the gala.

Cyn is not present at first, but she eventually initiates a “well timed giggle” and eerily rotates around on a massive globe to face Tessa; a lightning flashes, and Cyn momentarily appears with Eldritch appendages sprouting from her back. She violently and forcefully shoves Tessa’s parents to the side to approach her herself. She informs Tessa that she “didn’t have to see this”, but is constantly being assaulted by the latter (to no avail) before she could finish her sentence. Frustrated by Tessa’s meaningless attempts, she covers the gala into an eerie state and controls J into slamming the door behind them, leaving Tessa trapped with the others. This is undoubtedly the cause of Tessa’s death.

Mass Destruction[]

N decapitates Tessa when the latter refuses to answer his question regarding the crucifix patch. Moments after this, Cyn takes hold of Uzi’s body and engages in battle with N and a shockingly alive Nori Doorman. Once Nori manages to regain Uzi’s consciousness, Cyn’s possession slips. N and Uzi run into a comforting embrace, and while their backs were turned, Cyn reveals herself to be wearing Tessa’s corpse as a disguise. She drags Doll’s unconscious body away from the duo and consumes her heart, ultimately killing her. Uzi and N turn to face her when distracted by strange noises. Cyn rapidly crawls towards N and bites massive chunks of his neck before piercing Uzi. Cyn sarcastically claims their fight has been fun before dipping into the massive hole in the church; enormous tentacles sprout from where she entered along with a large yellow beam. She drags Uzi and N toward the deafening pit but ends up only stealing Uzi, for the latter had freed N from her clutches.

This episode signifies that Cyn had been disguised as Tessa’s adult form since Tessa was first introduced. It appears the two are exceptionally close even during the Absolute Solver’s reign over Cyn’s consciousness.

Moments[]

  • In Heartbeat, Tessa appears in the room with V, N, and J. J notices Cyn and expresses her disappointment for another worker entering the mansion. Cyn slowly appears from behind Tessa, similarly to a shy child, and looks at N before smiling. N awakens from his dream.
  • Cyn appears in the trailer for Home in a picture with Tessa and others.
  • In a promotional image for Home, Tessa and Cyn are seen posing in a portrait plastered in the manor.

Fanon[]

Cynessa sparks controversy due to the Absolute Solver’s complete possession over Cyn, which caused “Cyn” to treat and use Tessa immorally. AUs can display the duo’s relationship without the influence of the AbsoluteSolver. Many fan theories conclude that Tessa is the one responsible for digging Cyn’s body from the pile of drone corpses. Audiences also take note on how similar the two look in physical appearance (hairstyle, bows, outfit, etc) thus explaining why when Cyn wore Tessa’s corpse, it appeared as if Cyn became a humanized version of herself.

This could lead to interpretations of a sibling relationship between them, much like NCyn, the relationship between N and Cyn. Despite the obvious immoral actions and viewpoints Cyn projects onto Tessa, fans continue to have a mutual love for their dynamic. The "tragic friendship", or lovers for some, evokes an endearing subplot that many come to appreciate coming onto the finale. Though very small, a femslash fanbase between the two exists.
