DE is the slash ship between D and E from the Alphabet Lore fandom.

E: After D was kidnapped by F in the episode named after him, F was also going after E in the same instance. Using D’s body as a club, F beat E into submission.
F: F then carried both of them into his lair. There, he chained them up against the wall of the cave. They are both only capable of saying their name in pain, but clearly still alive.
Y: By the time the other letters figured out was going on and reached F’s lair, F had already captured I, R and S and chained them up as well. When N approaches him, having already found all the punctuation gems F left for him to find, F places the last gem he still had on him in front of E and D, still chained up, where he also left N’s gem. F then looks at N, but doesn’t attack, as waiting for N to get the hint about what this whole operation was truly about. But N can’t see F as anything but a monster who’s actions had led to the deaths of two unrelated letters, thus he summons his gem and combines all the powers of his team into a blast that not only goes through F and the wall of his lair as well. F dies almost instantly, but N looking at the letters F had captured in a row, along with F’s corpse and himself has him realize that all seven of them spell a word: FRIENDS. When the letters wonder why F did what he had done, Q finally arrives holding the last gem: a question mark, which he gives to N.
n: Using the question mark’s power, N has a flashback to time when all of the letters were lowercase and f was happily dancing along to r, i, e, n, d and s. However, l and o were delighting in bullying the other letters, so the other five fled the scene as l was launching o at them. The only one willing to stand up for n, f grabbed a, r and t and pranked l by making it look like he had passed gas, causing all the letters rowing up to laugh at l. However, when l and o frame f by making it look like he had spelled a bad word, everyone besides n, even their supposed “friends” gang up on f, causing him to run away after n refused to stand up for him.
Now I Know My ABCs: Thanks to Z turning back time and N retaining his memories in the past, D and E won’t be captured by F in this timeline as n actually stood up for f, thus preventing him becoming a villain.

Fanon[]
DE is one of the more popular ships in the Alphabet Lore fandom, being the third-most popular ship for the fandom in general, the second-most popular exclusively romantic ship and the most popular ship for both characters. The popularity is hard to explain, as they barely really interact in canon, but it could be explained by them spending almost the entirety of their screentime in the first series chained up next to each other.
The idea that they're implied to have been close prior to F becoming a villain is also potential fuel for the ship. Alternatively, since many DE fanfics double as fanfics for FN and PG, some fans may want to see the entire cast end up together.
