Daigetsu is the slash ship between Nagisa Shingetsu and Masaru Daimon from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
Nagisa and Masaru attended Hope's Peak Elementary together prior to the Tragedy. They were in the "troublemakers" class, and came together with the rest of the Warriors of Hope by bonding over their terrible home lives. Monaca Towa convinced the group to commit a mass-suicide by jumping off the roof of the school, and Nagisa and Masaru agreed. They joined Monaca and the others on the roof, but were interrupted by Junko Enoshima. She abducted all five students, and gave them the idea to create a "children's paradise".
Nagisa and Masaru form the Warriors of Hope with their fellow classmates, and each take on a "role" in the group. Masaru is the leader and Hero, and Nagisa is the vice-leader and Sage. Nagisa is the most mature member of the group, and is often times seen scolding Masaru and the others for their childishness. Following Masaru's "death", Nagisa is the only one that is shown to actually care about his well-being. While the other Warriors of Hope cry out for what could have been, Nagisa reminds them that they haven't confirmed that Masaru actually died. He suggests going to look for Masaru, but Monaca Towa won't allow it. Since Masaru is no longer with the group, Nagisa is named the new leader in his stead.
It is revealed in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School that all five members of the Warriors of Hope survived the events of Ultra Despair Girls. They are all still in Towa City, hiding out in a hotel and working with Toko Fukawa and Komaru Naegi.
In the non-canonical Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, Nagisa and Masaru share one scene together with Jataro Kemuri. The three of them are shown in the baths together. Nagisa is annoyed by Jataro and Masaru's splashing, which just prompt Masaru to splash him even more. Nagisa is shocked by how much energy Masaru still has after running around the island all day. Nagisa and Masaru share a couple other scenes with the members of the Warriors of Hope, but do not have any important interactions with each other.
Fanon[]
Daigetsu is a rarepair in the fandom, as with most ships involving the Warriors of Hope. This is likely due to the very young age of the characters, which makes it uncomfortable for some people to imagine them in romantic scenarios. Additionally, Masaru has the least amount of screentime out of all five members of the Warriors of Hope. Still, it is one of the most popular romantic ships for the child characters overall.
Fans enjoy the stark differences between the two characters, and the way that they are frequently shown to butt heads. Shippers can imagine a "rivals to lovers" dynamic occurring between Masaru and Nagisa.
Daigetsu currently has over 25 works on AO3. Its biggest rival is Kemugisa, with the two ships consistently remaining at the top for Warriors of Hope pairings.
