Daiyakure is the slash ship between Yasuhiro Hagakure and Daiya Owada from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
There are no canon interactions between these two characters, as Daiya has died a few years before the events of the first game, where Yasuhiro is first introduced. However, Yasuhiro is the oldest student of his class-being 21 when he first enters Hope's Peak, and Daiya is Mondo's older brother. This would make Yasuhiro relatively closer to his age instead of his classmates' age. The events of Ultra Despair Girls also imply that Yasuhiro's mom has taken an interest in Kiyotaka Ishimaru's father, making Yasuhiro essentially Kiyotaka's older step-brother, which makes both men older brothers of characters from Trigger Happy Havoc.
With Yasuhiro's spiritual powers and experiences and Daiya being dead, it's possible for the two to have somehow connected through Yasuhiro's attempts at clairvoyance. In Chapter 3 of Trigger Happy Havoc, as well as Chapter 5, Yasuhiro is shown to believe in (as well as somewhat fear) ghosts. This also adds to the potential for the two to have interacted at some point in the past.
Having been a quite serious biker gang leader who was passionate about protecting his gang and younger brother, Daiya's apparent personality contrasts greatly with Yasuhiro's more free and ditzy personality, making an appealing opposites attract concept. Also, unlike many of his classmates, Yasuhiro doesn't have another classmate he grows very close to. This makes him easily shippable with characters outside of the 78th Class.
Fanon[]
Daiyakure is a much lesser known ship in the fandom and was most likely the result of a joke. Not much is noted about how their relationship would work, but the fandom tries to fill it in, mostly playing off their opposites attract dynamic. Many people like to believe that the two may have went to the same school before the killing game, or even have dated before it. Fans of the ship also often portray it in one of two ways-either an AU where Daiya never dies and he and Yasuhiro meet and fall in love, killing game or not, or, since Yasuhiro has spiritual powers, him contacting Daiya as a ghost and coming to love him that way.
Due to Daiya being Mondo's older brother, Daiyakure is often a side pair in Ishimondo fics and content. This sometimes also results in Takaaki Ishimaru and Hiroko Hagakure being married, making Yasuhiro Kiyotaka's brother as well. Daiyakure is the most popular romantic ship for Daiya, his only other popular ship being the family ship with his brother. On Yasuhiro's side, it is rivaled by Asakure, which is with a more well known character, and YasuKanon, which has canon interactions between the two.
Despite the fact that its a lesser known ship, it does have a small amount of fics. Currently the ship has 56 works on AO3.
