DamiNate introduction

Damian and Nate in the intro.

Damian Ambrose and Nate Fisher are the main protagonists of the detective-themed visual Roblox novel "Case File 1225". In the game, we play the role of detective Nate who, alongside his partner and best friend Damian, is assigned to look into crimes in the fictional city of Haines, Meionia. The two are eager to expose the darkness that lies within as Nate and his partner, Damian, work to unravel the enigmatic circumstances behind Mrs. Chase's tragic murder. In the main intro screen of the game, if the player (possibly Nate) analyzes enough, they'll notice a sticky note below the monitor which'll indicate Damian's presence within.

Prequel — "Breakfast"[]

“Damian had decided to invite Nate for breakfast! Nate wonders his true intentions.”
— Prequel's introduction.

The header image of the case depicts Damian and Nate having breakfast together at an accorded diner as they chat. Below the picture we can see the description of the plot.

The protagonist wakes up over a phone call which he reluctantly answers, annoyed at the fact that it was Sunday in the early morning to receive a call. The person that greets him in the other line is none other than Damian, who asks if he's awake, and when he realizes, he apologizes for waking him up, although is reassured by his friend, who seeks for Damian's motive to call him. Damian would then offer Nate to have breakfast together at Kwan's diner, especially since Damian was craving of pancakes, which suggestion Nate accepts. Once determined the time of the meeting, Nate dismisses the call, and finds the situation odd, but is unsurprised since it was Damian, and although he woke him up, Nate considers keeping the habit of waking up early anyway. He also adds that whenever Damian stumbles upon something interesting, he's "drop the task at hand and play with the concept instantly." However, since the matter was breakfast, Nate wonders if anything happened, but ignores it and decides to dress up since he was starving too.

DamiNate breakfast

Later, at the diner, Nate jokingly calls Damian the "night owl" that is inviting him for breakfast today, and asks what's up. Damian giggles and goes in a brief silence, which concerns Nate, but then his friend reveals that he would be now working alongside Nate in his investigations, which confuses Nate, and Damian bashfully explains that he talked to his dad (which he corrects to Nate's boss), about having him as a recruit for job training, which idea the boss agreed on. Nate assumes that Damian was going to investigate crime scenes with him now, and Damian excitedly concurs. Nate expresses hesitation while trying to compliment the situation, but Damian notices his tension and deduces he was not happy with this, however Nate refutes and says he didn't know it was possible. Damian then howls, "Great!!!"

As they eat, Nate notices a coffee mug and queries Damian about it, asking he didn't drink coffee, and Damian concurs, but replies it was for Nate. The latter thanks him for the gest, but suddenly he gets another phone call, which transmitter would this time be his boss, who requires his presence on his office due to a new case emerging. Damian's curiousity kicks in and asks Nate about the call, to which Nate explains that he had been summoned by the boss, and that he'll have to drop by his office later, offering Damian to accompany him, and Damian enthusiastically accepts his invitation, since after all they were partners in crime now. He then playfully threatens Nate that he'll be finishing his food as well if he doesn't eat now. Nate bawls, "I will!!!"

Chapter 1 — "Humble Beginnings"[]

“A woman has mysteriously died in her own apartment and it is up to Nate to figure out who it is. But not to worry, Damian is also here to offer support!”
— Chapter 1's introduction.

The header image for this chapter shows Nate standing up while talking to a crouched-down Damian examining a chalk outline of the victim's corpse. Like the prior the episode, the plot is described below the picture.

The episode begins with a brief introduction of the murder case, starting with the time, date, place, and the circumstances of the murder. Nate and Damian take up the case of Ms. Oliveira Chase, whose cause of death remains undetermined, around 2-3 am at her own home. The two detectives enter at 2:37 PM.

Switching to Nate, Damian snaps his fingers to wake him up, and points out that he began to space out, and worried that he hadn't gotten enough sleep last night, which Nate apologizes and asks what they were doing again. Damian seems concerned but still enlightens Nate that they were at the boss' crime scene doing his job for him. Nate understands, but Damian questions if he's good now, suggesting to sit down, but Nate declines and prompts to continue.

Nate begins a brief monologue from when he first became a detective (or rather, an assistant), and narrates how the boss didn't seen too fond of him, and wonders if it was due to the way he dressed or acted, but he always found a reason to give him extra work, but although he was quite fed up with him, he couldn't do much as he didn't want to lose his job. Then, Nate introduces the person standing in front of him: Damian, his best friend since high school, and also his boss' son (which he reveals as a surprising fact). Yet, the boss treated both equally despite their familial ties, and Nate believes this was due to Damian's rebellious nature. However, he highlights his intelligence by claiming that he knows exactly what he's doing, despite only being a college student, which he attributes to his father's influence and the fact that he had a good deal of detective experience, which Nate finds impressive himself.

DamiNate chapter 1 header

Damian and Nate investigating the crime scene.

Back to reality, Damian tells Nate that if he was ready they would start their investigation, and assumes that Nate wanted to investigate the whole house first, which statement makes Nate go silent, and Damian smiles while saying he was just messing with him. He quickly changes Nate's focus on wanting to look for the items that might be related to the victim's death, and guides the player throughout the investigation while giving his description or opinion on some compoments. For example, the first thing he'll tell Nate to do is to investigate the chalk outline on the floor, and once done so, Damian will explain that the dead body was taken out before they got here, and that the cops took a quick look around but had to leave once the "professionals" arrived, which he refers like that to themselves, so it was up for them to track up the case. He'll signalize Nate about his notebook, in which everything Nate notes down will be recorded. The book itself has two sections: Evidence and People", although for now the player has Nate and Damian's profiles. If checking Damian's, Nate will describe what he knows of him.

  • Damian is Nate's best friend.
  • Damian took a gap year, is currently majoring in criminology.
  • Damian has a lot of free time as he aces the classes easily (further proving his intelligence).
  • Damian does cooking occasionally.
  • Damian often invites Nate over to eat or play video games.

Back to Damian, he'll state to get back to business and "clean up investigation", which sentence Nate will inquiry about, to which Damian concurs since it's what they've come here for, and repeats his past question if Nate didn't need to sit down, but Nate encourages to behin the case. Now, the player is free to investigate different items or rooms, although it's recommended to look the living room first.

If interacting with some dirt on the floor, Nate will call it "interesting", to which Damian is perplexed about Nate just finding the dirt like that, but would anyway let Jamison (a forensic scientist) run a test on the dirt samples once they get back.

When checking a flipped chair, Nate will assume that there must have been some sort of struggle before Oliveira died on the floor, and Damian jokingly says he'll be next if he keeps mentioning the obvious, which disturbs Nate, although Damian shrugs it off and prompts him to continue.

If Nate investigates two cans of lime soda, he will deduce that the woman must have been thirsty, but Damian is surprised that her bladder is still holding up, explaining Nate that Oliveira wasn't drinking alone.

When interacting with a remote, Nate will point out that the apartment is freezing, asking him if he turned on the A/C, to which Damian says yes, although since he was lying, he denies and mentions it was like that since they got here. Nate notices that the air conditioner was on 16 Celsius (60 Fahrenheit) and decides to turn it off. Damian playfully tells him to better do it soon or else he was eating him for rations in case the whole house freezes over. Nate advises his friend to not do that, but Damian responds, "No promises."

When Nate investigates the bedroom, there are two items which'll count as evidence: a picture frame and a sticky note. Going for the former first will make Damian point out about Oliveira and the other man on the picture's happiness, to which Nate highlights that he would be also happy having a beach day with a friend, but Damian begins to bet that they're more than that. Nate's condition for the game is that Damian is betting to lose, since Oliveira is married to Mr. Chase (another man), making Damian look away in frustration. Investigating the sticky note reveals that it mentions a meeting with Jon at 3 p.m., and Damian inquires about the identity of that individual, to which Nate responds that he is a friend at work and was the man in the photograph they saw earlier.

Moving on to the bathroom, there are two additional pieces of evidence to consider: a hung-up cloth in the bathtub and a towel. Looking for the former leads Nate to believe that the woman washed her clothes before her death, but Damian questions why she hung them indoors rather than outside, given that the bathroom was inefficient for drying garments. Nate deduces that Oliveira was attempting to straighten it because he did not see an iron in the house, and Damian inquires about yesterday's weather, to which Nate responds that it was sunny and asks why, but Damian says, "No reason." Going for the towel will make Damian smell it first before grimacing that it stinks. He playfully offers it to Nate to sniff the towel, but he blurts out a big NO! and pleads him to get it away from him.

The last place to investigate is the kitchen, which harbors the last piece of evidence needed to complete the research. When looking at the trashcan, Nate will notice a lot of shattered glass underneath, and also a trail of blood, although Damian queries whether he had cut himself, however Nate calls him name is disbelief while his friend says he's kidding. However, Nate judges the blood by its look that it's been there for a few days already.

Once the investigation is done, Damian finds it a drag, however Nate reminds him that it was a crime scene and he should take it more seriously. Damian apologizes, and explains that there was nothing interesting about the crime scene, quickly identifying that Oliveira was struck with a bottle due to the glass shards and her hair being damp. Damian also expresses his disappointment that they're just here to do the cleanups. He then queries about Oliveira's husband, Mr. Chase, since he was absent, to which Nate explains he has been taken to custody by the police to question him, and Damian sarcastically remarks his surprise that the cops are finally doing their job. Nate adds Jon onto the list too that has been taken in too, and suggests to go down to the police station to interview him later. However, their main objetive is to have their evidence analyzed, and considers Dr. Jamison being able to help out. Nevertheless, Damian shows disgusts towards "that freak Jamison", and Nate advises him not to be mean, and hesitantly mentions that it's good he was passionate about his job. Damian responds humorously, sticking out his tongue: "Whatever you say."

Nate would then narrate what they went to collect the evidence found and bagging and labelling them. He would then consider grabbing some iced coffee before heading to the department. Once at the place, Damian announces their arrival and reminds Nate the suggestion of buying his own car, and playfully threats charging him for each trip in his car if Nate kept treating him like a chauffeur. However, Nate reminds Damian that he couldn't afford himself a car on an assistant's salary, but Damian refutes by saying that Nate can afford Marbucks iced coffee every day, which makes Nate exclaim he doesn't drink it that often. However, Nate shifts topics again and decides to go in the station already, ordering Damian to stay and wait for him, but he refuses and decides to join along, which makes Nate remind him that he's restricted from the lab area, but he reassures Nate by telling him to say that he's just with him as his chauffeur.

Now inside the department, before Nate could start looking for Jamison's lab, they're stopped by Ms. Diane, who requests Nate's ID. She then informs him that he's just right in time, as Dr. Jamison had finished the autopsy report, and has been talking non-stop about it before they arrived. Diane also guides him to the location to Jamison's, which Nate is grateful of being notified. The player is once again free to look around or going straight to the elevator to Jamison, and also can start a conversation with Ms. Diane. If going for this latter option, we can ask her about three different topics, although only in two Damian makes an appearance. When asking about Diane's day, she'll reply, "Fine. Until your "partner" came in." The culprit will playfully remark that he lives to please. Now, if the player wants a reminder of the lab's location, he'll state the question to Diane, however Damian is seen ashamed while reminding him that it's not their first day around here, and guides him to the elevator mentioned earlier. Nate will apologize over this.

Leaving the main site to the hallway will show the player three rooms: an empty one, Jamison's, and the research lab. If looking for the empty office, Damian will explain Nate about what he had heard before of someone having recently moved to another department. Entering Jamison's office will grant the player two options to investigate, although with the same outcome that they shouldn't be here: the desk and the pin board. For the former case, both will be shocked over the great mess in the room; for the latter, Nate considers that he shouldn't look at Jamison's stuff. If trying to go in the research lab, Damian tells Nate that they don't need to go there, and, while smiling, he says, "Let's continue, Nate."

Daminate elevator

Damian and Nate in the elevator.

When Nate and Damian arrive at the elevator, the latter inquires about Nate's thoughts on the case so far; however, because Nate did not understand what he meant, his friend clarifies that everything pointed to Ms. Oliveira being bludgeoned by the assailant after some sort of tussle, but he is not convinced by the assumption because it did not sound entirely correct. Nate is also unsure, but says they'll see after they get an analysis, which may make more sense later. Once the elevator arrives, Damian prompts him to go inside, and Nate follows up after him. Nate would consider Damian's words about the case, and eventually has the same conclusion as him of the assumption having several inconsistencies to just accept it, even if that was what the police was rolling with at the moment, however he feels out of the line to even think about challenging the official explanation, because after all he was just a detective assistant, and focuses to see what Jamison says first.

Once outside, Damian looks at Nate in uneasiness as this latter drinks his coffee, inquiring if it was even good, with also playfully remarking that he always has the barista add 3 pumps of vanilla and extra sugar, that being a different beverage at this point. Nate tells him to shut up, stating that it was the perfect amount, however Damian says he prefers not having tooth decay. to finally determine they're already at Jamison's, Damian points out some chemical smells and rubbing alcohol around, and wonders how is Nate even keeping his appetite, to which Nate claims that he underestimates him, and Damian lets him to suit himself.

Now inside Jamison's lab, Nate asks for his services to have the dirt and bottle shards analyzed first, which Jamison accepts, and after that Nate asks for Oliveira's autopsy report, though he receives unsettling news: there was not going to be an autopsy for the woman, and Nate questions why, to which Jamison responds that he must find him a good reason, because "taking someone apart and putting them back together is hard work." This meant it was a restriction from he department until a good reason is shown, and Jamison is sorry to disappoint Nate. Damian interferes to ask Jamison if they could at least take a look at the body, surprising Nate, and Jamison accepts since she wasn't processed yet.

As Oliveira is taken out of body storage for inspection, Jamison tells them both that if they find anything suspicious, he will give them his input. Nate is uneasy about checking the body, despite it being a common practice on his line, particularly empathizing with how much the person loses when they die, as he feels like he's dealing with a lifeless object rather than a person, and his sense of justice manifests itself as Nate will do whatever it takes to find out what happened, even if it's the least he can do for her. Damian notices this and asks his friend if he was scared, but Nate responds that he is just existential, which Damian realizes that he put things into perspective, and Nate claims once again he'll find out the truth.

If investigating the victim's clothes, Nate notices that they're frozen, and assumes that she must have been wet while she was brought to the morgue. With this on mind, Damian asks Nate if he could check the rest of her clothes to see whether they were also frozen or not, and he concurs. Nate concludes that it was as Damian had anticipated, and the rest of the articles of clothes were wet too. However, Nate found strange this fact as it couldn't be possible that the department wasn't wet while she was, and besides her hair was damp according to the report when they found her. When Jamison takes a peek under the clothes, he announces the answer to this: ice crystals scattered on he underside of Oliveira's body. The forensic assumes that the clothing was half dried when being taken here, conjecturing that the killer didn't think thorough with drying up the victim.

Overall, more evidence is added to the notebook, which differs significantly from the official account. After the inspection, Damian playfully asks Nate if he is done feeling around a dead lady, which enrages Nate; however, Damian adds that he merely meant to lighten the mood, and concludes that is all they will find from her body. Damian asks Jamison what he thinks of it, assuming that everything they've seen justifies a complete autopsy. Jamison is still hesitant about his decision because it has various negative implications, and he swiftly dismisses the two while stating that he will have both the analysis and the autopsy report by night, assuring that he'd give them a call. Damian and Nate are immediately pushed out, which frustrates the former, especially given Jamison's unique method of saying "goodbye" to his friends. However, Nate claims that whatever they discovered must have unnerved him. Damian believes his statement is fair, as Jamison was correct in stating that they were ready to pass the body without properly inspecting it, which did not inspire confidence. As Nate sighs, he expresses his suspicion that they're digging somewhere they shouldn't be, but he gets a ruffling on his hair in response, with Damian telling him not to give it so much thought on his silly head, and reassuring him that they'll be alright as long as they follow the trail of evidence. Nate agrees and tells Damian to head off to the police station to question either Jon or Mr. Chase.

Daminate drive

Nate lost in thought over Damian's words.

During the drive to the police station, Nate monologues how he can't stop thinking on what Damian said earlier, considering him much wiser than himself, despite knowing that he's supposed be the real detective in this case, and even saying he sometimes feels that Damian should be in his place, although is aware that Damian would hate that, since there was nothing he hated more than bureaucracy. Nonetheless, in the end, Nate is glad to someone like him as a friend. In the image, Nate is seen looking aside while drinking his coffee as Damian side-glances him on concern as he's driving both.

“(He's only here because of me. (...) I'm glad to have a friend like him.)”
— Nate's monologue about Damian.

When they arrive at the station, Nate stops some officers from taking Jon away as he swore not having done the crime, with Nate announcing being the one in charge of the boss' case. One of the officers notices Ambrose's (the boss) son, and the other remarks that Damian’s father would take the latter to the office (presumably the detective agency’s) whenever his mom was busy. Damian is fed up with the flashback chat and asks if they are letting Detective Fisher do his job, which worries Nate, but is granted permission to speak with Jon for only 5 minutes. Damian is angered by the officer's bargain, especially since he does it frequently, but Nate rushes him to the questioning owing to the limited time available.

Jon Minters became frantic to be pronounced innocent, and he freaks out in front of Damian and Nate, pleading with them to tell the officers that he was innocent and couldn't have killed Oliveira. Damian calms down and informs the other man that Nate is going to ask him some questions, and asks him to be as short and concise as possible because they don't have much time, before giving Nate the job. He thanks Damian in advance.

When the interrogation time is over, Jon is quickly dragged away while screaming and flailing, and Nate monologues that he didn't realize how much he was gaping until Damian tipped his mouth shut. He jokes that if he keeps his mouth open, a bug would fly in, but Nate doesn't believe him, so Damian convinces him that it's true, relating an incident linked to his joke. Nate remains perplexed as to why they were discussing it, and he wonders if he did not witness Jon being hauled away, but Damian tells him there wasn't anything they could do until Jamison's information about the reports were out. Now that he had been talking about it, Damian asks Nate if he had received a call from Jamison, but he denies, to which Damian will realize that it was getting late, offering having dinner together. Nate, however, is unsure having the appetite after all of this, but Damian reassures that his stomach will wake up once they see the new Kwan Diner's menu combo, and quickly drags Nate with him out the station after finishing speaking.

At the diner, Damian notes Nate's happiness, and Nate comments that it's not every day they get to have pancakes for dinner; nevertheless, Damian finds it gross that Nate talks with his mouth full, and wonders whether he was full from just eating pancakes. Nate declares he'd just order more pancakes if that happens, and Damian states he'll never understand him. However, Damian smiles while saying that it was better to cherish the pancake-induced bliss whilst Nate could, because Damian was about to bring him back to reality: the case. Once again Damian asks Nate his thoughts so far, theories or hypothesis. Nate affirms having thoughts on it, but admits they're disjointed and scattered, as there were so many things that didn't add up. Damian agrees, as this murder seemed to only pinpoint Jon as the true killer of Oliveira, making it an open and shut case, although he confesses that would almost make too much sense. Nate finds it really strange and can't wrap his head around it, and Damian recommends going over the facts together then.

DamiNate deduction example

A cropped example of the mini-game itself.

A mini-game will play off in which the player has to connect what they know so far with the evidence found and the information learned to link it into a sole answer. Damian will also have an important role here, and he'll always rate whether our answers are right or wrong based off on deductions from lacking details, and if hitting the wrong answer, Damian gives the player another chance to select the correct option. Once gathered enough information for a detailed deduction, both begin to narrate the occurrences with the proper timeline. Every piece of evidence warrants an alternative murderer personally related to the case which might have wrapped some policial information and had framed Jon into this as a scapegoat.

Nate is taken aback by Damian's deduction abilities and inquires as to how long he has been sitting on this, which perplexes Damian. Nate feels that Damian must have figured it all out during their visit to the morgue or possibly since the flat. Damian flushes and looks away, disputing this, though Nate admits that he sometimes wonders whether he's the true detective here. Damian refutes his allegation and assures Nate that he was unquestionably the detective, but he occasionally needs a shove in the right direction and confirmation that his "gut feelings" are sound. Nate asks about his "gut feelings", to which Damian responds that Nate has been suspicious of this case since the morning, despite the fact that he is aware of it but has not expressed it until now. He also deduces that Nate lacks confidence in his judgement, as if he is afraid of being wrong, and chooses to remain silent; however, Damian believes Nate is capable of deducing everything from the evidence provided, indicating good detective work, and that Nate only needed the confidence to admit it. Nate still thinks it's a shame that Damian doesn't work as a detective. Damian flushes again and sheepishly admits that he knows that wasn't his scene. However, Nate refutes that managing to deduce his own feelings completely as also part of a good detective work too, although Damian says that he underestimates how low confidence looks to other people, and Nate refuses to believe it was that obvious, prompting Damian to remind him that he's always told to have his back straight, to which Nate feels ganged up, and Damian promises to keep going until Nate owns up to being a great detective. As Nate is about to stop Damian from embarrassing him further, he receives the third phone call that day, which turns out to be Jamison, who has the reports ready, albeit it would have been preferable if they were explained personally. Damian inquires about Jamison, and Nate informs him that reports are complete despite Jamison's lack of enthusiasm for them, and Damian seeks Nate's Gut Feelings opinion on this information, and after telling him to stop calling it that, he conjectures that whatever Jamison discovered must be related to what they have deduced. Damian feels it's more like it and asks Nate whether it wouldn't be better to say it aloud. Nate affirms and thanks Damian, but announces they should be going soon. Damian reassures Nate, as he was his chauffeur.

When they discover that Oliveira's true cause of death was drowning, not blunt force trauma, Jamison discloses that the woman's case papers have all disappeared, and Damian concludes that it was all a cover-up, much to their dismay. However, Jamison recalls that Nate is the detective in charge of this case, and he advises submitting the official dossier he had on hand before to Jon's formal claim, in the hopes that they can refocus the case. Both leave the lab and drive straight to the police station, but Nate can't believe there was a plot and adds that Damian's assumptions were on point, but neither of them knew that it would lead to this. Damian notices that Nate spaced out again, so when he snaps his fingers, Nate comes back to his senses and notably lost. Damian, worried over his state, assures they don't have to do it if Nate wasn't up for it. The latter asks what he meant, to which Damian tells him that if this case turns out to be a coverup, then Nate would be exposed as someone snooping around by doing this, and implicates that they might want Nate dead if they felt he knew too much, to which he once again asked if he was up for it, and Nate exclaims, "Of course!!!" and can't believe Damian asked that, because if it turned out to be a conspiracy, that would mean Jon was being framed, and he couldn't let an innocent man be punished for a crime he didn't commit, especially since he has the choice and chance to bring Oliveira justice. After a moment of silence, Damian agrees with Nate's words, describing him as someone too kind for his own good. Nate notices he was murmuring, but Damian dismisses the topic and proceed to enter the station.

One of the officers greet Mr. Fisher and his "side-kick", although sarcastically pointing that they're back too soon, however Nate wastes no time and declares that Oliveira's report was outdated, and exposes her real cause of death. However, the cops refuse to believe him especially since for them the case was clear as day and that Jon was the true murderer, which forces both Nate and Damian to insist them to listen to the two, as they're the ones in charge. However, an unexpected twist occurs: the officer explains that they are no longer in charge of the case, but Damian's father, who, speaking of, is already on his way to where everyone is. After the cops attempt to warn the boss that both Nate and Damian were creating a scene, Ken says he'll be in control from now on, which petrifies Damian. Nate then recognizes that the situation has escalated much beyond his expectations, yet he continues to try to persuade himself to say anything rather than remain frozen, but he feels as if he is suffocating. Damian once again interferes to ask on what grounds they're not in charge anymore, as he says that they've been assigned to it. Nevertheless, Damian's father dismisses it and says they were both off, making it a final decision. Ultimately, Ken threatens Nate to leave immediately or he'd be warned of insubordination, and that wouldn't be good for his record. Damian is shocked that he's threatening his own assistant, and is about to step over, but when he gets interrupted, he continues on the conspiracy topic, saying that that's why he was such in a rush to put Jon behind the bars, and had evidence to prove his innocence, however Damian is interrupted by his father's irk calling-out and both go silent, as Nate describes how everyone in the station were staring at them after having made a scene, and admits that they really messed up this time. Both are forced to leave the station by the boss' command.

DamiNate frustration

Damian and Nate are left frustrated due to Ken's interference on their investigation.

The next scene shows an anxious Nate sitting on the waiting room as Damian clenches his fists while standing in front of the table near them, as Nate monologues about there being something that wasn't right when getting first on this case, and considers that he maybe shouldn't have dug into it in first place. He attempts to talk to Damian, but he's still angry at his father, especially since they had him on the ropes and could have solved it right then and figure out what had really happened, and now they will never know about the truth behind Oliveira's case due to his father deciding to interfere in order to derail Nate and Damian's entire investigation.

DamiNate frustration-2

Damian calms down and suggests Nate to head home.

He expresses distrust towards him and everyone in the station, as he believes something must be going up behind scenes. Damian excludes Nate, though, and says, "No offence." The angle of the scene switches with now showing Damian's expression as Nate looks at him in worry, and the former apologizes for overreacting, but still mentions that something else was happening, otherwise the boss wouldn't go through the effort of covering up a case like that. Nate is hopeless that they won't be able to get back in, and also might get a warning on his record too. Damian agrees on dropping it off for now, although not wanting to, and suggests to head home for now.

Extras[]

Halloween 2022 — "Office Party"[]

“Hijinks befitting of a festival of trickery and mischief ensue as Nate and Damian attend the office's Halloween party.”
— Introduction to the Halloween's extra.

Nate Fisher goes to retrieve some black candles for his sister, Kate Fisher, who had accidentally thrown them away with other junk. He then goes to the store with his best friend, Damian Ambrose, to purchase fresh black candles to compensate. Once outside, Damian will greet us by complaining that he's not Nate's uber and advices him to get a bicycle or something similar. Nate apologizes, but had to go to his aid since Damian knew better about Halloween shopping, since he was always so decked up with his costumes. Damian appreciates that Nate acknowledges his effort on the costumes, and thanks him, ultimately agreeing to go shopping the candles needed. Before the trip, Damian asks what was Nate going to wear for Halloween, to which his friend admits he didn't prepare anything because he was busy with work.

Unfortunately, there were no black candles in the store due to 'the kids going crazy for their clothes with them', so he gives in being one of the reasons due to Damian's advice to and joke that Katie might have been planning to do a ritual, working out as a lesson for Nate (given by Damian) to not throw any junk without consulting his sister first and takes back different candles, but Damian announces it was now time to pick Nate's costume, which shocks the mentioned since he thought Damian wasn't serious, but the latter reminds him that there was only 4 hours left before the party and he had no costume, querying whether if it wasn't alarming for him. Nate exclaims it was with Damian hounding him like that, and they go on the selection, with the first option being the commercialized Ghostface (according to Damian), but Nate finds the mask too freaky, which disappoints Damian because he's a fan of movies, and was about to propose Nate to match and do Stu and Billy together, although ditches the topic due to Nate not knowing anything about them nor the movie in general. The next option is a black robe, however Damian revealed that it is a different type, a Sith Lord robe. However, Nate is perplexed that a Star Wars costume is frightening, but Damian had considered it because Palpatine's melting face at the end was reminiscent of a horror film, but Nate does not recall that. Damian considers a witch costume, however Nate immediately turns it down because he didn't want to jinx with his sister.

DamiNate halloween

Damian playfully wraps Nate in toilet paper.

Since Damian was running out of ideas, he decides to solve the matter by himself, asking Nate to approach him since he got the perfect costume for Nate. As Nate is dragged away by the ear, he pleads Damian to stop. In the end, Damian also dresses Nate in toilet paper as a mummy costume, and he takes Nate's muffling as a thumbs-up of the outfit, to which Damian will go to check them out right now. After Nate manages to loosen the toilet paper, he runs to Damian to complain about it, however he already bought the outfit and was on the run once he saw him. When the two are back to the vehicle, Nate seeks for an explanation of Damian's past actions, to which he explains that Nate would have taken all day deciding on an outfit, so all he only did was giving him a nudge, however Nate doesn't understand the wrapping around him as nudging, and Damian hesitates before saying to consider it as the teaser trailer, and shows Nate a mummy costume. Nate is surprised that he actually bought one, and Damian explains that he was messing with him for being wishy-washy but it gave him an idea, as Nate is always so wounded up.

Nate is surprised that Damian actually bought him a Halloween outfit.

The latter then asks Damian if he bought the candles, which question offends Damian as he affirms. Nate decides to pay him back, however Damian refuses and tells him that it's on the house, being a compensation of the TP thing and the loss of his sister's candles. Nate is shocked that he can afford to giving out $30 just like that, especially since Damian doesn't have an income. Damian would interfere to explain that he pitches in every then and now at the cafeteria, and besides he had stolen them from his dad. Damian's friend accepts the answer, however promises to treat him dinner, which decision Damian finds fair. They then return to Nate's house to give Kate the candles as she thanks Damian for keeping her brother on check, and Damian expresses his surprise to Katie that he couldn't believe she let him not prepare anything for Halloween, however she figured out that her brother would use his uniform anyway, since he always dressed like famous detectives when they were little. Katie recalls the time when Nate used an Hercules Poirot costume when he was 8, and points out that the mustache was so in point. Nate attempts to stop her from embarrassing him more, however Damian grows curious over the mustache part, and tells Katie that she'll have to send the pictures later, which she agrees on, much to Nate's dismay. As they get dressed in Nate's bathroom, he can't believe that Damian manages to pull his costume off who, compared to Nate, felt himself embarrassed enough by only having a strap on. Damian advises him that it wasn't awkward if he didn't feel it that way, all being a matter of confidence. Nate claims he's barely confident, however Damian reassures that everyone will be wearing outfits, so Nate wouldn't be sticking out too much anyway. Nate agrees on his comment and declares that the next year he'll pick a cooler costume so he will feel less embarrassed over wearing it.

Damian compliments his spirit and suggests matching next time, saying it'll be cool. Nate agrees, but he excludes the mummies as an option, which Damian promises. As the two head to the office, they meet the rest of co-workers disguised with Halloween outfits too. Damian props April's costume as she managed to pull off a Sadako costume with her long hair, and she admits her desire to participate in the party too despite not being too fond of Halloween. Damian agrees with her posture, and tells Nate that he can learn a thing or two from her. The other co-workers agree on taking a group photo together, and Nate is practically dragged in too, but still consented.

Nate and Damian take on the case of Ms. Mei's missing cats, which disappeared (not so mysteriously) one night. Prior to the explanation of the case, Damian and Nate finally manage to stumble upon Ms. Mei's residence, having taken around 20 minutes to find it via walking. Nate was unsure whether the location was correct, to which Damian assures that it is and points out that it was the 5th time he asked, to which Nate apologizes while explaining that the whole neighborhood looked the same, thus their long walk around it. Damian replies that it wasn't that long, and the two enter the building.

Nate introduces himself and Damian to Mei once they're inside her room, and she does the same, as she explains that her cats had gone missing for days now. She considered them her 'babies', and has no idea where they went to, and pleads for their help to find them. Damian begins the interrogation first, starting from the last time she has seen them, and she explains that it was three days ago, and she'd always let them out at night because they deserved some freedom as it's part of their nature. Nate considers it dangerous for the local ecosystem, and asks the lady about the cats' appearance. She describes them as she hands him a photo of her babies while expressing sorrow. The detective finds the cats cute, as he says that Damian went and took a picture of the cats. Mei hopes they're okay, and Nate reassures that they are since cats like to wander around. Damian shifts the question to possible new suspects around the area, to which Mei mentions a shop downtown which had opened one week ago, and because it reeks down there, she never went. The assistant asks for the kind of store it was, to which Mei recalls it being a dried seafood stall. Nate thanks her for the information provided, and claims he'll have his colleagues contact animal shelters to see if they have found any cats. Damian also adds that they'll continue to search around the area, and would contact Mei if they have new info. Mei is grateful towards the two.

They then proceed to the local dried fish store run by Mr. Yu, as Mei suggested, and begin investigating and interrogating him. Prior to that, Damian and Nate have a brief talk about the case, especially focusing on Mei not going to investigate the store herself, to which Damian points out that Nate overestimates people, and considers that Mei didn't think to do it at all, thus her recklessness of letting the cats out in first place, which statement Nate agrees on. However, since both didn't have other leads, Damian says they'll just have to head there and see for themselves. When they arrive, they admit that it is like Mei had described about the scent is as Mei described, which Nate considers "unignorable" and Damian describes as intense; nonetheless, because Nate said it was bearable, Damian mocks Nate's surname: Fisher, which Nate scoffs at. When the owner, Mr. Yu, shows up, Damian informs him that the police were investigating a cat missing case, and that his establishment was a key suspect. Nate quickly stops Damian from being overly impulsive towards the man and apologizes for his partner. Nate rephrases Damian's statement, mentioning that they have reason to suspect that there are missing cats in the area and would like to ask him some questions. After this, Damian shows Mr. Yu a photo on his phone of the cats with his phone, but Mr. Yu excuses himself to get his glasses since he couldn't see well. When they're left alone, Nate questions Damian what was his deal, to which his assistant replies that Mr. Yu rubbed him the wrong way. Once he's back, Mr. Yu admits that he had the floppas after recognizing the cats on the image, but that he was keeping them to protect them from the storm that day and because he thought they were strays. He also explains he can't help the fact that the cats loiter around the store a lot due to the smell of the fish. Nate and Damian then take Ms. Mei to the store to get her 'babies' and apologizes for the trouble caused by her negligence over the cats.

The detective would then consider this case closed, however Damian view this more as an errand than a case, but agrees on it feeling good and being allowed to clock out early definitely helped too. Nate replies that it may be the case for him, because Nate himself has to still return and write his report. Damian then offers grabbing something to eat first if Nate was going to be on the clock anyways.

Fanon[]

DamiNate is the most popular ship within the "Case File 1225" fandom, primarily because the narrative centers on Damian Ambrose and Nate Fisher working together to solve a murder case. While many fans are eager for the pairing to become official within the canon, no such confirmation has been made yet. However, shippers often interpret the interactions as evidence of mutual romantic feelings. Damian's constant, albeit playful, flirting with Nate is seen by many as a sign that he might harbor deeper romantic feelings beneath his teasing demeanor.

Some believe that the two live together due to Damian's statement of going back home, implying that they may reside in a same place, however since it's only a theory, others refute that they live separately as shown on the prequel.

Despite the game's relatively low popularity, the ship has generated some fan content, including fan fictions on platforms like Archive of Our Own (AO3) and a handful of fan arts. The pairing has gained traction not only for its narrative potential but also for the visual similarity between Damian and Nate's appearances and the default Roblox characters, Guest and Noob, which adds a layer of meta-fandom appeal.

The ship is also considered popular amongst the Guest x Noob's pairings, since Damian and Nate's appearances resemble the characteristic colors of the default characters in Roblox. Another major example may include PartyBeetle, the ship between Party Noob (aka. Poob) and Pest from Regretevator, another game.
