Dandy x Tapes is the cargo ship between Dandy and tapes from the Dandy's World fandom.
Canon[]
Dandy is a male non-event Main Character resembling a flower. He is an all 5-star Toon that can only be played by the developers of Dandy's World (developer-exclusive).
Tapes are a currency while doing runs in the game and can be obtained through various means such as doing machines, encountering Twisteds, using items, and performing a Toon's active ability. During runs, tapes spawn throughout floors, and they increase in amount the higher the floor is.
On even-numbered floors, Dandy's shop appears in the elevator with him selling three random items on display. Players can buy said items with tapes, with some costing less or more based on their rarity. Dandy reacts positively when a player buys any item from his shop, no matter the cost of the item. However, if a player choses not to buy from his shop, he starts getting angrier every floor until either a player buys from him or he will ultimately spawn on an even-numbered floor as Twisted Dandy.
He often mentions tapes when trying to convince the player to buy from him, and on his last stage of anger before spawning on a floor, it is quite clear that he needs them as he mentions that the tapes are his. However, the reason for why he needs the tapes is still unknown. Twisted Dandy's design also has tapes incorporated into his design. There are various loops of film around his body, and there are various tapes in different areas like in his arms and on his back.
There is also a TV in the corner of the elevator which is presumed to be used by Dandy to watch the tapes. On the last stage of Dandy's anger, Dandy's face will pop up and flicker shortly on the TV before it turns off.

Dandy x Tapes is a very popular crackship in the community. It is common that players won't buy from Dandy and thus, will get him quite angry over not giving him any tapes. In fan content, it is common to see Dandy be portrayed watching tapes and being obsessive, even possessive, over tapes as a result of his interactions in the game. People like to joke quote often that the ship is canon due to his obsessiveness over them and fan content like to portray the ship in an ironic light due to how much Dandy wants the tapes.
His interactions also show that he is determined to get those tapes no matter what and is a staple for theories on why he needs them. Most common theories on why Dandy needs the tapes include that he wants to preserve the memory of Gardenview or that he watches them in order to not go crazy. Due to this, fan content like to show Dandy watching the (lost) episodes of the show Dandy's World all alone by himself after the incident with the Ichor Operation.
The pair is also commonly shipped alongside Rodger x Research. On the other hand, the only possible rivals to this ship might be Sprout x Tapes, Teagan x Tapes, and Blot x Tapes. However, all three ships are sometimes shipped together due to their abilities or connections to them, resulting in the poly ship Dandy x Sprout x Teagan x Blot x Tapes.
