Peter Pan (1953)[]

Wendy is a young girl who has told the many adventures of Peter Pan to her two younger brothers, John and Michael, every night in their nursery. When Peter came to the nursery at night to get back his shadow, which Wendy held for him when he gets back, she was awakened when he attempted to get back his shadow. Wendy offers to sew it on for him when she saw him trying to reattach it with a bar of soap.
Through conversation, Wendy learns that Peter likes to hear her stories. However, when Peter learns that she is to "grow up" the next day, Peter offers to take her to Never Land where she will never grow up. There, she could be the mother of the boys who live there. Wendy tries to kiss Peter out of gratitude, however, Tinker Bell, Peter's fairy companion, pulls Wendy's hair out of jealousy. Wendy's brothers wake up from Peter chasing Tinker Bell. Peter allowed Wendy to bring John and Michael with her to Neverland. To help Wendy fly like he can, Peter tells the Darling siblings to just think happy thoughts before sprinkling the three with Tinker Bell's pixie dust.
When they arrive at Neverland, they are attacked by Captain Hook. Tinker Bell is asked by Peter to lead Wendy, John, and Michael to safety, but soon leaves them behind. By the time Wendy catches up, she is shot at by the Lost Boys, mistaking her as a bird. They were tricked by Tinker Bell who told them that Peter told her to tell them to shoot down a "Wendy-Bird". Fortunately for Wendy, Peter was able to save her before she could hit the ground. Once Peter learns that Tink was the one who got his men to shoot Wendy out of the sky he banishes the fairy forever, but Wendy asks him to not make Tinker Bell's punishment last forever. This has him changing it to a week before Peter shows Wendy the island and because Peter had earlier told her that Never Land is home to mermaids, she asks him if they can see them first.
Return to Neverland (2002)[]
In the sequel to the Disney film, Wendy had never forgotten Peter and even though she married someone else when she grew up, she tells her children stories about the boy who never grew up. Along with making them a Peter Pan doll, hat and a wooden toy sword. Wendy's most recent Peter Pan story has him uncovering Captain Hook's treasure with the Lost Boys, before they take it to use in a treasure hunt game. As Wendy's daughter Jane grows older, she stops believing in the stories Wendy tells her, until she met Peter Pan herself. After Peter returned Jane home, Wendy walks up to the open window that he is flouting beside as the two reunite with one another. Even though Peter was upset with the fact that Wendy has changed by growing up, he happily accepts it once she assures him that even though she is now an adult, she is still the same person he had met all those years ago and has never stopped believing in him. Before Peter and Tink make their way back to Never Land, he watches Wendy and her children happily greet Jane's father back home when he returns from war.

Darling Pan is the most popular pairing within the Peter Pan fandom. Ever since the Disney 1953 animated adaptation, the popularity has grown a lot, even to this day. It increased when the third season of Once Upon A Time, however, fans were disappointed due to the small interactions between Wendy and Peter. Along with the fact that the ABC series has featured Peter as a villain who kept Wendy prisoner.
Some fans, though very rare, may also treat it as a friendship due to Wendy being an adult in the sequel, though some people consider it "non-canon" since it doesn't follow the source material.

Trivia[]
- In a few other versions of Peter Pan, it commonly has Wendy telling Peter that she wants to give him a kiss, but because he doesn't know what a kiss is she gives him a thimble and in return Peter gives Wendy an acorn (or whatever he has on hand) as his "kiss" to her. Peter's gift to Wendy is what later saves her from the Lost Boys' arrows.
- Peter and Wendy make a few Disney cameo appearances in the House of Mouse and Jake and the Never Land Pirates.
- They appear in the Kingdom Hearts series, both in the first game and Chain of Memories, as memory counterparts.
