Davney is the het ship between Dave and Courtney from the Total Drama fandom.
Canon[]
Dave and Courtney have never canonically met each other at any point in the series. Dave's only season was Total Drama Pahkitew Island, which is notable for being a self-contained season that never featured or referenced any contestants from previous seasons. Courtney's final appearance to date was in the Total Drama All-Stars episode, "Sundae, Muddy, Sundae", which was before Total Drama Pahkitew Island ever started and before Dave ever debuted. As such, they are distant strangers who have likely never even heard about each other before. The only way they could possibly know of each other would be if they watched each others' seasons, which has never been directly confirmed in the show.

Despite the fact that Dave and Courtney never met, many fans have entertained the possibility of these two meeting and pondered how their interactions would play out. Some even propose the idea of them becoming a couple. Although most people who've played with this concept don't all necessarily ship them, they have noticed many similarities between the two. Both of them are very high-strung, with Courtney being a perfectionist and Dave being a hypochondriac. They are both extremely short-tempered and tend to complain a lot. Courtney is quick to offense and never fails to jump at the opportunity to sue someone. Dave is very fragile, both physically and emotionally, always breaking down, crying about everything. They both have an unearned sense of narcissism, seeing themselves as better than they really are. Courtney thinks she's the best player on the show and Dave thinks he's the only normal person on the show. As such, they're both incredibly condescending toward everyone else around them.
Daveney is an exceptionally uncommon rarepair in the fandom for a myriad of reasons. A large majority of the few people who even acknowledge this ship regard it as being F tier as exhibited by this poll on Reddit. However, this same poll also shows us that there are quite a few people who consider it to have higher credibility, with 4 people even suggesting it to be A tier.
One of the primary reasons people oppose this ship is because they see this ship as toxic;
Courtney is prone to bossing around her boyfriends, as seen in her relationship with Scott, for instance, where she would give him orders and control him, first seen in "Moon Madness". She also tries to change her boyfriends, as seen in her relationship with Duncan, where she gave him a comprehensive printed contract, which she expected him to memorize overnight in "Top Dog" and again in "Greece's Pieces", when she showed Gwen how she had a long list of everything she wanted to change about Duncan. Dave would likely not respond well to this controlling and domineering behavior and would likely throw a fit, whenever Courtney demanded he do anything.
Dave is very rude and inconsiderate towards women, as seen in his "relationship" with Sky, where he insulted Sky and her sister in "A Blast From the Past", telling her that rhythmic gymnastics are stupid and made up and in "Twinning Isn't Everything", where Dave refused to help Sky remove her bee stings because he was "allergic". (It would later turn out that he's not even sure he was allergic to bee stings or not. He was just saying this to get out of doing work to help his love interest.) Given the way Dave treated Sky, it's very likely that he would just act the same way with Courtney, disrespecting her and being too lazy to do any of the things she demands him to do, of which there would be a lot, as previously established.
Ultimately, people predict that if Dave and Courtney got together, their interactions would mostly just be them screaming and yelling at each other about everything, (not unlike StephRyan), which would get really annoying really quickly.
In the same token, many fans believe that the toxicity of their relationship could actually work to their advantage. Detractors of Dave and Courtney believe that because they're both such toxic people, they deserve to be together. A person as obnoxious as Courtney should be with a boyfriend as rude as Dave and a person as rude as Dave should be with a girlfriend as obnoxious as Courtney. It's possible that this unusual pairing could serve as karmic justice for both of them and how they treated their previous love interests. Ideally, they could also have the maturity to learn from each other about how not to act in a relationship. This could lead to them changing themselves for the better and fixing their relationship so that they become a healthy couple. Or at the very least, they could break up and better themselves as people so that they can act nicer in future relationships with other people. This would open the door to other ships involving the two parties being looked on more favorably by people who were previously detractors of those ships.
Rival ships are Skave, Davella, Duncney, and Scottney. Speaking of which, this is another contributor to this ship's unpopularity. Duncney is arguably one of the most popular ships in the fandom, having an entire universe of shippers. Fans of Courtney loathe the idea of their OTP being ruined by having Courtney leave Duncan for someone as pathetic as Dave. They think that Courtney is a hyper-determined powerhouse and can do better and should not be with a misogynistic, incompetent weakling like Dave dragging her down. Courtney is a popular enough character to warrant several non-canonical ships, (i.e. Gwourtney, CourtLind, and CamCourt) all of which are also even more popular than Daveney.
