Deanevra is the het ship between Ginny Weasley and Dean Thomas from the Harry Potter fandom.
Canon[]
Dean and Ginny are both students at Hogwarts. They are both members of Gryffindor house, although Dean is one year older than Ginny. He is dormmates with Ginny's older brother, Ron Weasley, and her future husband, Harry Potter. Ginny and Dean both become members of Dumbledore's Army in their fourth and fifth years, respectively. This suggests that they were perhaps friends before beginning their romantic relationship. At the start of Ginny's fifth year, she announces to Ron that she has begun dating Dean. Ron does not take the news particularly well, but Ginny continues her relationship anyways.
The relationship between the two turns rocky quite quickly, as Ginny believes that Dean is too protective over her. This may be due to Ginny's unrequited crush on Harry, which she has harbored since she was eleven years old. They attend Slughorn's Christmas party together, but Ginny does not seem excited to reunite with Dean after the school holidays. Dean joins the Gryffindor Quidditch team in the new year, flying alongside Ginny as a Chaser. He laughs when he sees Harry get injured by a bludger, which angers Ginny and causes the couple to fight.
In the spring, the pair get into another fight when Ginny accuses Dean of trying to help her through the common room portrait hole. Dean denies this, which only makes Ginny more upset. In the end, she chooses to break up with Dean. In actuality, Ginny had been pushed by an invisible Harry, under the influence of Felix Felicis. The potion, which grants luck to the user, allowed Ginny and Dean to finally separate and provided Harry the opportunity to date Ginny instead. Dean is shocked when he sees Harry and Ginny kiss after the Gryffindor Quidditch team's win over Ravenclaw. Still, he doesn't seem to hold any ill will against the pair.
Dean leaves Hogwarts during his seventh year, due to the rise of Voldemort. He goes on the run, out of fear for his unknown blood status. Harry stumbles upon Dean's camp at one point during the year, and overhears that Dean is concerned for Ginny's wellbeing as he knows she went back to Hogwarts. He and Ginny both fight in the Battle of Hogwarts in May of that year.

Despite its canon status, Deanevra is a rarepair in the fandom. It is most often rivalled by Deamus and Hinny. Most people see the relationship between Dean and Ginny as unhealthy, with many believing that Ginny only chose to date Dean because she thought it would make Harry jealous. Fics that feature this pairing tend to do so as a side pairing, or as a pairing that is used as a plot device before the characters get together with their endgame ships.
Fans of the ship enjoy the fact that Dean and Ginny have differing personalities; with Dean being the softer, more gentlemanly type while Ginny is fiery and can sometimes be hotheaded. Some wish that their relationship had ended a bit more amicably, or that they could have had a better chance at romance without Harry's feelings getting in the way.
