DedeRool is the slash ship between King Dedede and King K. Rool from the Super Smash Bros. fandom.
Canon[]
Dedede and K Rool both used to be the main antagonists of their respective series, K Rool went missing while Dedede got redeemed. They're both royalty, but while K Rool appears to be born into it, Dedede claimed the throne because nobody else cared. They're both gluttons who had stolen food from their enemies and underlings before. They both wear red capes/robes.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
In King K. Rool's reveal trailer "The Rivals", DK and Diddy are relaxing in DK's house when they are alerted by the sound of heavy footsteps. Peeking outside, they see the silhouette of none other than their arch-enemy K Rool. However, when the Kremling king removes his robe, it turns out that it's just King Dedede pranking the Kongs, who drop their jaws in disbelief. King Dedede takes a moment to laugh at their expense, tears streaming out of his eyes as he's laughing so hard. But when Dedede is distracted, the actual K Rool appears behind him, knocking the impostor King unconcious and signifying the long-awaited addition of the Kremling king to the roster.
During his moveset montage, K Rool reflects King Dedede's attempt at smacking him with his side special with his own down special.
King K Rool is Dedede's first opponent on his Classic Route "Royal Rumble". He's fought on the pirate ship. Interestingly enough, Dedede is also K Rool's third opponent in his own Classic Route "Super Heavyweight Class". He's fought in the Boxing Ring. This also references that both Dedede and K Rool have a boxing persona: "Masked Dedede" and "King Krusha K. Rool".
Fanon[]
DedeRool is a rarepair. At best, it is shipped because they canonically interacted and because they have a few similarities. Most of the time, they're depicted as far more chummy than their one interaction would indicate. However, some interpret K. Rool's hostile reaction as signs of a rivalry between them.
Many parodies of the reveal trailer depicted the aftermath of King Dedede being smacked by King K. Rool as a continuation of the trend of characters getting "killed" in the reveal trailers.
