In the comics, Dewey and May are not related. However, in DuckTales 2017 they are first cousins once removed. Thus the page will be categorized as a het ship for the comics version, and a family ship for the DuckTales version.

DewMay is the het ship between Dewey Duck and May Duck from the Mickey Mouse and Friends and a family ship from the DuckTales fandoms.
Canon[]
Dewey was introduced in 1937 (in comics) and 1938 (in animation) alongside his triplet brothers Huey and Louie as the nephews of Donald Duck. May was introduced in 1953 (in comics) alongside her triplet sisters April and June as the nieces of Donald's girlfriend, Daisy Duck. The three sets of ducklings have a long-standing relationship that has been both friendly and antagonistic, and at times bordered on affectionate. On occasion members of each sibling set have paired off with one another, and the girls have been known to sport clothes in the same colors as the nephews on occasion. Exactly which sister pairs off with each brother is never explicitly stated, but it seems probable that they follow their respective naming orders; as such, Dewey is paired with May.
Much like their respective uncle and aunt, the relationship between the three nephews and three nieces is at times contentious. Dewey and his brothers are known for their strong wills, and May and her sisters are equally formidable. Various materials have, however, indicated that the sibling trios share similar interests despite their occasional quarrels and friction. Both trios are part of scouting organizations in the various Disney comics. The House of Mouse animated series has also indicated that all six ducklings are also musically inclined, with each sibling set forming a band. Interestingly, two of the girls also play the same or similar instruments to the three boys, with only one opting for drums instead of a variant of guitar.
DuckTales 2017[]
In this continuity, the relationship between Dewey and May is drastically altered. While Dewey remains Donald Duck's nephew, May is instead the genetic daughter of his great-uncle Scrooge McDuck and thus Dewey's first cousin once removed in terms of biology. Having been created by F.O.W.L. alongside her sister June as a clone of Webby Vanderquack, May is initially loyal to the villainous organization. She and June stand guard over Dewey and his brothers, along with several other captives, after Louie and his brothers are captured while raiding F.O.W.L.'s Library of Alexandria Headquarters.
May and June subsequently change sides after learning of their familial connections, freeing the nephews and other prisoners. They then join in the final battle against F.O.W.L. director Bradford Buzzard, with Dewey notably supporting May in helping to hold up a barrier protecting Scrooge from Bradford's attacks. Afterwards, May and June are welcomed into the McDuck-Duck family. They are also taken in by Donald Duck and his girlfriend Daisy.
Fanon[]
Dewey and May's relationship has not received a great deal of attention in fan made material. This is likely due to the fact that May was for several decades exclusive to Disney comics, and more popular overseas that in the United States. When May finally did make her way into animation, neither House of Mouse or Legend of the Three Caballeros featured her interacting with Dewey. Meanwhile, DuckTales did see the pair meet but also changed their relationship to become fairly close relatives. This decision proved controversial with fans, with some preferring to create AU works in which May is once again Daisy's niece.
The ship is tagged in 1 work on AO3.
