Canon[]
The Marshal[]
Din walks into a bar at Mos Pelgo and asks the bartended if he's seen a Mandalorian. Someone in the same armor as him. The bartender tells him that the Marshal does and a man stands in the doorway in Mandalorian armor. The man asks what brings Din there, and Din says that he's been searching for him. The man says that now that he found him, he should join him for a drink. The man then takes his helmet off and says that he's never met a real Mandalorian before, but has heard stories and probably isn't happy about him wearing Mandalorian armor. He figures only one of them is getting out of there alive, but looking at Grogu, that might not be the case. Din asks who he is, and the man introduces himself as Cobb Vanth, the marshal of Mos Pelgo. Din asks where he got the armor, and Cobb says he bought it off of Jawa's. Din tells him to hand it over, and Cobb says that he's the one that calls the shots around here. Din says to take it off, or her will. Cobb asks if they're going to do this in front of Grogu, but Din says that he's seen worse. They're about to get into a shootout when the Cantina starts to rumble and Cobb walks outside. Din joins him and they both see a large sandworm go through the town and eat one of the livestock. Cobb says that they might be able to work something out and walks back in.
Cobb tells Din that the worm has been terrorizing Mos Pelgo, and if he helps him kill it, he'll give him the Mandalorian armor. Din agrees, and comes up with an idea, but Cobb points out all the flaws. Cobb does know where it lives though and they hop on their speeders to its home. They reach an impasse where they might have to fight off several creatures, but Din recreates their call. Cobb asks what he's doing but Din just signals for him to stay down. Din befriends the creature when some Tuskens walk out and Din talks to them. Cobb asks what they're talking about and Din tells him that the Tuskens want to kill the worm to.
The Tuskens give Cobb a food and Cobb asks what he has to do with it. Din tells him that he has to drink it, and Cobb points out that it stinks. Din asks if he wants their help, and Cobb says not if he has to drink it. Din points out that the Tuskens are insulted and tells him to lower his voice. Cobb says that he knew it was a bad idea and starts to argue with Tuskens, but Din puts and end to it. He then asks how they can kill the Tuskens.
They head to wear the worm lives and Din translates to Cobb about the worm living in an abandoned Sarlac Pit. Cobb says there's no such thing as an abandoned sarlac pit, and Din says that there is if you eat the sarlac. When the worm eats a Tusken, Din tells Cobb that they're open to some fresh ideas. They build a little model and Din points out who they are in it. Cobb doesn't think it's too scale because the worm is too big, but Din says that it is. Cobb thinks it might be time to rethink their arrangement, and the Tuskens add more reinforcements to the model. Cobb likes it, but asks where they're getting them. Din volunteered Cobb's village.
Back at the village, Cobb tells Din that the Tuskens attacked the village a year ago and Din points out that the people respect him. He's sure they'll listed to reason, but Cobb isn't so sure. Cobb heads inside the Cantina and tells the people about the arrangement and the plan. The people agree and they get to work. Cobb asks Din if he thinks the plan will work, and Din says that it better, since joining forces is their only hope.
After the worm comes out the top of the mountain, Cobb says that they should attack. The two then fly off and start to fire on the worm. Cobb says it's not doing anything and Din tells him to keep shooting. Din gets an idea and tells Cobb to get its attention. Cobb does so and asks what now, and Din asks if he has the detonator. He tells Cobb to take care of Grogu, and makes him launch into the air far away.
Later, Din apologizes for not telling Cobb the whole plan and Cobb says that there was no need. He gives Din the Mandalorian armor and says that it was well earned. Din says it was his pleasure and the two shake hands. Cobb hopes that their paths cross again and Din feels the same. Cobb says to tell his people that he wasn't the one who broke the jet pack.
From the Desert Comes a Stranger[]
Din has an idea to ask Mos Pelgo for support in Boba's fight, and flies out there. When he arrives he's met by a deputy who he tells he's looking for Cobb. The deputy doesn't care, but Cobb steps forward and says he'll handle it. As the deputy leaves, Cobb says that the man is new. He asks if that's a Naboo Starfight Din is flying, and Din says that it's what it started as. Din asks how he's been and Cobb says he's been more careful. Cobb asks where Grogu is and Din says he's with his own people. Cobb says that they both lost something that they were fond of, and Din asks if he can buy him a drink.
Din explains the who situation to Cobb, and Cobb doesn't understand what that has to do with him. Din needs Cobb to lead a garrison of his people, who are good fighters, and will be paid for their service. Cobb says that his people don't want to fight anymore, but Din says that the Pyke's we'll eventually come through. Cobb believes that as long as he's here that's not a problem, so he asks why they should fight. Din says that Mos Pelgo may be good now, when a patron yells "Freetown". Din's confused and Cobb says that's what they changed the name of the place to. Din says that the people of Freetown are brave, but the Bartender says that the Pyke's are a city fight. Din asks if that's how Cobb feels, and Cobb says that they're square. Din says that they are, but he didn't think Cobb would be one to back down from a fight. Cobb says that what he likes about Din is that his "big smile" let's him get away with anything, and Din says that there's no easy way to ask for a favor. Cobb says that he'll see what he can do, and Din nods in thanks.
