Disney Trio is the friendship between Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy from the Mickey Mouse and Friends and Kingdom Hearts fandoms.

Canon

Mickey, Donald and Goofy are Disney's most iconic and central characters, who are part of the Sensational Six. While the three are seen as the all male trio of the group, thanks to the many short films that features the three friends together.

The Prince and the Pauper (1990)

In the Mickeyverse take on the Prince and the Pauper, Mickey and Goofy are presented as two peasants who are friends with one another, while Donald is a servant in the King's castle. Even though he hasn't met Mikey and Goofy, the Prince who picks on the duck is the spitting image of Mickey. After Mickey and the Prince swap places, Mickey meets Donald who is unaware of the switch, just as Goofy wasn't aware of it when he saw the Prince wearing Mickey's clothes.

Fun and Fancy Free

In the "Mickey and the Beanstalk" portion of the film, the trio are presented as three poor farmers who were once a proud family before finding themselves suffering from the drought, that was due to the theft of the magic harp that keeps Happy Valley green and joyful. With no money to pay for proper food to feed themselves during this hard time, Donald's hunger has him trying to eat their faithful cow and having angry hunger outbursts, while Mickey and Goofy are forced to restrain Donald and to keep him calm, before he does anything rash. With two of the three not wanting to kill the cow they decide to sell her instead, in hopes they could get some money for proper food. Mickey is selected as the one to sell their cow and as the two wait for the meal they hope to have from money their friend would get from selling the cow, Mickey ends up returning home with magic beans, but Donald being tired of eating nothing but beans has him refusing to hear Mickey out of them being magic. Donald's rage has him by tossing the beans away as they fell into a hole in the floorboards, after Mickey failed to catch them. As the three slept the light of the moon causes the beans grow into a giant beanstalk, that lifts the three and their slowly coming apart house to the place where the giant is keeping the magic harp.

When dawn hit the farmers spy a castle in the distance and decide to check it out. On the way to the castle the three realise that everything around them is gigantic, while their excitement of adventure has them forgetting their hunger as they enter the castle. Where they find giant food and the harp, who reveals the presents of the giant who kidnapped her. Giving the three enough time to hide from the giant when he enters the rooms, and begins to smell them out. When he found Mickey the mouse tries to trick the giant into turning himself into a fly, so he and his friends would be able to hit him with the fly swatter, but he caught onto what they were planning and managed to lock Donald and Donald in the box that he kept the harp in. Mickey managing to escape his grasps and the harp knowing her capturer's weakness, he is able to get his hands on the key to free his friends. The three then decide to rescue the harp as well and bring joy back to the valley, but Mickey taking matters to ensure that the giant doesn't come after them, while Donald and Goofy carry the harp back to the beanstalk, the giant wakes up and began chasing Mickey. Who was trying to catch up with his escaping friends, who had started to cut the beanstalk when they had reached the bottom. Mickey helps them in their task the moment he re-joined them and together they were able to save the valley from the giant. Just as them returning the magic harp brought joy and happiness back to the valley they call home.

A Goofy Movie

When Max returns home from the last day of school, Goofy says that he will be going on a road trip with his "best friend". Max asks if that means Donald Duck, but Goofy explains that his son is his best friend. Later, during the "On the Open Road" musical number, Mickey and Donald are seen hitchhiking together on the side of the highway. This implies that Donald, Goofy, and Mickey are friends within the universe of this film.

Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers

Back when Mickey, Donald and Goofy were orphans living on the streets they were attacked by bad guys and were then saved by three Musketeers. Since then the three have dreamed about becoming Musketeers themselves, as Mickey kept the hat that one of their Musketeer saviours gave him. Even though they were only able to get janitor jobs at where the Musketeers train, they have faith that they'll be able to reach their dream if they work hard enough. Goofy not being as smart as he say he is, Donald not being as brave as he claims and Mickey's short height, along with the times have messed my their tasks, however, pushes their dream further out of reach. With Captain Pete refusing to grant them their dream, but Mickey was always able to lift his friends' spirits back up. When Princess Minnie requested Musketeer bodyguards and Pete knew that his henchmen wouldn't be able to kidnap her with fully trained Musketeers protecting her, he remembers Mickey and his friends' goal of becoming Musketeers and decides to take advantage of it. Although the three weren't trained when they were made Minnie's bodyguards, they were determined to do their best and were happy to be living their dream together. This allowed them to save Minnie and Daisy, after they failed to fort their kidnapping and proved themselves to be worthy being Musketeers. Even though Donald's fears had him hiding for the their first two battles with the bad guys and only Mickey and Goofy able to face the trio head on and save the two ladies from them in their own unique way.

House of Mouse

In the House of Mouse the three work in a night club of the same name, where Mickey is the owner, Donald is the greeter and co-owner, while Goofy serves the role of head waiter. Some of the entertainment shown on the club's big screen are shorts that the three have started in.

Kingdom Hearts

In the Kingdom Hearts universe, the three reside on a world called the Disney Castle. Where Mickey is its King, Donald is the kingdom's Royal Magician and Goofy serves as the Captain of the Royal Knights of King Mickey's court. This has Donald and Goofy address Mickey as his "Majesty." For the large part of the first arc, Donald and Goofy made it their mission to find Mickey after he disappeared; while leaving the two with the task to find the one who wields the Keyblade and join them on their journey to other worlds. In hopes of finding their King, while fighting the Heartless and to ensure that the existence of other worlds are kept a secret from others. Donald is shown to be faithfully loyal to Mickey and was willing to focus on finding him over finding Sora's missing friends. Goofy is loyal to Mickey as well, but he knows that Mickey would want them to do the right thing should the orders he leaves prevent them from doing so.

During Mickey's keyblade training days under Yen Sid, in the Birth By Sleep timeline, the two companied their King to Yen Sid's tower and watched his training. After Mickey learned of the danger his master foresaw, he took off to face it while leaving his faithful magician and captain behind. While the two are left wondering where he is and when their King would return to them. They were also there to see Mickey being granted the rank of Keyblade master, despite his little stunt. That may explain the way Donald and Goofy were determined to find Mickey after he took off in the events of the first game.

The Disney Trio are well loved among Disney fans of Mickey and the gang. With the three bringing joy and laughter to children, and even help to bring out the inner child of teens and adults. From watching the three as they grew and getting to see them through their kids.

Mickey, Donald and Goofy being a large part of the Kingdom Hearts series has the Disney Trio be supported in its fandom. As fans of the trio love their original KH garb, roles and their connection to the main original Kingdom Hearts characters. Like Sora, Riku and the members of the Wayfinder Trio. On AO3 the three have their own tags that links them to KH related fanfics, while the Disney tags focuses on their original (none KH media) selves.
