Divorce Trio is the poly ship between King Andrias, Leif and Barrel the Brave from the Amphibia fandom.

Canon[]

Leif and Barrel were foreshadowed in the series, before they and their ties to Andrias were revealed.

The three of them have known each other for a long time. Based on how Aldrich had called the two his son's childhood friends, they were possibly friends since they were children. Aside from that, not much is known about Andrias' frog and toad friends. During Andrias' prince years, he and Barrel would have play fights and the toad always won. Meanwhile, Andrias and Leif found a way to leave each other hidden messages. Barrel's role as a guard and Leif being the royal family's gardener, allowed them to always be close and find time to spend it together. Leif and Barrel had also given Andrias the nickname "Draius." The two, however, have made Aldrich very unhappy, from feeling that his son's friends were a weakness. He also thought that Andrias should only count on the Core, like he and other members of their family have done before them. Andrias, however, felt that if it wasn't for Leif and Barrel, he wouldn't have reached his father's expositions, that would allow him to be placed in charge of their next invasion.

To show his gratitude for all that they have done for him, Prince Andrias commissioned a portrait of the three of them. Once it was ready, Andrias had one of his play battles with Barrel, who was given a message from Leif to Andrias earlier on. Because it was blank on sight, Barrel didn't understand why she asked him to give it to Andrias. Luckily for Barrel, Andrias had special lens glasses that revealed the hidden words and explained that it was something that he and Leif have not long come up with. The message tells Andrias and Barrel to meet Leif in the garden, where she plans to show them a dance she created. Barrel fell under its hypnotic affect, while Prince Andrias averted his eyes as he blushes. Andrias commends Leif for her dance that has her classic style. After Leif thanks her friend for his kind words, she asks Andrias what he has strapped on his back. Both Leif and Barrel were amazed by Andrias's gift, as he thanks them for all they have done for him. He also informs them that his father is making him the leader of the next invasion mission, and how it wouldn't have been possible without their friendship and support.

The three friends then celebrate by running through the hallways like kids, until Aldrich pulls his son aside, while Barrel and Leif plan to catch up with the Prince later on. Aldrich advises Andrias to cut ties with Leif and Barrel, before the two could start taking advantage of him once he becomes the new king. Andrias, however, refused to believe that Leif and Barrel would do such a thing, from knowing that their friendship is true. After he was given the key to the music box, Andrias decides to let Leif and Barrel in the chamber it was kept in, even though he later regretted it once Leif roped them into a game of passing the music box around by tossing it to Barrel and then back to her, while Andrias tries to get them to knock it off. Knowing that they'll be in huge trouble if they get caught or end up damaging the box. After the gems on the box show Leif a horrible vision of the future, while her two friends ask if she is okay, she begs Andrias to not go along with the invasion.

After Andrias convinced his father to hear Leif out on the vision she had, the prince was shocked by the king calling Leif a traitor. He tried to defend her, but Andrias was never good at standing up to his father. Leif and Barrel continue to give Andrias their support, and Leif believes that he would do the right thing, despite what the king says. Andrias, however, was still going through with the invasion and snaps at Leif when she tries to talk him out of it. As Leif asking Andrias this reminded him of his father's earlier warning of his friends taking advantage of him. Until he saw the hurt his words caused her and apologies for the harsh snap, and explains that he is under a lot pressure. Seeing the two having a make up hug, before joining in on it got Barrel to believe that everything is okay with them again, but both Andrias and Barrel were clueless to Leif stealing the key to the box. She could see that Andrias wasn't going to do the right thing and was left with little choice but to take matters into her own hands.

Andrias caught onto what Leif was planning to do once he realized that the key was missing. He was furious to find the frog in the box's chamber and then gets Barrel to help him stop her from escaping with it. Barrel didn't want to hurt Leif and was left confused when she tells him to trust in what she is doing. The Prince, however, was angry at the toad for not stopping her when he had the chance, along with him feeling betrayed by Leif, as she managed to get away with the box. This left Andrias with the task to make up for his failure and began to believe that his father was right about Leif and Barrel. To punish both of them, Andrias tasked Barrel and the rest of the toads to keep the frogs in line. Barrel was saddened by this but still went through with the orders given to him. Once the toad left the room, Andrias scratched the portrait of them in a moment of anger.

Leif had left feeling terrible for harming Andrias the way she did, and hoped that he and Barrel would forgive her. While Andrias took matters to ensure he stayed alive for the day that the box returns to Amphibia, Leif started anew in Wartwood. Barrel, however, was killed in a battle with a giant creature and his name was remembered by toad kind. Unlike Andrias who had closed himself off, while still being hurt by his friend's betrayal, Leif hung onto the memories of their time together. Before reaching the end of her life, Leif writes a letter that only Andrias would be able to read in hopes that her words would find him.

Leif's wish was granted by her descendant Sprig Plantar, who reads the letter to Andrias. Her words got him to see that she had never forgotten him like he believed she did. As Leif wanted Andrias to not close his heart to new or old ties, this got Andrias to lose the will to fight and allowed Anne Boonchuy to defeat him. Knowing that it was the only way to do what was right, like Leif wanted from him. This also gave him the courage to stand up to his father and cut ties with the Core. Even though Leif and Barrel are gone, Andrias found a way to keep them with him in spirit by using Barrel's hammer as a cane and wearing Leif's leaf shaped pin while living a simple life after his king title and rank was taken away.

Due to their blue, green and pinkish red color schemes, some people have considered them as the previous Anne, Marcy and Sasha. Since their main colors were also the colors of the gem stones that powered the Calamity Box, along with Andrias having traits that each one of the three human girls possessed. The attention on this poly ship grew after their story was revealed, along with some fans theorizing that Andrias might have had feelings for Leif from how close they were and the pain he felt from her betrayal. While poor Barrel was caught in the crossfire, before meeting his end.
