Doorman Family is the family ship between Khan Doorman, Nori Doorman, and Uzi Doorman from the Murder Drones fandom.
Canon[]
According to Uzi, she claims she has “crippling daddy issues” and earns very little respect from Khan. This is one of the main reasons why she had created the railgun, for she believes that if she destroys the Disassembly Drones and saves the planet, Khan would finally view her in a brighter light. Once she sneaks out to retrieve ammo for her railgun, Khan prevents her from leaving and questions her. She explains she wants to observe the creation of doors and has taken an interest in them. This brightened Khan and he gives his daughter the wrench that not only created the first door of his but is also the weapon used to put his wife, Nori, out of her misery. Nori’s supposedly deceased status is shown in the Doorman residence where it bears a family photo with Uzi as an infant with Nori’s face burnt out; this foreshadows that the main cause behind her death was nanite acid, an acidic property that burns through metal.
However, Khan and Uzi’s relationship further decreases when Khan abandoned Uzi for dead instead of easily saving her using her railgun. This causes Uzi to banish herself from the colony, and Khan copes with this predicament by claiming she is simply grounded.Later on, Uzi expresses her care for her mother and the unfairness of her death that was caused by home company, JCJenson, for creating the Murder Drones that murdered Nori. Khan also appears immensely upset regarding his wife's death, for whenever mentioning it, he becomes grim and aggressive. This explains that both members care for the woman of the family dearly. It is also safe to assume that Khan thirsts for vengeance for the death of Nori alongside his daughter.
Despite their unhealthy relationship, the two have shown signs of developing. This is proven when Khan becomes infuriated by Uzi’s teacher when the latter assumed that there was something wrong with his daughter’s coding, and when Uzi runs up to her father for consolement after witnessing the eldritch J. In “Mass Destruction” Khan is seen with Uzi’s railgun and has a fixed mindset and trusts both his daughter and his wives warnings to free the planet from being consumed. This proves that Uzi had successfully earned her father’s respect and acceptance.
In “The Promening” Khan had explained the origin of how he and Nori met and revealed to Uzi that they were residents in the cabin fever camps. He explains that Nori was a catch and was easily liked among her people. This, however, contrasts Uzi’s ability to coincide with her kind, such as students fleeing from her mere presence. He then shows his daughter Nori’s closet filled with her “kooky insane stuff” that contains several theories and deranged sketches regarding the AbsoluteSolver and Disassembly Drones. It is revealed that Nori’s scrambled mind caused her to see the visions of the Murder Drone arrival, thus convincing Khan to build the doors that eventually led to his large fame among the colony.
Uzi and Nori both possess the desire to sketch and theories their encounters regarding the same topic, thus confirming that this trait from Nori was passed down to her daughter. Because of this shared interest, Khan decided to remove Uzi’s sketches and shove it in Nori’s closet. However, in the series progression, Nori is confirmed to be active but not inside of her body. She now takes the form of her heart and thrives in the abandoned church that is placed deeply underground. Nori explained to N that she was merely faking her death and sought to bring the crucifix patch to the surface. The falseness behind her demise could be speculated that she does not want the gruesome events of the AbsoluteSolver further inflicting on her family's lifestyle, thus if everyone assumes she is deceased, she can allow herself to search for the patch unbothered.
It is shown that Nori is increasingly motherly towards Uzi and becomes infuriated when she discovers that her daughter has a close relationship with a Disassembly Drone. Her protectiveness is also shown when she slaps N for nearly allowing the AbsoluteSolver to decapitate her daughter with his blade, leaving N helpless to rebuttal due to being petrified. She confirms that one of the main reasons shy pretended to be dead is because she deems herself as the cause for all of the havoc in Uzi's life.
Moments[]
- In Absolute End, when Uzi admits that she is glad for the doors' existence, Khan is seen cheering with Nori outside of the classroom door before Uzi violently destroys the door to block him out.
- In Absolute End, Uzi is seen playing cards with her parents and Khan's crew in the credit roll.
Fanon[]
The Doorman Family is a unique pairing in the fandom due to the family’s deranged and horrifying history with the AbsoluteSolver and the abusiveness within the relationship between Uzi and Khan. However, once character development ensued, fans viewed the family as a genuinely caring and wholesome relationship despite the terror and downfall they have experienced.
