Shipping Wiki

Dorky is the slash ship between Daffy Duck and Porky Pig from the Looney Tunes fandom.

Canon[]

Daffy and Porky have a complicated relationship. Although they have slept together, lived together, and even proposed to marry one another, Daffy's treatment of Porky can be dismissive at best, and sometimes even hostile at worst. However, Porky remains kind through it all and even actively loves Daffy and appreciates their relationship. In the 1948 "Looney Tunes" episode, "Daffy Duck Slept Here," for example, Daffy and Porky share a hotel room since Porky can't find any vacant hotel rooms in the city. Daffy appears to be hyperactive and doesn't let Porky sleep. The two of them sleep together on the same bed and their silly fights over the blanket or the side of the bed parody that of various real-life couples.

This relationship dynamic with Porky being the more kind and loveable of the two wasn't always like this. In the early cartoon of the Looney Tunes series, Daffy and Porky were rivals, as they would often fight over things like the ownership of ponds. In one of the earliest shorts, for example, Daffy was trying to irritate Porky enough so he would leave him in the pond all by himself, so he would pull pranks on him to make Porky mad. However, when Daffy was out of tactics, he started interrogating Porky about the licences he owned. When Porky seemed to show him all the licences he asked for, Daffy finally asked Porky if he had a marriage licence, to which he replied that he wasn't married yet. Immediately after this, Daffy jumped into Porky's arms, seductively asking him to marry him.

This dynamic of Porky being annoyed by Daffy changed overtime, and with the new Looney Tunes cartoons, Porky became more innocent and oblivious to Daffy's bolder advances. And although Daffy appears to be a jerk to Porky now, he deeply cares about him. As shown in the Season 4's short, "Practical Jerk." After Daffy decides to play an April Fools' joke on Porky with explosives, when Porky ends up unconscious and not waking up, Daffy is deeply worried for him. So he immediately takes Porky to the hospital and stays the entire time alongside him. Until a doctor gives him the bad news that Porky has died. Daffy is seen so devastated that he willingly throws himself on top of Porky's casket as he is being buried. And even after a year has passed, Daffy is still depressed about Porky's death, unable to do anything but think about him. It's also shown that he spends years, seasons and decades taking flowers to Porky's grave. This, of course, turns out to be all just false, and Porky ends up living, but this shows just how much Daffy cares about Porky, despite how he seems like he doesn't.

Moments[]

  • In one of The Looney Tunes Show episodes, Daffy wins a romantic evening date and asks Bugs out. But when Bugs turns him down, Daffy immediately calls Porky and Porky excitedly agrees to go with Daffy.

Fanon[]

Dorky is often regarded as an "underrated ship" within the Looney Tunes fandom. It's usually overshadowed by the most popular ship, Baffy. Fans of this ship started shipping the two after seeing how queer-coded a lot of their moments seem to be, such as Daffy asking Porky to marry him or the two sharing a bed and living together.

On AO3, Dorky is the 4th most written ship for Daffy and the 2nd most written ship for Porky.
