Back when Tim was little he saw the Flying Grayson's with his parents and was amazed by their youngest member. He had also witnessed the tragic event that changed Dick Grayson's life and got him adopted by Bruce Wayne. Tim never forgot about the young acrobat and after seeing clips of Robin, he recognized the flexible movements of the Grayson boy. Putting two and two was what got Tim to realize that Dick was Robin and that it makes his adopted guardian Batman. With the second Robin gone and Batman becoming much darker than he was, Tim became the next Robin. Dick welcomed Tim to the Batfamily and their time together got them to view one another as brothers than friends and allies alone. Tim soon became an orphan himself and gets adopted by Bruce, like Dick was. Making them adopted brothers.

As a fan of Batman Tim had noticed that Robin had stopped showing up. When Tim saw the old Robin suit Dick had wore at his age, he asks Batman and Alfred what happened to the first Robin. Not long after Tim was made the new Robin, Dick returned to aid Bruce and the others, as well as their new young Robin. Seeing Dick got Tim to smile, knowing that he is back and they'll get to work together.
After Nightwing came to Robin's aid when a group of thugs were getting the better of him, Tim asked Dick why he left Batman's side. Knowing that Batman wasn't going to tell him himself. Dick told Tim the events that got him to quite as Robin and leave Batman. Tim tells Dick that Bruce had changed a bit after he left, but Dick had trouble believing that until the two returned a wallet back to man from Dick's story. After Dick left Bruce had given the man a job, so he can support his family without turning to crime again.

Sometime after Dick became Nightwing and Jason died, Tim joins the Titans as it's new Robin. Tim had started lending the Titans a hand every now and again before joining them full time. The series so far has the two as friends and allies than brothers, with how it doesn't have Tim being adopted by Bruce.

Much like the brother bonds Dick has formed with Jason and Damian, who have both served as Robin, fans are also drawn to the bond Dick has formed with Tim. With how their brother bond was formed long before Tim was adopted by Bruce, as he still had his parents when he first started out as Robin in the original DC comics. While DCAU has Dick meet Tim as an orphan who was just adopted by Bruce, on the same day Dick re-joins the series version of the Batfamily. Giving Drayson a place in the DCAU fandom, along other fandoms of DC medias that the two have appeared in together. Like Young Justice and Titans. Tim being part of Dick's origin story before he joins the Batfamily and has Dick as the link that gets Tim to discover who Robin and Batman are, is another trait of the two that draws fans towards them.
