- “Claire's been doing so good, and, I mean, anything connected to Kaia, she's a powder keg. First love strikes quick, and to lose it like that...”
- — Jody Mills

Season 13[]
WAYWARD SISTERS
Claire learns about Kaia when Jody called her home to help with finding the missing Winchester brothers. After this conversation Claire finds out that another reason Jody called her home was because Patience, a psychic, had a vision of her dying.
She does this when on a visit to Alex in the hospital she works in and is the first one of the group to see Kaia. After a prolonged staring session, the nurse tending to Kaia leaves and Claire waits to enter. In this time Kaia prepares to ditch the hospital, ripping the IV out and grabbing her stuff, and by the time Claire enters she's trying to leave. She does this despite Claire trying to relate to her link with the Winchesters.
However, when she escapes Claire and gets outside, she is met with a monster.
Jody appears and shoots the Canid but Claire is the one to kill it. After that she asks Kaia to talk, which she reluctantly does.
We next see them on the porch of Judy's house, where Kaia is sitting while Alex, Jody and Patience are discussing the Canid. Claire joins her.
During the conversation Kaia's sleeve rolls down, allowing Claire to see the scar on her arm which Kaia calls one of many. Claire jumps in to state that she too has scars and shows her ankle and shoulder as proof.
Kaia points out a scar on her forehead and Claire tells her that she got it tripping onto a doorknob on a hunt, a story which got the second smile we have seen from Kaia.
After finding common ground Claire asks Kaia what happened and we then see them enter where the rest of the girls are pulling the mask off the Canid. Kaia tells them that she is a dreamwalker, after reassurance from Claire, and that the monster is from what she calls 'The Bad Place' which is where she thinks Sam and Dean are stuck.
Later, Patience has another vision of the monsters coming to Jody's house, telling them that they need to leave before it becomes true. Claire has the opinion that they should stay and fight, but leaves with everyone else after a angry speech from Patience and a word from Kaia.
They are then brought to where Kaia created a rip in the world in the episode before. Joined by Donna, Jody goes into the building asking Claire to stay back to keep Kaia and the girls safe. For the second time in the episode, a look to Kaia is enough for Claire to hang back.
However, she is seen to be annoyed by being benched and Kaia joins her where she is sitting in the trunk of the truck keeping an eye on Patience and Alex.
They talk about what it would mean if Claire was to go to The Bad Place, how it would likely end up with her dead, and how she believes it to be worth it for Sam and Dean. Claire mentions her annoyance at not being help to Kaia.
Then don't. If you go, I’ll go with you. Maybe together we can save them.
The building is overrun by the Canids that had travelled from the Bad Place and Claire and the girls rescue Jody and Donna. After the rescue Claire and Kaia run off to where the rip is, Jody allowing Claire to enter. Kaia seems nervous though and so Claire offers up her hand with a promise to protect her.
I'll protect you.
They enter the rip.
Once in the Bad Place Kaia grabs Claire's hand again and leads the way. They find and save Sam and Dean, and then begin the trip back to where the rip was closing. Pausing before entering meant that a masked figure caught up to them, Kaia noticing before anyone else and pushing Claire out of the way of the thrown weapon.
However, this means that Kaia took the fatal would instead, devastating Claire who holds Kaia's hand until she can't and whispering her name. She then gets up to fight the figure, no Kaia to stop her, but Dean does and pulls her back instead.
Dean drags her through the rip and they make it back safely, only without Kaia. Claire yells when the rip closes, making Jody run to join them. There isn't much she can do for Claire except hold her while she cries, Patience joins and sees that the vision was not what she had assumed.
Sam and Dean say that they tried talking to Claire but she was pretty shutdown, and she is then shown crying and writing in her journal, feeling particularly torn up over her broken promise to Kaia.
I didn’t even think, I just raced in, no plan. I said I’d protect her. I get it now, why you are the way you are, with me. Because of the… this feeling…
She joins the where the rest of her family is laughing and eating, but makes a vow that she will find whoever the masked figure is and kill them.
The thing that killed Kaia is still out there and I don't care if I have to tear another hole in the universe, we're going to find it and I'm going to kill it.
We end the episode learning that the masked figure was the 'dark' version of Kaia from the bad place all along.
Season 15[]
GALAXY BRAIN
In episode 12 we find out that Kaia never actually died, instead Dark Kaia kept her alive in the Bad Place while she lived on Earth. Now though she wanted to go home because the Bad Place was dying and so she called upon the Winchesters to help get her home.
When they found out that Kaia was alive, Jody tried to get in contact with Claire but couldn't as she was busy with a false lead on Dark Kaia. Jody tells Castiel that Claire wanted revenge for Kaia's death and would do anything for a chance to save her. She also reiterates Claire's love for Kaia.
Claire has spent years looking for… revenge. She loved her… Kaia. Claire would do anything for a chance to save her, but there’s just… there’s no time to loop her in, and if we fail… // She’d never recover. // It’d kill her.
CONVERSATION BETWEEN JODY MILLS AND CASTIEL
They successfully bring Kaia home and the episode ends with Jody invites Kaia to go back to her home in Sioux Falls, Kaia agrees after Jody tells her that Claire will be there. We don't see the reunion.
Moments[]
Season 14[]
- The Scar
- Jody Mills mentions that Kaia was Claire's first love and that she was still sad over losing her so soon.
Fanon[]
Many people in the fandom started shipping Claire and Kaia immediately after seeing the two interact onscreen together in Wayward SIsters. Dreamhunter seems to be a fairly widely accepted ship, perhaps in part due to the canonical status of it. Supernatural is fairly limited on its list of canon queer relationships so many fans were excited when the couple was confirmed on the show. Dreamhunter is often seen as a parallel to the relationship between Dean and Cas, especially as Claire is often seen as a parallel to Dean, as well as other parallels between the two pairs. Many fics and fanart include a Dreamhunter reunion, after Kaia returns home from the Bad Place and Claire learns she's alive.

Trivia[]
- The scene where Claire swears that she will find what killed Kaia is similar to what John and Sam went through when their respective partners died in season 1.
- The scene where Dean pulls Claire through the rift is similar to what Dean did for Sam and Jess in season 1 and Sam for Dean and Cas in season 12.
- Bob Berens tweeted out #Dreamhunter during 15.12, 'Galaxy Brain' when Kaia returns and is going to be reunited with Claire.
